The self-proclaimed "Savage" has had a successful run in the early 2000s with his hit songs, "Gimme That" featuring Bun B, "Bad B****" and "Independent." Now, during the rapper's sit-down with DJ Vlad, he talks about his recent album Savage Life 5, working with Snoop Dogg, how he began working with Boosie BadAzz and spending $40K in a strip club in one night. Most may assume that Lil Webbie and Boosie may have crossed paths while growing up in Baton Rouge, Louisana, but he says it was unlikely since they lived in different parts, and their official meeting was set up by his label when he was 15. "He be in there with his click, I'll come in there with mine... and [as] time goes by [the] relationship [grew]." As he exploded onto the rap scene, so did his pockets. So when fans doubted if he was ballin' while hanging out at a local strip club, he says he had to show them that he was still stacking and threw a large lump sum into the air. "[They were like] 'They ain't got no money, they ain't throwing no money," he said, "I done threw all my f****** money in that b****, that b**** [sic] about 40 racks in that b****."

Webbie

Webster Gradney, Jr. (born September 6, 1985), who performs under the mononym Webbie, is an American rapper, songwriter and actor from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He's been signed to the independent Trill Entertainment label since 2003. In 2005 he came into the hip hop scene with "Gimme That" featuring Bun B. His songs "Bad Bitch" and "Swerve" were featured on Gangsta Musik, his 2003 group album with Lil Boosie, and in the 2005 movie Hustle & Flow. Webbie's second album, Savage Life 2, was released in early 2008 with the hit single "Independent" featuring Lil Boosie and Lil Phat.

Early life

Webbie was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. His mother died when he was nine years old so his parental care was split between his father and grandmother. Ever since he was five years old, he had been writing rhymes, and throughout his childhood he had become an avid fan of hardcore rap artists including Southern hip hop performers Master P, Eightball & MJG, the Geto Boys, and UGK.

Music career

Webbie first appeared on Lil Boosie's album For My Thugz on the track "Gotta Get It" in 2002. He and Lil Boosie released Ghetto Stories in 2003 and Gangsta Musik in 2004. As Webbie's solo track "Give Me That" featuring Bun B was frequently featured in mixtapes, as a label Trill Entertainment was growing in popularity & was signed for a distribution deal at Asylum Records along with (Webbie). After he was signed there, his major-label debut Savage Life was released in 2005, debuting at number eight on the US Billboard 200 chart.

The deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile has everyone up in arms in protest and strategized boycotts. Although these actions may not bring back the countless black lives that died at the hands of police; celebrities, activist, and millions worldwide are trying to raise awareness on police brutality and their targeted tactics. When the shooting video of Sterling in Baton Rouge, La. went viral, the incident stirred hundreds of protests and prompted rapper Webbie to head to his hometown to be around those affected by the traumatic event. During his interview with DJ Vlad, the "Independent" rapper called the situation "crazy" and recalled his personal run-in with police. While talking about Boosie's claims that police allegedly stole jewelry from his home, he says he has had the same experience. "I came to my house and took some money. We went to the people, and we took the test and everything," he said regarding a polygraph test. When the topic of legalities and incriminating the officers involved in the shooting came up, Webbie explained he believes jail wouldn't suffice and that only a higher power will give them their final judgement one day. Back in 2014, 50 Cent lost a $1 million bet with Webbie over the Terence Crawford/Yuriorkis Gamboa boxing match, which Webbie spoke about during an exclusive interview with VladTV. When asked about settling the bet, the Baton Rouge rapper said that he and 50 Cent worked everything out, and Webbie added that he would be out looking for someone if the debt wasn't settled. During the conversation, Webbie also revealed that he has recently experienced seizures, that he claims have led to some memory loss. Now, during the rapper's sit-down with DJ Vlad, he talks about his recent album Savage Life 5, working with Snoop Dogg, how he began working with Boosie BadAzz and spending $40K in a strip club in one night. Most may assume that Lil Webbie and Boosie may have crossed paths while growing up in Baton Rouge, Louisana, but he says it was unlikely since they lived in different parts, and their official meeting was set up by his label when he was 15. "He be in there with his click, I'll come in there with mine... and [as] time goes by [the] relationship [grew]." As he exploded onto the rap scene, so did his pockets. So when fans doubted if he was ballin' while hanging out at a local strip club, he says he had to show them that he was still stacking and threw a large lump sum into the air. "[They were like] 'They ain't got no money, they ain't throwing no money," he said, "I done threw all my f****** money in that b****, that b**** [sic] about 40 racks in that b****."

We went to the people, and we took the test and everything," he said regarding a polygraph test. When the topic of legalities and incriminating the officers involved in the shooting came up, Webbie explained he believes jail wouldn't suffice and that only a higher power will give them their final judgement one day. We sat down and did an exclusive interview with Webbie for VladTV. In the interview he talked with us about if he would smash Whoopi Goldberg, his album "Savage Life 5" being number one, and Boosie's comments in a previous VladTV interview on being gay. At the beginning of the interview, Webbie explained to us a woman tried to rape him the night before he came in to talk with us, "I gotta stay strapped!" Going further into a discussion on women, Webbie let us know he would indeed mess around with Whoopie Goldberg, "That woman deserves some good d*ck.. she's a hard working independent woman... Shoutout to Whoopie I'll whoop that a** from the back." He talked to us about his hit single "Independent" and "Bad B*tch" and how people may not understand the exact meaning of the songs. The songs represent strong women getting money not necessarily just looks. Referring to the Boosie interview with Vladtv were Boosie expresses, "They're trying to make everybody f*cking gay.." Webbie says he's not gay, but he says the world is going to keep turning, and we're going to keep seeing change. "We gotta keep praying and keep our faith in the Lord." In regards to his children, Webbie wants his kids to be as educated as possible, him not graduating from High School fuels him to make sure her children live a better life. At first, Webbie denied being the erratic one out of the pair; however, DJ Vlad brought up an instance that Boosie talked up in a classic VladTV interview where he recalled Webbie jumping off a balcony onto someone's Range Rover after a group of men called them "Pu**y." Boosie says that his entourage ran down to make sure he was ok, but instead they joined in on the major brawl. "Watch it again, he ain't lying," Webbie admitted that the incident seemed like it was a scene from a movie, but says he did hurt himself pretty bad from the fall and only pursued the fight because of the female onlookers nearby. "I had all them fine a** h*** sitting around, looking and s***. I'm trying to play that s*** off. I hurt my f****** wrist too. Man, I really had to get his ass to whoop his a**." Also in the interview, the rapper briefly talks about his 2011 beef with 106 & Park hosts Rocsi Diaz and Terrence J. The incident made headlines after she alleged he sexually harassed her and later got him banned from BET. Webbie explained to DJ Vlad that they only had a "sexy talk." Watch the full clip above.
