Hunger, poverty and homelessness can be found in every country. In fact, even the richest and most developed countries such as Germany, United Kingdom, Japan and the United States are homes to millions of people who live below the poverty line. In the case of the United States however, is particularly surprising given that it is the richest country in the world and yet possess some of the most alarming statistics when it comes to economically disadvantaged people. Recent studies have found that most Americans will spend at least one year below the poverty line at some point between ages 25 and 75. As for homelessness statistics, the numbers are just as sad. It is estimated that up to 3.5 million Americans experience homelessness for at least a few nights during the course of a year. What makes this figure even more heartbreaking is the fact that according to Amnesty International, vacant houses actually outnumber homeless people five to one. In other words, there are five empty houses per one homeless person. In the US, however, the populations in need vary greatly with individual states, regions and cities. WalletHub, a personal finance website based in Washington D.C., carried out an extensive research to find out where the highest concentrations of economically disadvantaged people are found. The analysts based the research on 16 key metrics such as the percentage of households receiving public assistance, food-insecurity rate and percentage of maltreated people. Business week has come up with an interesting list of the top 50 American cities to live in.
Number 10 is Anchorage, Alaska, which ranks high because of its fantastic air quality and ridiculous 1.7 park acres per resident.
9th on the list is San Francisco--a well-rounded city that has it all.
Number 8 is Virginia Beach, a beautiful beach city with miles of boardwalks.
San Diego, the city with the best weather in the country, is 7th on the list.
Ranked 6th is Washington DC, the nation's capital with some of the best museums in the world and the lowest foreclosure rate on the list.
Irvine, California - no. 5 - has the best schools of any city on the list and a median income of $92,195.
Fourth is Scottsdale, Arizona, the wealthy Phoenix suburb surprisingly beat out the california cities in the top 10.
Gorgeous Honolulu, HI comes in third with low unemployment and a low foreclosure rate.
Second is Arlington, Virginia with the lowest unemployment rate of cities on the list and ⅔ of its population holding college degrees.
And number one is Raleigh, NC. It is perhaps the most well-rounded city with thriving schools and universities, a great cultural scene and beautiful parks.
The rankings were based on 16 criteria, which include: the number of restaurants, bars, and museums per capita; the number of colleges, libraries, and professional sports teams; the income, poverty, unemployment, crime, and foreclosure rates; percent of population with bachelor's degrees, public school performance, park acres per 1,000 residents, and air quality. Greater weighting was placed on recreational amenities such as parks, bars, restaurants, and museums, and on educational attainment, school performance, poverty, and air quality.
Some surprising omissions from the top 50 were Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Miami.

5) Louisiana
Louisiana is the 25th most populous American State and has one of the highest crime rates.
Violent crimes such as burglary, theft, murder, rape and assaults are the most frequent crimes in the state.
However in last year there has been a slight decrease in crimes but not enough to take it off this list.
With 4.6 million inhabitants & 19.1% living below the poverty line, its very clear that the high rate of crime is associated to a large number of the population living in poverty.
Out of every 100,000 people there are 510 violent crimes, this figure can & will drop if more is done to create better opportunities for the people.
4) Tennessee
Just like Louisiana, Tennessee also has a large number of their population living in poverty.
Out of the 6.5 million inhabitants, 17.6% are living in poverty.
Once again its no surprise that the crime rate is so high, with some of common crimes being robbery, rape, aggravated assaults, homicide and gun violence.
For every 100,000 people, there are 580 violent crimes, much higher than the countries average of 368.
All this crime is again closely linked to its high numbers of poverty.
Until something is done to help the people, high crime will always be a issue.
3) Nevada
Recognized as one of the most dangerous states to live in with a scary 600 violent crimes per 100,000 people, Nevada is a state with a serious crime problem.
With only 2.9 million inhabitants its not a very densely populated state however it is home to sin city Las Vegas.
Crimes like rape, robbery & assault are to be expected but it takes the lead over other states for its murder rate.
Although not officially stated to protect its tourism, its high level of murders are most likely linked to its high levels of organised crime.
Nevada has always had problems with crime, with its reputation for its libertarian laws such as legal gambling & prostitution, it attracts a lot crime syndicates eager to cash in.
2) New Mexico
New Mexico suffers from a lot of Political Instability.
With over 10% of its population being Native Americans there's obviously a lot of tension.
However aside from that 20.4% of its 2.1 million inhabitants are living in poverty, so naturally its crime rate will increase.
