The Iranian Embassy Siege of 1980 was a siege of the Iranian embassy in London after it had been taken over by Iranian Arab separatists. The siege was ended when the Special Air Service (SAS), a British special forces unit, stormed the building in Operation Nimrod. The incident brought the SAS to the world's attention as the whole episode was played out in front of the media.
At 11:30 on 30 April 1980 a six-man team calling itself the Democratic Revolutionary Movement for the Liberation of Arabistan (DRMLA) captured the embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Prince's Gate,South Kensington in central London.
When the group first stormed the building, 26 hostages were taken (including PC Trevor Lock, the police constable on official protection duty at the main entrance, and two visiting BBC personnel -- journalist Chris Cramer and sound recordist Sim Harris -- who had stopped by to pick up visas), but five were released over the following few days. Police negotiators attempted to mollify the gunmen with supplies of food and cigarettes, and on the third day a statement by the group was broadcast on BBC Radio 2 following threats to kill a hostage (which was missed by the group as they were tuning in to Radio 4 instead).[5] The unit's Iraqi handler[clarification needed] had promised the group that theJordanian ambassador would intervene to provide safe passage[citation needed], but when it became clear this was not going to happen, the situation in the embassy deteriorated.
On the sixth day of the siege, the kidnappers killed a hostage, press attaché Abbas Lavasani, who joined up optionally, and threw his body outside. Covered by armed police, two men carrying a stretcher collected his body and took it to an ambulance, while keeping low to avoid gunfire. This marked an escalation of the situation and prompted Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher's decision to proceed with the rescue operation. The order to deploy a unit of the Counter Revolutionary Warfare (CRW) wing of the SAS had been given in the first few hours of the siege. At the time B Squadron was on CRW duty. When the first hostage was shot, the Metropolitan Police Commissioner, David McNee passed a note signed by Margaret Thatcher to the Ministry of Defence, stating this was now a "military operation".
News teams were camped outside the embassy. A unit from the British news organisation ITN, using recently-introduced Electronic News Gathering (ENG) camera equipment, managed to establish a viewpoint at the rear of the embassy. It was images from this vantage point that showed the SAS raid on the building live on television after their correspondent had been 'tipped off'. However the SAS insisted on a short time-delay between the live events and their broadcast in case the militants were watching the broadcasts.

There are many impressive men and huge men in the world. We in India are not immune to the body-builders and our desi body-builders or the pehelwans. With their large and hulking bodies, they part the crowds with ease and generally easily put all other to shame. At times, they even make us conscious of our comparatively slight frame. Their muscles and their build is definitely amazing and leaves us with out mouths hanging open and completely stunned. But then, even you wouldn’t have dreamed of this complete hulk lookalike who can actually put even the best of our desi pehelwans to shame! Meet Sajad Gharibi from Iran!
Sajad is a power-lifter, which is a sport that consists of lifting heavy weights in 3 positions. The sport is a much loved one and practised among all body builders in the world. But Sajad Gharibi has really developed his body to an extreme level for his sport. Looking at Sajad, can you even remotely guess his age?! He’s just 24 years old! And at that young age, he has the body most body builders can only dream of. His weight is a whopping 175 kg and most of his muscle mass is in his shoulders, arms and his upper torso. He clealry works out everyday and the boy (well, he’s 24!!!) he’s so huge that he’s also knows as the Persian Hercules! Oh, and apart from his Hulkness – he’s also famous for having no neck!
And if you were intimidated by his size and thought that just like Hulk, he might go into destruction mode anytime, you thought wrong! This giant is just as sweet and human as any of us. While he lives to lift weights, he also leads a very normal life where he clicks photos and reminds us just how tiny we are in front of him. As for other objects, we he can literally crush soft drink cans in his massive arms! And try fist-bumping him (remind him to be as gentle as possible first!) and you’ll realise just why Hulk is Hulk! But then, benerath all that brawn is a sweet and soft heart that can harm no one and is as gentle as a baby! Awww! That’s true Hulk with a heart!

