Aval Varuvala (English: Will She Come Over?) is a 1998 Tamil film directed by Raj Kapoor. The movie is a remake of 1997 Telugu movie Pelli which itself was based on the 1980 Malayalam film Manjil Virinja Pookkal and the 1991 Hollywood thriller Sleeping with the Enemy.The film featured Simran and Sujatha and Babloo Prithviraj in other significant roles.
Ajith Kumar (as Jeeva), who lives with his grandmother in Madurai, says he would marry the girl he likes at first sight. He goes to Chennai after getting a job as a bank manager there. In a shopping mall, he gets a glimpse of Simran (as Divya) and promptly falls in love. He identifies her scooter model and soon he goes on a mission in search of her to end up in a colony surrounded by comedians (Goundamani, Senthil, Venniradai Moorthy, Dhamu, Kovai Sarala). The colony people mistakenly thought that Jeeva is trying to steal the scooter and therefore he lied that he was looking for a house to rent. Then, he agreed to stay in the colony after conforming that Divya and her mother, Sujatha (as Janaki) is residing in the colony.
Ajith Kumar (born 1 May 1971) is an Indian film actor working predominantly in Tamil cinema. He has won three Filmfare Best Actor Awards, all for films which showcased him in multiple roles. In addition to his acting, Ajith, in a sabbatical, participated in the 2004 British Formula 3 season as a Formula Two racing driver and was ranked the third best motor car driver in India at his peak.
He began his career as a supporting actor in a Telugu film before gaining critical recognition in the Tamil thriller Aasai (1995), before going on to establish himself as a romantic hero with Kadhal Kottai (1996), Aval Varuvala (1998) and Kadhal Mannan (1998) being the most notable. He was later seen in method roles as in Vaali (1999), Mugavaree (2000), Kandukondain Kandukondain (2000) and Citizen (2001) before establishing himself as an action hero with popular films, including Amarkalam (1999), Dheena (2001), Attagasam (2004), Varalaru (2006), Billa (2007), Mankatha (2011), Arrambam (2013), Veeram (2014), Yennai Arindhaal (2015) and Vedalam (2015).
Babloo Prithiveeraj is an Indian film actor, who has appeared in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada language films. He has also featured extensively on Tamil television serials throughout the 1990s and 2000s.
Prithveeraj made his acting debut as a child artiste and featured in films including Naan Vazhavaippen (1979), under the stage name of Babloo. He then appeared in supporting roles in Tamil and Telugu films through the 1990s and the early 2000s, often portraying an antagonist.
As film offers became less frequent, Prithveeraj spent a year competing as a part of the dance reality show, Jodi Number One during its second season. During the show, he was involved in an on-air altercation with actor and show judge Silambarasan. Since 2010, he has predominantly concentrated on television roles and has featured as a lead character in the soap, Vani Rani. In 2014, he set up a bubble tea shop, Cha Republic, in Besant Nagar, Chennai after being inspired to set up a store following a visit to Malaysia.
Ranbir Raj Kapoor (14 December 1924 – 2 June 1988), also known as "The Show Man", was a noted Indian film actor, producer and director of Hindi cinema. He was the winner of 2 National Film Awards and 11 Filmfare Awards in India, and a two-time nominee for the Palme d'Or grand prize at the Cannes Film Festival for his films Awaara (1951) and Boot Polish (1954). His performance in Awaara was ranked as one of the top ten greatest performances of all time by Time magazine. His films attracted worldwide audiences, particularly in Asia and Europe. The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Bhushan in 1971 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1987 for his contributions towards Indian cinema. He was called the Clark Gable of the Indian film industry.
Raj Kapoor was born in Dhakki Munawwar Shah near Qissa Khwani in Peshawar, (then) India (modern day North Pakistan) into a Hindu Punjabi family to Prithviraj Kapoor and Ramsarni Devi Kapoor. He was the eldest of six children in the family. He was the grandson of Dewan Basheshwarnath Kapoor and great-grandson of Dewan Keshavmal Kapoor, part of the famous Kapoor family. His brothers are actors Shashi Kapoor and the late Shammi Kapoor. He also had a sister named Urmila Sial. Two other siblings died in infancy. They later on moved from Peshawar into present-day India for residence and for education.
Kovai Sarala (Tamil :கோவை சரளா) is an Indian Film actress and comedian, who prominently plays supporting roles in Tamil and Telugu films. In a career spanning more than 30 years, Sarala has appeared in over 750 films. She has won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Comedian three times, for her performances in Sathi Leelavathi (1995), Poovellam Un Vasam (2001) and Uliyin Osai (2008). She has also won the Nandi Award for Best Female Comedian for her performance in Ori Nee Prema Bangaram Kanu (2003) and the Vijay Award for Best Comedian for her performance in Muni 2: Kanchana (2011).
Kovai Sarala was born into a Malayali family in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Sarala had developed interest in acting, after watching MGR's films. She completed her studies and entered the film industry with the support of her sister and father.
She got her first film offer when she was in the 9th standard and acted with Vijayakumar and K. R. Vijaya in the film Velli Ratham. She was in Class X, when she played a 32-year-old pregnant woman Mundhanai Mudichu, her second film. Two years later she acted in Chinna Veedu, where she played the role of the 65-year-old mother of Bhagyaraj's character. She has appeared in more than a 100 films in Telugu. She has mentioned the films Sathi Leelavathi, Viralukketha Veekkam, Varavu Ettana Selavu Pathana, Karagattakaran and Viswanathan Ramamoorthy as her personal favourites.
