The Hollow is a work of detective fiction by Agatha Christie, first published in the United States by Dodd, Mead & co. in 1946 and in the United Kingdom by the Collins Crime Club in November of the same year. The US edition retailed at $2.50 and the UK edition at eight shillings and sixpence (8/6). A paperback edition in the US by Dell books in 1954 changed the title to Murder after Hours.
The novel is a fine example of a "country house mystery" and was the first of her novels in four years to feature Christie's Belgian detective Hercule Poirot—one of the longest gaps in the entire series. Christie, who often admitted that she did not like Poirot (a fact parodied by her recurring novelist character Ariadne Oliver), particularly disliked his appearance in this novel. His late arrival, jarring, given the established atmosphere, led Christie to claim in her Autobiography that she "ruined [her own novel] by the introduction of Poirot". Agatha Christie's successful career foresaw the use of her eight owned houses as settings for her novels, which were Taken at the Flood, Dead Man's Folly, Five Little Pigs, A Pocket Full of Rye, and Crooked House. However the setting for The Hollow, (the house, pool, and paths), was taken from Francis L. Sullivan's house. Francis Loftus Sullivan was an English film and stage actor who portrayed Hercule Poirot in the plays Black Coffee (play) (1930), Peril at End House(1932), and The Witness for the Prosecution (1953), for which he won a Tony Award in 1955.
The Hollow Men is a poem by T. S. Eliot.

"The Hollow Men" (1925) is a poem by T. S. Eliot. Its themes are, like many of Eliot's poems, overlapping and fragmentary, but it is recognized to be concerned most with post-World War I Europe under the Treaty of Versailles (which Eliot despised: compare "Gerontion"), the difficulty of hope and religious conversion, and, as some critics argue, Eliot's own failed marriage (Vivienne Eliot might have been having an affair with Bertrand Russell). The poem is divided into five parts and consists of 98 lines of which the last four are "probably the most quoted lines of any 20th-century poet writing in English".
Eliot wrote that he produced the title "The Hollow Men" by combining the titles of the romance "The Hollow Land" by William Morris with the poem "The Broken Men" by Rudyard Kipling: but it is possible that this is one of Eliot's many constructed allusions, and that the title originates more transparently from Shakespeare's Julius Caesar or from the character Kurtz in Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness who is referred to as a "hollow sham" and "hollow at the core".

Hollow Man is a 2000 American-German science fiction-thriller-horror film directed by Paul Verhoeven and starring Elisabeth Shue and Kevin Bacon. Bacon portrays the title character, a scientist who renders himself invisible and goes on a killing spree, a story inspired by H. G. Wells' novel The Invisible Man. The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Visual Effects in 2001, but lost to Gladiator.
The film is Verhoeven's most recent American production. In 2013, Verhoeven remarked to The Hollywood Reporter: "I decided after Hollow Man, this is a movie, the first movie that I made that I thought I should not have made. It made money and this and that, but it really is not me anymore. I think many other people could have done that. I don't think many people could have made RoboCop that way, or either Starship Troopers. But Hollow Man, I thought there might have been 20 directors in Hollywood who could have done that. I felt depressed with myself after 2002." It partly contributed in his return to the Netherlands, his home country, where he made Black Book in 2006, which was considered a return to form.

Eyes I dare
Not meet in dreams
Cowering
Behind them
Keep on falling
Lying with you
In the wind
Of twilight time
Dying light
Remember
Let me live
Hollow men
You can't help me
Only choice you have
Watch me burn inside
Stuffed men
Keep denying me
In your world you're dead
Falls the Shadow
Keep my hands
This time
Fall with me
Now to eternity
I'll go on
I'll bring to you
Like death
Dark dreams of
Our life again
Stand with me
With pride
Hiding won't
This time
Save me
Fade no more
Your light
Bound to live
My true I
Live your thoughts
Just try
Find inside my mind
Find me
Keep untold
My night
For this time
I can't die
The Hollow men
Keep my hands
Just try
Fall with me
Now to eternity
Like a ghost I
Keep untold
My night
For this time
Be with me
Eyes I dare
Not meet in dreams
But this time
I will know who I am
Keep on falling
Lying with you
In the wind
Of twilight time
Dying light
Remember