Brock Lesnar
Brock Edward Lesnar (/ˈlɛznər/; born July 12, 1977) is an American professional wrestler and former amateur wrestler, professional American football player, and mixed martial artist. He is currently signed to WWE. Lesnar is a four-time WWE (World Heavyweight) Champion, a former UFC Heavyweight Champion, and an NCAA Division I Heavyweight Wrestling Champion, making him the only person to have won a WWE championship, UFC championship, and NCAA championship in a career. He is also a one-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion, making him a five-time world champion in professional wrestling.
After his successful amateur wrestling career at Bismarck State College and the University of Minnesota (106 victories and 5 losses), Lesnar signed with WWE (then the World Wrestling Federation) in 2000. He was assigned to its developmental promotion Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW), where he was a three-time OVW Southern Tag Team Champion with Shelton Benjamin. After debuting on WWE's main roster in 2002, he won the WWE Championship on three separate occasions with victories over The Rock and Kurt Angle (twice). Lesnar won his first (Undisputed) WWE Championship five months after his main roster debut at the age of 25, becoming the youngest WWE Champion in history. He was also the 2002 King of the Ring and the 2003 Royal Rumble winner, making him the youngest King of the Ring and Royal Rumble winner as well. Following his match with Goldberg at WrestleMania XX, Lesnar left the WWE and pursued a career in the National Football League (NFL). He was named a defensive tackle for the Minnesota Vikings but was cut prior to the start of the 2004–05 season. In 2005, Lesnar returned to professional wrestling and signed with New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), where he won the IWGP Heavyweight Championship in his first match. After a contractual dispute with NJPW, he also wrestled as IWGP Heavyweight Champion in the Inoki Genome Federation (IGF).

The Iranian Embassy Siege of 1980 was a siege of the Iranian embassy in London after it had been taken over by Iranian Arab separatists. The siege was ended when the Special Air Service (SAS), a British special forces unit, stormed the building in Operation Nimrod. The incident brought the SAS to the world's attention as the whole episode was played out in front of the media. At 11:30 on 30 April 1980 a six-man team calling itself the Democratic Revolutionary Movement for the Liberation of Arabistan (DRMLA) captured the embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Prince's Gate,South Kensington in central London. Khomeini and his forces would soon overthrow the secular government, establishing the current Islamic Republic and beginning a period of tension with America that endures to this day.

The Iranian Embassy Siege of 1980 was a siege of the Iranian embassy in London after it had been taken over by Iranian Arab separatists. The siege was ended when the Special Air Service (SAS), a British special forces unit, stormed the building in Operation Nimrod. The incident brought the SAS to the world's attention as the whole episode was played out in front of the media.
At 11:30 on 30 April 1980 a six-man team calling itself the Democratic Revolutionary Movement for the Liberation of Arabistan (DRMLA) captured the embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Prince's Gate,South Kensington in central London.
When the group first stormed the building, 26 hostages were taken (including PC Trevor Lock, the police constable on official protection duty at the main entrance, and two visiting BBC personnel -- journalist Chris Cramer and sound recordist Sim Harris -- who had stopped by to pick up visas), but five were released over the following few days. Police negotiators attempted to mollify the gunmen with supplies of food and cigarettes, and on the third day a statement by the group was broadcast on BBC Radio 2 following threats to kill a hostage (which was missed by the group as they were tuning in to Radio 4 instead).[5] The unit's Iraqi handler[clarification needed] had promised the group that theJordanian ambassador would intervene to provide safe passage[citation needed], but when it became clear this was not going to happen, the situation in the embassy deteriorated.
On the sixth day of the siege, the kidnappers killed a hostage, press attaché Abbas Lavasani, who joined up optionally, and threw his body outside. Covered by armed police, two men carrying a stretcher collected his body and took it to an ambulance, while keeping low to avoid gunfire. This marked an escalation of the situation and prompted Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher's decision to proceed with the rescue operation. The order to deploy a unit of the Counter Revolutionary Warfare (CRW) wing of the SAS had been given in the first few hours of the siege. At the time B Squadron was on CRW duty. When the first hostage was shot, the Metropolitan Police Commissioner, David McNee passed a note signed by Margaret Thatcher to the Ministry of Defence, stating this was now a "military operation".
News teams were camped outside the embassy. A unit from the British news organisation ITN, using recently-introduced Electronic News Gathering (ENG) camera equipment, managed to establish a viewpoint at the rear of the embassy. It was images from this vantage point that showed the SAS raid on the building live on television after their correspondent had been 'tipped off'. However the SAS insisted on a short time-delay between the live events and their broadcast in case the militants were watching the broadcasts.