Out of every 100,000 people, there are 600 violent crimes, now instead of helping the poor by building better infrastructures so they can help themselves, instead the government is increasing its security forces.
This may reduce the crime slightly but its not tackling the core issues, it will just create more tension and dislike for the government.
When people have nothing, and nothing to hope for, crime will always exist, if you give the people hope & opportunity will reduce crime much more effectively than using force.
1) Alaska
A surprising number 1, Alaska is quite unique.
It's poverty rate is much lower at only 11.7% however its crime rate is at 602 violent crimes per 100,000 people.
The issue Alaska has, is its just so large, in fact its the largest state, but is the least densely populated region with only 736,000 inhabitants.
Essentially Alaska is very hard to police, if a murder is committed, its much easier to cover up than in a busy city.
Witnesses would be rare, and with such a vast landscape, finding a body would be like finding a needle in a hay stack.
This is why Alaska has the 3rd highest murder rate, despite its small population.
Alaska will always remain a easy place to commit a crime unless its population density increases massively making it much harder for a criminal to commit a crime.
However due to its harsh climate and general lack of opportunity, its population will probably never increase.

The economy in Oakland is strong with a good median household income. ($51,683.) However, home to around 50 gangs and a high violent crime rate, Oakland also suffers from high traffic congestion and poor air quality. 190% worse than the national average.
8. New Orleans, Louisiana
The “murder capital of the country," also has one of the worst toxic-substance records. New Orleans has still not recovered from Hurricane Katrina, and was ranked number two in “America’s Dirtiest Cities.”
7. Birmingham, Alabama
27.3% of residents live below the poverty line. Out of every 100,000 residents, 1400 are victims of violent crimes due to the prominent drug trade and high poverty rate.
6. Stockton, California
In 2012, the city filed for bankruptcy. Forbes voted Stockton as one of the most dangerous cities in America due to its high crime rates with over 20,000 violent and property crimes committed last year.
5. Memphis, Tennessee
Memphis is the largest city on the Mississippi River with over 20% of its inhabitants living below the poverty line. In Memphis you stand a 1 in 12 chance of being a victim of crime.
4. New Haven, Connecticut
Home of Yale University, the surrounding areas of New Haven are impoverished and crime ridden. Nearly 68 crimes occur annually for every 1,000 residents.
3. Cleveland, Ohio
Aside from being one of the most corrupt cities in the country, Cleveland also has harsh weather conditions, with an average of 60 inches of snowfall each year.
2. Detroit, Michigan
The city is suffering from urban decay with over 32% of residents living below the national poverty line. According to FBI Reports, Detroit has the highest rate of violent crime of any city over 200,000.
1. Camden, New Jersey
Camden has been on Forbes’ list of “America’s Most Miserable Cities” for years. Riddled with urban decay and political corruption, over 42% of its residents live below the poverty line. It also has 560% more crime than the national average.

The Pine Tree State has the second lowest crime rate in the nation, and strong anti-discrimination laws.
If you love all kinds of weather then Maine is for you.
Locals say in the year you get every kind of weather known to man and that instead of 4 seasons, Maine has 10.
The environment is about as good as it gets, and Mainers are healthy people.
Acadia National Park has got everything that a lover of the outdoors could ever need.
The oldest eastern national park has hiking trails, large granite peaks, some of the tallest mountains on the US Atlantic coast.
If you love you're food to be posh, then you won't be disappointed by Maine's Lobster, often said to be the best in the world.
Although it's economy doesn't compare to states like Texas, it is still a beautifully relaxing place to live and is one of the best at caring for seniors.
4) New Hampshire
Yet another New England state ranks high because the quality of life is solid in the Granite State.
The crime rate is very low, the environment is clean, residents are healthy and it's health care is one of the best.
But like some of its neighbors, the state could use some more things to do, but then again if there are too many attractions you do sacrifice it's peaceful atmosphere.
It's economy is also strong, ranked 9th in the US in 2014, so there is money to be made.
Overall New Hampshire has a very good balance, and balance makes for a good quality of life.
3) Minnesota
Residents of the North Star State pride themselves on being nice, which helps explain why this is such a livable state year after year.
Maybe it's the rough winters, maybe it's the renowned Mayo Clinic, but Minnesotans are a hardy bunch as this is one of the healthiest states.
From the cosmopolitan Twin Cities to the rugged North Woods, the state has something for just about everyone.
