Ottawa (i/ˈɒtəwə/ or /ˈɒtəwɑː/; French pronunciation: [ɔtawa]) is the capital city of Canada. It stands on the south bank of the Ottawa River in the eastern portion of Southern Ontario. Ottawa borders Gatineau, Quebec; the two form the core of the Ottawa–Gatineau census metropolitan area (CMA) and the National Capital Region (NCR). The 2011 census reported a population of 883,391 within the city, making it the fourth-largest city in Canada, and 1,236,324 within the CMA, making it the fourth-largest CMA in Canada. The City of Ottawa has since estimated it had a population of 951,727 in 2014.
Founded in 1826 as Bytown, and incorporated as "Ottawa" in 1855, the city has evolved into a political and technological centre of Canada. Its original boundaries were expanded through numerous minor annexations and were ultimately replaced by a new city incorporation and major amalgamation in 2001 which significantly increased its land area. The city name "Ottawa" was chosen in reference to the Ottawa River nearby, which is a word derived from the Algonquin word Odawa, meaning "to trade".

Genres: Adventure,https://www.expedia.com/Ottawa.d178296.Destination-Travel-Guides Welcome to Ottawa, Ontario, where you’ll find charming old-world buildings surrounded by picturesque natural beauty. The first stop on an Ottawa tour should be the Rideau Canal. This waterway cuts the city in half, and it provides places for boating and paddleboarding during the summer. Visiting in winter? Not a problem—you can go ice skating along the Rideau when it ices over. On the south side of the river, you can see the Changing of the Guard Ceremony at Parliament Hill. A few blocks to the north is the National Gallery of Canada, a stunning glass-and-granite building full of art from Canadian, European, and other North American artists. You’ll be hungry after all this walking around, so head to ByWard Market. If you...

THE ORIGINAL SIX, AKA OTTAWA HAS ITS OWN SLANG TOO! shoutout to @heyparis for the idea ****DISCLAIMER: it's come to my attention that some of you have taken this video WAAAYYYY too seriously lmao and you're freaking out over the definition of some of these words. Let me just tell you now, it's NOT that serious. I come from the SOUTH END, which means that the the slang I heard was probably used differently than yours. If you're really that hurt over how we used the slang in this video, then leave a nice lil comment explaining how you use the word. But at the end of the day, Ottawa is a super underrated city and this video was just to bring some exposure and have some fun with the locals. Don't cry over a 10 min YouTube vid lmao if you're that hurt, make your own video 😭 when it comes to wo...

Walking past one,
Do you want to try for Ottawa?
Let's keep heading north,
Where the sun doesn't boil.
Five blocks past falling,
Bricks and caves and signs,
We'll turn around,
It's so far today.
Next night past one,
I say let's try for Oregon;
The steams were lifting from the road.
If we had some dollars,
The bus would take us anywhere.
But then we'd miss
these humid steams and stars.
Trying to sleep,
The walls were cracking with the heat;
And outside,
The paint was sweating off the walls.
And from the roof,
We saw the neighbors were up too,
And they packed their bags to drive away.
Walking past one,
Do you want to try for Ottawa?
Let's keep heading north,
