Howdy, Game headz! Time for some more game show gold, and this one's a gem. Since it's initial CBS debut on October 2, 1961, creator Bob Stewart's timeless game of word communication Password was an institution in American households across the country. The formula was simple, two teams each composed of a celebrity and a civilian competed. The word to be conveyed (the "password") was given to one player on each team and was shown to the studio audience and home viewers. Game play alternated between the two teams. On each team, the player who was given the password gave a one-word clue from which his/her partner attempted to guess the password. If the partner failed to guess the password within the allotted five-second time limit, or if an illegal clue was given (two or more words, a hyphenated word, or any part or form of the password), play passed to the opposing team. The game continued until one of the players guessed the password correctly or until ten clues had been given. Scoring was based on the number of clues given when the password was guessed, eg 10 points were awarded for guessing the password on the first clue, nine points on the second clue, eight points on the third clue, etc., down to one point on the tenth and final clue. If the clue-giver said the password, the points were awarded to the opposing team. Rolie Polie Olie tv show was a great experience. The animation was in Sparxanimation studio, unfortunately closed now. I started in season 2 as a checking layout, then became a character animator for season 3 and 4, then I worked as a Director animator for the 6th season in Vietnam.
My best memory from that project comes from the time I was an animator on it. The team was great, the best I have had the opportunity to work with. Strong personalities, talented people, funny, sensitive, authentic. Everyone had a different animation approach, it was very inspiring. We worked in the basement, the smoking room, at that time we were able to smoke at work, this room was also called “ LA CAVE ”….
We worked hard because we had to deliver 4 seconds a day. At that time forget about playing your scene in real time, model was nurbs surface, and playblast took ages, the software was maya 3,7.
We worked hard, but we could also afford sometimes to have a break and things went totally crazy for 10 to 20 minutes, I believe the production team upstairs were sometimes scared, after the nervous breakdown ;-) we were back to work as normal. After work we used to stay at the office to play video game quake arena, I remember some breathless time without mercy…
We were under the animation direction of Michel, with whom I learned a lot about cartoon animation, I am very thankful.
Rolie Polie Olie won a Gemini Award in Canada for "Best Animated Program" in 1999. The show also won a Daytime Emmy Award for "Outstanding Special Class Animated Program" in 1999 and 2000.

Call him Mini-sota Fats. An upstate New York two-year-old is being dubbed a billiards prodigy by dazzling crowds across the country with his pool playing prowess. Keith O'Dell Jr. of Johnstown was invited to perform at the American Pool Association's championship competition in Las Vegas last month, and he's booked to show his skills on the Rachael Ray show in July. The wiz kid learned the game on a child size table, but recently switched to regulation size. He reaches the balls by standing on a chair. It all started a few weeks before Christmas when the boy's parents, Keith Sr. and Courtney O'Dell, were in a discount store and saw a miniature pool table. Keith Sr., an avid player, thought his son was too young to enjoy it, but bought the table anyway. Keith Jr. opened it Christmas morning and surprised his parents when he started shooting on his own. The O'Dells have no explanation for their son's success, but say he learned by watching his dad shoot 200 racks every night. His parents say the boy's learning hasn't been limited to billiard games - pool is also teaching their son colors and how to count. Outside the cue sports industry, pocket billiards is almost exclusively referred to as "pool", due to a perhaps unfortunate association with the "poolrooms" where gamblers "pooled" their money to bet remotely ("off-track") on horse races.