Overall it ranks highly in pretty much every category such as quality of life, economy, cost of doing business, Infrastructure & education.
It is a good all rounder, and just like New Hampshire it has a very good balance.
While there are states that offer a lot more & you can live much better if you have the money, states with a better balance offer a higher quality of life for the overall population rather than just a select few.
2) Vermont
Sealing New England's dominance in this category, the Green Mountain State reveals the nation's lowest violent crime rate.
Vermonters are again in excellent health, fit and trim, with good healthcare but also it offers some of greatest farmers markets in the U.S.
Know for its excellent beer, cheese, and of course Maple products.
The environment is pristine, and the state is welcoming and inclusive.
No matter where you're from or what you're beliefs are, Vermont offers equality for everyone.
There's no surprise that Vermont has the second best quality of life in the U.S.
1) Hawaii
The Aloha State achieves a near perfect Quality of Life score, with the nation's healthiest population and the cleanest environment.
Of course it's amazing weather & the fact that if you live there you're basically in what most people would consider paradise 365 days a year.
Residents are protected by strong anti-discrimination laws, and you may never run out of things to see and do.
Hawaii is all about just living, it's not the best place to start a tech company, or to make million in any industry, but it is recognized as the best place to live if you just want to live.
Realistically you will most likely already need quite a bit of money to live in Hawaii, as it isn't cheap.
But should you be fortunate enough to afford to live there, you may never want to leave.

The United Nations uses three definitions for what constitutes a city, as not all cities may be classified using the same criteria. In fact, even the richest and most developed countries such as Germany, United Kingdom, Japan and the United States are homes to millions of people who live below the poverty line. In the case of the United States however, is particularly surprising given that it is the richest country in the world and yet possess some of the most alarming statistics when it comes to economically disadvantaged people. Recent studies have found that most Americans will spend at least one year below the poverty line at some point between ages 25 and 75. As for homelessness statistics, the numbers are just as sad. It is estimated that up to 3.5 million Americans experience homelessness for at least a few nights during the course of a year. What makes this figure even more heartbreaking is the fact that according to Amnesty International, vacant houses actually outnumber homeless people five to one. In other words, there are five empty houses per one homeless person. In the US, however, the populations in need vary greatly with individual states, regions and cities. WalletHub, a personal finance website based in Washington D.C., carried out an extensive research to find out where the highest concentrations of economically disadvantaged people are found. The analysts based the research on 16 key metrics such as the percentage of households receiving public assistance, food-insecurity rate and percentage of maltreated people. Business week has come up with an interesting list of the top 50 American cities to live in. Number 10 is Anchorage, Alaska, which ranks high because of its fantastic air quality and ridiculous 1.7 park acres per resident. 9th on the list is San Francisco--a well-rounded city that has it all. Number 8 is Virginia Beach, a beautiful beach city with miles of boardwalks. San Diego, the city with the best weather in the country, is 7th on the list. Ranked 6th is Washington DC, the nation's capital with some of the best museums in the world and the lowest foreclosure rate on the list. Irvine, California - no. 5 - has the best schools of any city on the list and a median income of $92,195. Fourth is Scottsdale, Arizona, the wealthy Phoenix suburb surprisingly beat out the california cities in the top 10. Gorgeous Honolulu, HI comes in third with low unemployment and a low foreclosure rate. Second is Arlington, Virginia with the lowest unemployment rate of cities on the list and ⅔ of its population holding college degrees. And number one is Raleigh, NC. It is perhaps the most well-rounded city with thriving schools and universities, a great cultural scene and beautiful parks. The rankings were based on 16 criteria, which include: the number of restaurants, bars, and museums per capita; the number of colleges, libraries, and professional sports teams; the income, poverty, unemployment, crime, and foreclosure rates; percent of population with bachelor's degrees, public school performance, park acres per 1,000 residents, and air quality. Greater weighting was placed on recreational amenities such as parks, bars, restaurants, and museums, and on educational attainment, school performance, poverty, and air quality. Violent crimes such as burglary, theft, murder, rape and assaults are the most frequent crimes in the state. However in last year there has been a slight decrease in crimes but not enough to take it off this list. With 4.6 million inhabitants & 19.1% living below the poverty line, its very clear that the high rate of crime is associated to a large number of the population living in poverty. Out of every 100,000 people there are 510 violent crimes, this figure can & will drop if more is done to create better opportunities for the people. 