The Muslim Brotherhood is one of the oldest and most influential Islamic political movements in the world. But it has also been designated as a terrorist organisation by the country from which it originated - Egypt. And now the British Prime Minister David Cameron has ordered an inquiry into the Brotherhood's alleged links to terrorism following claims from Egypt and Saudi Arabia that the movement has been using London as an organising base for its activities. We take a closer look at the group that's been causing political waves around the world for 86 long years.

In the 18th century Europe's influence was growing. This was most notable in the Islamic world. As a response to this, many new Islamic scholars, activists and ideologist attempted to reform their societies and nations so they could prevent the growing presence of Europe. One of those reformists was Jamal ad-Din al-Afghani, his ideas preached of a modern state guided by Islamic principles. Although he was unsuccessful, his work strongly influenced the minds of thousands of activists, and one of those peoples was Hassan al-Banna, who would later on lay the foundation of the Muslim brotherhood.

Muslim Brotherhood
The Society of the Muslim Brothers (Arabic: جماعة الإخوان المسلمين), shortened to the Muslim Brotherhood (الإخوان المسلمون al-Ikhwān al-Muslimūn), is a transnational Sunni Islamist organization founded in Egypt by Islamic scholar and schoolteacher Hassan al-Banna in 1928. The organisation gained supporters throughout the Arab world and influenced other Islamist groups such as Hamas with its "model of political activism combined with Islamic charity work", and in 2012 sponsored the elected political party in Egypt after the January Revolution in 2011. However, it suffered from periodic government crackdowns for alleged terrorist activities, and as of 2015 is considered a terrorist organization by the governments of Bahrain,Egypt, Russia, Syria, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates.
The Brotherhood's stated goal is to instill the Qur'an and Sunnah as the "sole reference point for ... ordering the life of the Muslim family, individual, community ... and state." Its mottos include "Believers are but Brothers", "Islam is the Solution", and "Allah is our objective; the Qur'an is the Constitution; the Prophet is our leader; jihad is our way; death for the sake of Allah is our wish." It is financed by members, who are required to allocate a portion of their income to the movement, and was for many years financed by Saudi Arabia, with whom it shared some enemies and some points of doctrine.

According to the Daily Caller, Khan’s website shows he specializes in the E-2 and EB-5 programs, which provides U.S. green cards to foreigners who invest at least $500,000 into certain American businesses.
As Jessica Vaughan, the policy director for the Center for Immigration Studies explained it to the Washington Examiner:
“The E-2 and EB-5 programs are two of the most notoriously abused visa categories that essentially allow wealthy foreigners to buy their way to U.S. residency, and possibly citizenship, with a relatively modest investment.”
Vaughan calls the EB-5 program a “citizenship for sale” program:
“It’s an amazing deal. Compared to other countries, America is the Walmart of investor visa programs.”
According to Walid Shoebat, a former jihadist whose mother was an American, and so was educated in Chicago. Khizr Khan is a Muslim Brotherhood agent working to bring pro-jihadi Muslims in to the United States for the express purpose of helping construct a plan to conquer the U.S. for Islam.
“Saudi interests [are] using Khan to advance Muslim immigration and advance Muslim Sharia.… [Khan] has ties to Hillary Clinton’s aid Huma Abedin as well.”

During this time many fleeing members were welcomed in London, where they set up a presence that remains to this day, and a number of them also relocated in Syria, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
