DIY awning alternative to those cheap EZups you buy at the store. It's a little over-built and not the prettiest awning around but it's bomb proof and should last the life of the trailer. Yes I picked up my awning that got destroyed (we never leave trash when we go riding). I was worried the extra weight would make the trailer less stable but it seems to have no effect. It doesn't lean any more or feel heaver when moving it around by hand, so overall I'm happy with how it turned out.

Tension is imparted to the face of the cover in this case by adjusting the pipe in the eye ends on the struts. When it comes to great landscape photography, getting to the right location and staying comfortable can be as important as the lens you use. That means having the right camping gear so you can concentrate on what really matters: getting a great shot.
In this video I'll walk you through the ARB 2000 Awning - an absolute essential for overland expeditions. It provides a quick and easy escape from the desert sun and heat and it's a perfect shelter from rain and snow.
ARB also makes a 1250 Awning and a 2500 Awning. The ARB 2000 Awning shown here is about 6.5-foot wide while the 2500 Awning is just over 8-foot wide and the 1250 Awning is about 4-foot wide. All 3 awnings extend away from the truck about 8-foot. You'll see that this 6.5-foot wide 2000 Awning fits my 2000 Toyota 4Runner (3rd generation) perfectly.
ARB awnings are built tough. This awning has the typical high quality you expect from ARB. I've set this thing up in fairly windy conditions and I was amazed at how sturdy it was. The included stakes and guy wires keep it secure, but of course, it's best to not use the awning in exceptionally windy weather.
My ARB awning is mounted to a Gobi Stealth Roof Rack using modified Rhino Rack 31103 awning mounts. The awning does not come with mounting brackets, but it does include mounting screws, stakes, and guy wires.

Awning
An awning or overhang is a secondary covering attached to the exterior wall of a building. It is typically composed of canvas woven of acrylic, cotton or polyester yarn, or vinyl laminated to polyester fabric that is stretched tightly over a light structure of aluminium, iron or steel, possibly wood or transparent material (used to cover solar thermal panels in the summer, but that must allow as much light as possible in the winter). The configuration of this structure is something of a truss, space frame or planar frame. Awnings are also often constructed of aluminium understucture with aluminium sheeting. These aluminium awnings are often used when a fabric awning is not a practical application where snow load as well as wind loads may be a factor.
The location of an awning on a building may be above a window, a door, or above the area along a sidewalk. With the addition of columns an awning becomes a canopy, which is able to extend further from a building, as in the case of an entrance to a hotel. Restaurants often use awnings broad enough to cover substantial outdoor area for outdoor dining, parties, or reception. In commercial buildings, an awning is often painted with information as to the name, business, and address, thus acting as a sign or billboard as well as providing shade, breaking strong winds, and protecting from rain or snow. In areas with wintry weather, most awnings do not have to be taken down at the end of the summer - they can remain retracted against the building all winter long, or be designed and built for those conditions.

When it comes to great landscape photography, getting to the right location and staying comfortable can be as important as the lens you use. That means having the right camping gear so you can concentrate on what really matters: getting a great shot.
In this video I'll walk you through the ARB 2000 Awning - an absolute essential for overland expeditions. It provides a quick and easy escape from the desert sun and heat and it's a perfect shelter from rain and snow.
ARB also makes a 1250 Awning and a 2500 Awning. The ARB 2000 Awning shown here is about 6.5-foot wide while the 2500 Awning is just over 8-foot wide and the 1250 Awning is about 4-foot wide. All 3 awnings extend away from the truck about 8-foot. You'll see that this 6.5-foot wide 2000 Awning fits my 2000 Toyota 4Runner (3rd generation) perfectly.
ARB awnings are built tough. This awning has the typical high quality you expect from ARB. I've set this thing up in fairly windy conditions and I was amazed at how sturdy it was. The included stakes and guy wires keep it secure, but of course, it's best to not use the awning in exceptionally windy weather.
My ARB awning is mounted to a Gobi Stealth Roof Rack using modified Rhino Rack 31103 awning mounts. The awning does not come with mounting brackets, but it does include mounting screws, stakes, and guy wires.
