Mena (name)

Mena is both a Basque and Sephardic surname and a feminine given name.

Basque meaning

Found in the valley of Mena (Alava, which today is Burgos), with branches in Bilbao and in Dima (Biscay) and it appears to have also moved from there into Navarre. It appears to mean mineral or a vein of mineral deposits, however at least one author, Lopez Mendizabal, holds that its meaning is pastoral.

Mena (crater)

Mena is a crater on Mercury. It has a diameter of 25 kilometers. Its name was adopted by the International Astronomical Union in 1976. Mena is named for the Spanish poet Juan de Mena, who lived from 1411 to 1456.

Ricardo (footballer, born 1980)

Ricardo Jorge Ferreira Pinto da Silva (born 19 August 1980), simply known as Ricardo, is a Cape Verdean professional footballer who plays for F.C. Paços de Ferreira as a central defender or right back.

Club career

Ricardo was born in Azurém, Guimarães, Portugal, and he started playing football with amateurs Centro de Cultura e Desporto Desportivo de Ronfe and GD Serzedelo. In the following three years he played in the third division, representing F.C. Famalicão (one season) and S.C. Freamunde (two).

In the 2004 summer Ricardo moved straight to the Primeira Liga, signing with S.C. Beira-Mar. He featured in 29 games in his first season (24 starts), but suffered team relegation; he continued to appear regularly for the Aveiro club during his spell, overall playing two seasons apiece in each of Portugal's major levels.

Ricardo returned to the top flight for 2008–09, joining F.C. Paços de Ferreira. In the following campaign's opener he scored with his head to earn his team a point against FC Porto in a 1–1 home draw, and was an everpresent defensive figure in his two-year stint.

Ricardo (comic book character)

Ricardo is a Flemish comic book character and the main antagonist in The Adventures of Nero series by Marc Sleen. He is a ruthless maffiosi who hates Nero with a passion. Together with Geeraard de Duivel and Matsuoka Ricardo is Nero's most frequent opponent, appearing in at least 24 albums, even surviving several seemingly deaths.

Character

Ricardo is a gangster with a distinctive stereotypical Italian appearance, down to his crooked nose and black curly moustache. Yet in later albums it is revealed that he was in fact born on the Isle of Malta. Ricardo knows no mercy, can't be trusted and doesn't shy away from shooting anyone who gets in his way. He often misses or only makes a hole in people's hats. Still, sometimes he does wound his opponents, like Abraham Tuizentfloot in "Het Spook van Zoetendaal" ("The Ghost of Zoetendaal") (1979-1980) and Jan Spier in "Het Jaar van Ricardo" ("Ricardo's Year") (1987), but in both cases it's just a grazing shot. Ricardo has murdered people too, like his accomplice Alfredo and a sea captain

Ricardo (TV series)

Ricardo is a daily French-language cooking show that airs weekdays on Radio-Canada and is hosted by Ricardo Larrivée. He presents accessible recipes alone or accompanied by a guest or a member of his rotating panel of contributors: nutritionists Hélène Laurendeau and Christina Blais, gardener Pierre Gingras and sommelier François Chartier.

The show moved in 2006 from a television studio to a purpose-built kitchen in Ricardo's home in Chambly, Quebec.
