Uttaran is a daily Hindi soap broadcasting on the Indian channel Colors TV. It replaced Bigg Boss (Season 2) and went on air on December 1, 2008 at 10:00 pm. Within a month, it was able to retain a position among the Top 20 TV programmes in India.[citation needed] On June 22, 2009, the storyline of the show took a 10 year leap forward. On March 26, 2012, the story-line took an 18 year leap forward. It has also been dubbed in Tamil as Sindhu Bhairavi.[citation needed]
Uttaran is the story of two friends with diametrically opposite backgrounds. Tapasya is the daughter of a wealthy couple, Divya and Jogi Thakur; while Ichcha is the daughter of their poor, live-in domestic help, Damini Bharati. Ichcha uses clothes and other possessions that are cast-off by Tapasya. In spite of the vast difference in status, the little girls become best friends. Jogi Thakur discovers that he had accidentally caused the death of Ichcha's father long ago. He feels guilt-stricken and decides to become Ichcha's foster father, giving her the best possible upbringing. However, jealousy creeps into the girls relationship as Ichcha wins over Tapasya's family with her simple nature and good character. Divya's aunt Sumitra Devi (Nani), being resentful of Damini and Ichcha, poisons Tapasya's mind against her friend. Sumitra spreads rumours about Ichcha and Damini to Tapasya and she begins to hate her from that moment.
My conception
My life beginning as I bleed
Breathe in anger
Breathe the hatred as you need
Feel so empty
I watch another world collapse
As the other, it seems so real
The victim eternal with no other feelings
You wear your filth well as it drips
With your bleeding
Spilling your life and your filth
On your hands
Wash it away with the love your pretend
Tearing at meaning corrupting with healing
Drifting decline as it clutches for feeling
Spilling the life and your skin on your hands
Wash it away with the love you pretend
Bleeding the words as they crave for denial
You are holding my words
As they crave for denial
I am bleeding the words as they crave for denial
You are holding my words
As they bleed
They bleed for you
Spilling the blood I have made
And have shown for you
What does it mean if I offer my sins to you
Innocent to the end of this imposed tragedy
Broken wounds caught in my dreams
I gave up dying for my sins
Broken wounds caught in my dreams