4) Tennessee Just like Louisiana, Tennessee also has a large number of their population living in poverty. Out of the 6.5 million inhabitants, 17.6% are living in poverty. Once again its no surprise that the crime rate is so high, with some of common crimes being robbery, rape, aggravated assaults, homicide and gun violence. For every 100,000 people, there are 580 violent crimes, much higher than the countries average of 368. All this crime is again closely linked to its high numbers of poverty. Until something is done to help the people, high crime will always be a issue. 3) Nevada Recognized as one of the most dangerous states to live in with a scary 600 violent crimes per 100,000 people, Nevada is a state with a serious crime problem. With only 2.9 million inhabitants its not a very densely populated state however it is home to sin city Las Vegas. Crimes like rape, robbery & assault are to be expected but it takes the lead over other states for its murder rate. Although not officially stated to protect its tourism, its high level of murders are most likely linked to its high levels of organised crime. Nevada has always had problems with crime, with its reputation for its libertarian laws such as legal gambling & prostitution, it attracts a lot crime syndicates eager to cash in. 2) New Mexico New Mexico suffers from a lot of Political Instability. With over 10% of its population being Native Americans there's obviously a lot of tension. However aside from that 20.4% of its 2.1 million inhabitants are living in poverty, so naturally its crime rate will increase. Out of every 100,000 people, there are 600 violent crimes, now instead of helping the poor by building better infrastructures so they can help themselves, instead the government is increasing its security forces. This may reduce the crime slightly but its not tackling the core issues, it will just create more tension and dislike for the government. When people have nothing, and nothing to hope for, crime will always exist, if you give the people hope & opportunity will reduce crime much more effectively than using force. 1) Alaska A surprising number 1, Alaska is quite unique. It's poverty rate is much lower at only 11.7% however its crime rate is at 602 violent crimes per 100,000 people. The issue Alaska has, is its just so large, in fact its the largest state, but is the least densely populated region with only 736,000 inhabitants. Essentially Alaska is very hard to police, if a murder is committed, its much easier to cover up than in a busy city. Witnesses would be rare, and with such a vast landscape, finding a body would be like finding a needle in a hay stack. This is why Alaska has the 3rd highest murder rate, despite its small population. Alaska will always remain a easy place to commit a crime unless its population density increases massively making it much harder for a criminal to commit a crime. However due to its harsh climate and general lack of opportunity, its population will probably never increase. If you love all kinds of weather then Maine is for you. Locals say in the year you get every kind of weather known to man and that instead of 4 seasons, Maine has 10. Although it's economy doesn't compare to states like Texas, it is still a beautifully relaxing place to live and is one of the best at caring for seniors. 4) New Hampshire Yet another New England state ranks high because the quality of life is solid in the Granite State. The crime rate is very low, the environment is clean, residents are healthy and it's health care is one of the best. But like some of its neighbors, the state could use some more things to do, but then again if there are too many attractions you do sacrifice it's peaceful atmosphere. It's economy is also strong, ranked 9th in the US in 2014, so there is money to be made. Overall New Hampshire has a very good balance, and balance makes for a good quality of life. 3) Minnesota Residents of the North Star State pride themselves on being nice, which helps explain why this is such a livable state year after year. Maybe it's the rough winters, maybe it's the renowned Mayo Clinic, but Minnesotans are a hardy bunch as this is one of the healthiest states. From the cosmopolitan Twin Cities to the rugged North Woods, the state has something for just about everyone. Overall it ranks highly in pretty much every category such as quality of life, economy, cost of doing business, Infrastructure & education. It is a good all rounder, and just like New Hampshire it has a very good balance. While there are states that offer a lot more & you can live much better if you have the money, states with a better balance offer a higher quality of life for the overall population rather than just a select few. 2) Vermont Sealing New England's dominance in this category, the Green Mountain State reveals the nation's lowest violent crime rate. Vermonters are again in excellent health, fit and trim, with good healthcare but also it offers some of greatest farmers markets in the U.S. Know for its excellent beer, cheese, and of course Maple products. The environment is pristine, and the state is welcoming and inclusive. No matter where you're from or what you're beliefs are, Vermont offers equality for everyone. There's no surprise that Vermont has the second best quality of life in the U.S. 1) Hawaii The Aloha State achieves a near perfect Quality of Life score, with the nation's healthiest population and the cleanest environment. Of course it's amazing weather & the fact