Gazole (community development block)

Gazole (community development block) (also spelt Gajol) is an administrative division in Malda Sadar subdivision of Malda district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Gazole police station serves this block. Headquarters of this block is at Gazole. There is a Bengali Band named "NH34" in Gazole. Their website is nh34.tk.

Geography

Gazole community development block has an area of 513.73 km².

The ruins of the historic city Pandua are located in Gazole block and also naturally growing a forest which called Adina Forest (It is a Deer Partk).

Gazole is an intermediate panchayat in Malda district. Village panchayats under it are – Alal, Babupur, Bairagachi I & II, Chaknagar, Deotala, Gazole I & II, Karkach, Majhra, Pandua, Raniganj I & II, Sahajadpur, and Salaidanga. Gazole is a very beautiful village. Gazole will become a municitipality very soon. But the villages of Gajole particularly populated by Rajbangshi, Poliya Deshia and Santal are highly neglected because these communities are simple, honest and introvert.

Carlos Salgado

Carlos Salgado (? - October 11, 2007) was a Honduran radio journalist and comedian. Salgado hosted a satirical radio show called Bean the Terrible and focused on social commentary and the satirising of well-known public figures in Honduras. His career as a popular radio journalist and commentator last more than 40 years.

Assassination

Salgado was shot several times as he left his job at Radio Cadena Voices in Tegucigalpa on October 11, 2007. He was taken to a local hospital in the capital city where he was pronounced dead. Salgado was 67 years old. Salgado's killers escaped. It was unclear exactly why Salgado was murdered, though his radio show often criticized social conditions and politics in Honduras.

Before the murder, some of the station's journalists had been intimidated and received death threats. Manuel Zelaya had said to the station's correspondent Carolina Torres "If I was Hugo Chávez, I would have had this radio station shut down a long time ago." Salgado's killing came at a time of increased tension between the Honduran media and the government of Honduran President Manuel Zelaya. The Honduran media had been increasingly critical of several of Zelaya's policies.

Zipi y Zape

Zipi y Zape are the names of two iconic Spanish comic book characters created by José Escobar Saliente in 1947, and of their eponymous strip. With Mortadelo y Filemón, they are the most popular and most translated Spanish comic books. Their name is derived from the Spanish word zipizape, meaning "turmoil" or "chaos."

Zipi and Zape Zapatilla are two young twins who do poorly in school. Mischievous and energetic, they are fans of soccer. They are distinguished solely by their hair color: Zipi is blond, Zape black-haired. Other featured characters are their father, Don Pantuflo Zapatilla, a professor of Philately and Colombophilia (pantuflo/a and zapatilla are both Spanish names for slippers); their mother, the hard-pressed Doña Jaimita; Don Minervo, their strict teacher; Peloto, the teacher’s pet (and thus the twins’ enemy); Sapientín (sometimes called "Pitagorin", as a reference to Pithagoras), their genius cousin and Pepe and Felisa Plómez, the extremely annoying friends of their parents, whose undesirable visits they try to avoid or cut short.

Joaquín Gutiérrez

Joaquín Gutiérrez Mangel (30 March 1918 – 16 October 2000) was a Costa Rican writer who won multiple awards, and whose children's book Cocorí has been translated into ten languages. In addition to writing children's books, Gutiérrez was a chess champion, war correspondent, journalist, story-teller, translator, professor, and communist activist.

Early life

Born to Paula Gutiérrez Ross and Estela Mangel Rosat in Limón on the Caribbean coast, the geographic area that inspired Cocorí, Gutiérrez moved to San José when he was nine years old and studied at Buenaventura Corrales Elementary and then the Colegio Seminario (Seminary School). While attending Liceo de Costa Rica (Costa Rica High School), Gutiérrez and five other students founded a group called the Leftist Student Wing. In 1934, he graduated from Liceo de Costa Rica. He began studying law but was expelled during a student strike. Gutiérrez's father sent him to New York to study English for a year. During his year in New York, he cultivated a friendship with Costa Rican communist Manuel Mora, one of the leaders of the Costa Rican Civil War.
