The village of Boxley in the Maidstone District of Kent, England lies below the slope of the North Downs approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) north-east of the centre of Maidstone town. The larger civil parish of Boxley has a population of 7,144 (2001 census), and extends to the north and east of the town including the settlements of Boxley itself, Grove Green, most of Weavering Street, Sandling and the southern extremities of Walderslade and Lordswood at the top of Blue Bell Hill.
The M2 and M20 motorways cross the parish to the north and south of the village and the High Speed 1 railway line passes to the south of the village in cuttings and tunnel. Despite being so close to Maidstone and two motorways, the village is surrounded by woodland, and still retains a village feel. The ruins of Boxley Abbey are located here. The parish church is dedicated to St Mary and All Saints. The church and the Abbey Barn are both Grade I listed buildings and the site of the abbey is a scheduled monument. Boxley Abbey House, Parsonage Farm and St Andrew's Chapel in Boxley and Weavering Manor in Weavering Street are all Grade II* listed. The Pilgrims' Way trackway and the North Downs Way pass through the parish. The village was the filming location for the film version of Porridge.
St Pancras, St. Pancras or Saint Pancras may refer to:
High Speed is a 1986 pinball game designed by Steve Ritchie and released by Williams Electronics. This game was based on Ritchie's real-life police chase inside a 1979 Porsche 928. He was finally caught in Lodi, California on Interstate 5 and accused of speeding at 146 mph.
During its design, High Speed was jokingly called "High Cost" by some rival Williams designers due to its then-high production cost. The advances in the mechanical design that went into High Speed, coupled with the machine's popularity, led to many machines being kept in service much longer than was previously the norm. The play surfaces of the machine were not initially given as much attention, leading to many High Speed machines seeing service to this day in extremely worn condition. Williams rapidly addressed this issue by making mylar playfield covers available and later adding hard clear paint coats to their playfields. Canadian specialist Classic Playfield Reproductions produced an officially licensed High Speed 13-color Reproduction Playfield, which shipped as limited edition in 2014.
St Pancras railway station (/seɪnt ˈpæŋkrəs/ or /sənt ˈpæŋkrəs/), also known as London St Pancras and since 2007 as St Pancras International, is a central London railway terminus and Grade I listed building located on Euston Road in the London Borough of Camden.
Widely known for its Victorian architecture, the station stands between the British Library, King's Cross station and the Regent's Canal. It was opened in 1868 by the Midland Railway as the southern terminus of its main line which connected London with the East Midlands and Yorkshire. When it opened, the arched Barlow train shed was the largest single-span roof in the world.
After escaping planned demolition in the 1960s, the complex was renovated and expanded from 2001 to 2007 at a cost of £800 million with a ceremony attended by Queen Elizabeth II and extensive publicity introducing it as a public space. A security-sealed terminal area was constructed for Eurostar services to continental Europe via High Speed 1 and the Channel Tunnel, with platforms for domestic trains to the north and south-east of England. The restored station has 15 platforms, a shopping centre and a coach facility, and is served by London Underground's King's Cross St. Pancras station. St Pancras is owned by HS1 and is managed by Network Rail (High Speed), a subsidiary of Network Rail.
The Channel Tunnel (French: Le tunnel sous la Manche; also referred to as the Chunnel) is a 50.5-kilometre (31.4 mi) rail tunnel linking Folkestone, Kent, in the United Kingdom, with Coquelles, Pas-de-Calais, near Calais in northern France, beneath the English Channel at the Strait of Dover. At its lowest point, it is 75 m (250 ft) deep. At 37.9 kilometres (23.5 mi), the tunnel has the longest undersea portion of any tunnel in the world, although the Seikan Tunnel in Japan is both longer overall at 53.85 kilometres (33.46 mi) and deeper at 240 metres (790 ft) below sea level. The speed limit in the tunnel is 160 kilometres per hour (99 mph).
The tunnel carries high-speed Eurostar passenger trains, the Eurotunnel Shuttle for road vehicles—the largest such transport in the world—and international freight trains. The tunnel connects end-to-end with the LGV Nord and High Speed 1 high-speed railway lines.
Ideas for a cross-Channel fixed link appeared as early as 1802, but British political and press pressure over the compromising of national security stalled attempts to construct a tunnel. An early attempt at building a Channel Tunnel was made in the late 19th century, on the English side "in the hope of forcing the hand of the English Government". The eventual successful project, organised by Eurotunnel, began construction in 1988 and opened in 1994. At £4.65 billion, the project came in 80% over its predicted budget. Since its construction, the tunnel has faced several problems. Both fires and cold weather have disrupted its operation. Illegal immigrants have attempted to use the tunnel to enter the UK, causing a minor diplomatic disagreement over the siting of the refugee camp at Sangatte, which was eventually closed in 2002.

Video: Part 1 of my YouTube Channel's 1 year Birthday and my 600 subscriber milestone Special! This is a selection of videos I took of UK High Speed Trains on the HS1 line which runs from London St. Pancras to the Channel Tunnel in Kent. After getting the opportunity whilst I was near the area, I walked down through some fields on a public walkway to visit a small section of the High Speed 1 line at Boxley. The line cuts straight through the greenland at Boxley and runs pretty much parallel with the distant Motorway 20, all the way to the Channel Tunnel. This was the second time visiting this certain part of the line. I remember taking a walk around this area many years ago and specifically remember this cattle and pedestrian footbridge, which lies in the middle of no-where. Using the h...

In this video, we look at my train journey from Paris Gare du Nord to London St Pancras station on board a Eurostar train. We start off checking in at the Eurostar designated section of Gare du Nord in Paris. After check-in, I proceed through immigration & security to enter the secured section of the train station. It's soon time to board. I enter my Standard Class carriage and put my trolley away on the baggage rack then take my pre-assigned seat. I review the cabin & seat, and the other on-board offerings that come with Eurostar Standard Class. We soon arrive at St Pancras station, and I quickly pass through a customs checkpoint before I take an Uber to my hotel. _________________________________________________________________ Music: Uplifting Classical | Inspiring Piano and Strings...

This is a long video showing the journey from Folkestone (UK/England) to Calais/Fréthun (France) on Saturday 3rd December 2016 on the Eurotunnel Le Shuttle (Channel Tunnel) tunnel shuttle service. The videos were taken onboard a coach during a day trip to Lille Christmas Market so there is a bit of talking throughout the video, not done by me. This was the outward crossing to France. The time of our shuttle train was about 08:40 (UK Time). The video shows mostly the whole journey through the check-in and waiting for boarding to commence. It then shows the journey through the 23.5 mile tunnel in the passenger carriages. The junction for the Channel Tunnel is the M20 11A exit (for vehicles travelling southbound from the North) and M20 12 exit (for vehicles travelling northbound from the so...
Eurostar train from Paris To London. The Eurostar train travels in between London and Paris or Brussels, speeding through English, French, and Belgium countrysides and under the English Channel through the Chunnel! It is a great alternative to flying!

The videos were taken onboard a coach during a day trip to Lille Christmas Market so there is a bit of talking throughout the video, not done by me. This was the return crossing to the UK. The time of our shuttle train was about 18:30 (UK Time) which is why it was quite dark. As it was quite dark and I had limited storage on my phone, I didn't record the whole journey through passport control and the wait to board the platforms. From going through Check-In, I skipped the 60 minutes from waiting to get through customs and waiting to board the train. The trains consist of two Class 009 Eurotunnel...