that if you live there you're basically in what most people would consider paradise 365 days a year. Residents are protected by strong anti-discrimination laws, and you may never run out of things to see and do. Hawaii is all about just living, it's not the best place to start a tech company, or to make million in any industry, but it is recognized as the best place to live if you just want to live. Realistically you will most likely already need quite a bit of money to live in Hawaii, as it isn't cheap. But should you be fortunate enough to afford to live there, you may never want to leave. In fact, even the richest and most developed countries such as Germany, United Kingdom, Japan and the United States are homes to millions of people who live below the poverty line. In the case of the United States however, is particularly surprising given that it is the richest country in the world and yet possess some of the most alarming statistics when it comes to economically disadvantaged people. Recent studies have found that most Americans will spend at least one year below the poverty line at some point between ages 25 and 75. As for homelessness statistics, the numbers are just as sad. It is estimated that up to 3.5 million Americans experience homelessness for at least a few nights during the course of a year. What makes this figure even more heartbreaking is the fact that according to Amnesty International, vacant houses actually outnumber homeless people five to one. In other words, there are five empty houses per one homeless person. In the US, however, the populations in need vary greatly with individual states, regions and cities. WalletHub, a personal finance website based in Washington D.C., carried out an extensive research to find out where the highest concentrations of economically disadvantaged people are found. The analysts based the research on 16 key metrics such as the percentage of households receiving public assistance, food-insecurity rate and percentage of maltreated people. 9th on the list is San Francisco--a well-rounded city that has it all.
Number 8 is Virginia Beach, a beautiful beach city with miles of boardwalks.
San Diego, the city with the best weather in the country, is 7th on the list.
Ranked 6th is Washington DC, the nation's capital with some of the best museums in the world and the lowest foreclosure rate on the list.
Irvine, California - no. 5 - has the best schools of any city on the list and a median income of $92,195.
Fourth is Scottsdale, Arizona, the wealthy Phoenix suburb surprisingly beat out the california cities in the top 10.
Gorgeous Honolulu, HI comes in third with low unemployment and a low foreclosure rate.
Second is Arlington, Virginia with the lowest unemployment rate of cities on the list and ⅔ of its population holding college degrees.
And number one is Raleigh, NC. It is perhaps the most well-rounded city with thriving schools and universities, a great cultural scene and beautiful parks.
The rankings were based on 16 criteria, which include: the number of restaurants, bars, and museums per capita; the number of colleges, libraries, and professional sports teams; the income, poverty, unemployment, crime, and foreclosure rates; percent of population with bachelor's degrees, public school performance, park acres per 1,000 residents, and air quality. Greater weighting was placed on recreational amenities such as parks, bars, restaurants, and museums, and on educational attainment, school performance, poverty, and air quality.
Some surprising omissions from the top 50 were Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Miami.

5) Louisiana
Louisiana is the 25th most populous American State and has one of the highest crime rates.
Violent crimes such as burglary, theft, murder, rape and assaults are the most frequent crimes in the state.
However in last year there has been a slight decrease in crimes but not enough to take it off this list.
With 4.6 million inhabitants & 19.1% living below the poverty line, its very clear that the high rate of crime is associated to a large number of the population living in poverty.
Out of every 100,000 people there are 510 violent crimes, this figure can & will drop if more is done to create better opportunities for the people.
4) Tennessee
Just like Louisiana, Tennessee also has a large number of their population living in poverty.
Out of the 6.5 million inhabitants, 17.6% are living in poverty.
Once again its no surprise that the crime rate is so high, with some of common crimes being robbery, rape, aggravated assaults, homicide and gun violence.
For every 100,000 people, there are 580 violent crimes, much higher than the countries average of 368.
All this crime is again closely linked to its high numbers of poverty.
Until something is done to help the people, high crime will always be a issue.
3) Nevada
Recognized as one of the most dangerous states to live in with a scary 600 violent crimes per 100,000 people, Nevada is a state with a serious crime problem.
With only 2.9 million inhabitants its not a very densely populated state however it is home to sin city Las Vegas.
Crimes like rape, robbery & assault are to be expected but it takes the lead over other states for its murder rate.
Although not officially stated to protect its tourism, its high level of murders are most likely linked to its high levels of organised crime.
Nevada has always had problems with crime, with its reputation for its libertarian laws such as legal gambling & prostitution, it attracts a lot crime syndicates eager to cash in.