But then, even you wouldn’t have dreamed of this complete hulk lookalike who can actually put even the best of our desi pehelwans to shame! Meet Sajad Gharibi from Iran!

This prevented Iranian filmmakers from making use of the desiring gaze, a staple cinematic system of looking. In Displaced Allegories Negar Mottahedeh shows that post-revolutionary Iranian filmmakers were forced to create a new visual language for conveying meaning to audiences. She argues that the Iranian film industry found creative ground not in the negation of government regulations but in the cameras adoption of the modest, averted gaze. In the process, the filmic techniques and cinematic technologies were gendered as feminine and the national cinema was produced as a womans cinema.mottahedeh asserts that, in response to the prohibitions against the desiring look, a new narrative cinema emerged as the displaced allegory of the constraints on the post-revolutionary Iranian film industry. Addressing a ceremony to mark the martyrdom anniversary of Iran's Former Defense Minister Mostafa Chamran (1981), Vahidi said that Iran has named its new anti-armor weapon as 'Dehlavieh', the name of the place where Dr. Chamran was martyred.
"God-willing, the mass-production line of the new (anti-armor) system will be inaugurated in the new future," Vahidi said, declining to provide details of the new system.
Last August, the Iranian Defense Ministry started mass-production of 73-mm anti-armor rockets capable of piercing and destroying armored vehicles from a 1,300-meter distance.
"The weapon is mobile and due to its low weight, it can be carried by an individual trooper," Vahidi told reporters on the sidelines of a ceremony held to launch the production line of the rocket at the time.
Tehran launched an arms development program during the 1980-88 Iraqi imposed war on Iran to compensate for a US weapons embargo. Since 1992, Iran has produced its own tanks, armored personnel carriers, missiles and fighter planes.
Yet, Iranian officials have always stressed that the country's military and arms programs serve defensive purposes and should not be perceived as a threat to any other country.

Under the Sassanid Dynasty, Iran again became one of the leading powers in the world for the next four centuries.[21][22]
Beginning in 633 AD, Rashidun Arabs conquered Iran and largely displaced the indigenous faiths of Manichaeism and Zoroastrianism by Sunni Islam. Iran became a major contributor to the Islamic Golden Age that followed, producing many influential scientists, scholars, artists, and thinkers. The rise of the Safavid Dynasty in 1501 led to the establishment of Twelver Shia Islam as the official religion of Iran, marking one of the most important turning points in Iranian and Muslim history.[6][23] During the 18th century, Iran reached its greatest territorial extent since the Sassanid Empire, and under Nader Shah briefly possessed what was arguably the most powerful empire at the time.[24] Through the late 18th and 19th centuries, a series of conflicts with Russia led to significant territorial losses and the erosion of sovereignty.[25][26] Popular unrest culminated in the Persian Constitutional Revolution of 1906, which established a constitutional monarchy and the country's first legislative body, the Majles. Following a coup d'état instigated by the U.K. and the U.S. in 1953, Iran gradually became closely aligned with the United States and the rest of the West but grew increasingly autocratic.[27] Growing dissent against foreign influence and political repression led to the 1979 Revolution and the establishment of an Islamic republic.[16]
Iran is a major regional and middle power,[28][29] and its large reserves of fossil fuels — which include the largest natural gas supply in the world and the fourth-largest proven oil reserves[30][31] — exert considerable influence in international energy security and the world economy. Iran's rich cultural legacy is reflected in part by its 21 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the third-largest number in Asia and 11th-largest in the world.[32]
Iran is a founding member of the UN, ECO, NAM, OIC, and OPEC. Its political system is based on the 1979 Constitution which combines elements of a parliamentary democracy with a theocracy governed by Islamic jurists under the concept of a Supreme Leadership. A multicultural country comprising numerous ethnic and linguistic groups, most inhabitants are Shia Muslims and Persian is the official language
