Yankee Stadium is a stadium, used mainly for baseball and soccer, located in The Bronx, New York City. It is the home ballpark for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (MLB) and the home stadium for New York City FC of Major League Soccer (MLS). The $2.3 billion stadium, built with $1.2 billion in public subsidies, replaced the original Yankee Stadium. It is one block north of the original, on the 24-acre former site of Macombs Dam Park; the 8-acre site of the original stadium is now a public park called Heritage Field. The first game at the new Yankee Stadium was a preseason exhibition game against the Chicago Cubs on April 3, 2009; the Yankees won, 7–4. The first regular-season game was played on April 16, a 10–2 Yankee loss to the Cleveland Indians.
The stadium incorporates replicas of some design elements from the original Yankee Stadium. Although stadium construction began in August 2006, the project spanned many years and faced many controversies, including the high public cost and the loss of public parkland. The overall price tag makes the new Yankee Stadium the most expensive stadium ever built.

Barbara, the Cota's and I flew to the Big Apple to see the Dodgers play in Yankee Stadium on September 13, 2016. This is the first pitch of a game the Dodgers ultimately lost 3-0. We still had a great time watching the game and touring their new stadium. Go Dodgers!

YanksAtShea is VERY proud to present the complete telecast of the greatest of all NY Yankee Retirement Ceremonies, Mickey Mantle Day 1969 as aired over WPIX-TV in New York on Sun. June 8, 1969. This was the second tribute given to Mantle (the first was presented before his retirement in August of 1965). This one, though, is by far the better of the two. It's a superb ceremony as written and choreographed by Yankee PR head Bob Fishel. Watch Frank Messer's superb turn as emcee (with a Bob Sheppard introduction) to the NINE minute(!) ovation given to Mickey after being introduced by Mel Allen ("How about that??"). And all telecast from the real and original Yankee Stadium. Sit back, enjoy, and even shed a tear for the Mick on this his greatest day (and he looks fantastic!). Pat Summerall i...
YanksAtShea presents the New York Yankees Memorial and Tribute to their captain, Thurman Munson, their great, gritty, blue-collar catcher from 1970-79, the day after his death in a tragic private plane crash. Yankee Stadium is packed in drizzle-like weather this night for a somber ceremony and tribute including a benediction by Terrance Cardinal Cooke and "America the Beautiful" sung by Robert Merrill. Once Merrill finishes singing the large crowd delivers in tribute to their Yankee Captain one of the longest ovations in Stadium history (from 21:20 to approx. 30:30 on the time counter!). Frank Messer and Bill White are the announcers. Long live the great Thurman Munson!!