2) New Mexico
New Mexico suffers from a lot of Political Instability.
With over 10% of its population being Native Americans there's obviously a lot of tension.
However aside from that 20.4% of its 2.1 million inhabitants are living in poverty, so naturally its crime rate will increase.
Out of every 100,000 people, there are 600 violent crimes, now instead of helping the poor by building better infrastructures so they can help themselves, instead the government is increasing its security forces.
This may reduce the crime slightly but its not tackling the core issues, it will just create more tension and dislike for the government.
When people have nothing, and nothing to hope for, crime will always exist, if you give the people hope & opportunity will reduce crime much more effectively than using force.
1) Alaska
A surprising number 1, Alaska is quite unique.
It's poverty rate is much lower at only 11.7% however its crime rate is at 602 violent crimes per 100,000 people.
The issue Alaska has, is its just so large, in fact its the largest state, but is the least densely populated region with only 736,000 inhabitants.
Essentially Alaska is very hard to police, if a murder is committed, its much easier to cover up than in a busy city.

5) Louisiana
Louisiana is the 25th most populous American State and has one of the highest crime rates.
Violent crimes such as burglary, theft, murder, rape and assaults are the most frequent crimes in the state.
However in last year there has been a slight decrease in crimes but not enough to take it off this list.
With 4.6 million inhabitants & 19.1% living below the poverty line, its very clear that the high rate of crime is associated to a large number of the population living in poverty.
Out of every 100,000 people there are 510 violent crimes, this figure can & will drop if more is done to create better opportunities for the people.
4) Tennessee
Just like Louisiana, Tennessee also has a large number of their population living in poverty.
Out of the 6.5 million inhabitants, 17.6% are living in poverty.
Once again its no surprise that the crime rate is so high, with some of common crimes being robbery, rape, aggravated assaults, homicide and gun violence.
For every 100,000 people, there are 580 violent crimes, much higher than the countries average of 368.
All this crime is again closely linked to its high numbers of poverty.
Until something is done to help the people, high crime will always be a issue.
3) Nevada
Recognized as one of the most dangerous states to live in with a scary 600 violent crimes per 100,000 people, Nevada is a state with a serious crime problem.
With only 2.9 million inhabitants its not a very densely populated state however it is home to sin city Las Vegas.
Crimes like rape, robbery & assault are to be expected but it takes the lead over other states for its murder rate.
Although not officially stated to protect its tourism, its high level of murders are most likely linked to its high levels of organised crime.
Nevada has always had problems with crime, with its reputation for its libertarian laws such as legal gambling & prostitution, it attracts a lot crime syndicates eager to cash in.
2) New Mexico
New Mexico suffers from a lot of Political Instability.
With over 10% of its population being Native Americans there's obviously a lot of tension.
However aside from that 20.4% of its 2.1 million inhabitants are living in poverty, so naturally its crime rate will increase.
Out of every 100,000 people, there are 600 violent crimes, now instead of helping the poor by building better infrastructures so they can help themselves, instead the government is increasing its security forces.
This may reduce the crime slightly but its not tackling the core issues, it will just create more tension and dislike for the government.
When people have nothing, and nothing to hope for, crime will always exist, if you give the people hope & opportunity will reduce crime much more effectively than using force.
1) Alaska
A surprising number 1, Alaska is quite unique.
It's poverty rate is much lower at only 11.7% however its crime rate is at 602 violent crimes per 100,000 people.
The issue Alaska has, is its just so large, in fact its the largest state, but is the least densely populated region with only 736,000 inhabitants.
Essentially Alaska is very hard to police, if a murder is committed, its much easier to cover up than in a busy city.

5. Memphis, Tennessee

Overall New Hampshire has a very good balance, and balance makes for a good quality of life.
3) Minnesota
Residents of the North Star State pride themselves on being nice, which helps explain why this is such a livable state year after year.
Maybe it's the rough winters, maybe it's the renowned Mayo Clinic, but Minnesotans are a hardy bunch as this is one of the healthiest states.
From the cosmopolitan Twin Cities to the rugged North Woods, the state has something for just about everyone.
Overall it ranks highly in pretty much every category such as quality of life, economy, cost of doing business, Infrastructure & education.
It is a good all rounder, and just like New Hampshire it has a very good balance.
While there are states that offer a lot more & you can live much better if you have the money, states with a better balance offer a higher quality of life for the overall population rather than just a select few.
2) Vermont
