Maria Tecla Artemisia Montessori (Italian pronunciation: [maˈriːa montesˈsɔːri]; August 31, 1870 – May 6, 1952) was an Italian physician and educator best known for the philosophy of education that bears her name, and her writing on scientific pedagogy. Her educational method is in use today in some public and private schools throughout the world.
Montessori was born on August 31, 1870 in Chiaravalle, Italy. Her father, Alessandro Montessori, 33 years old at the time, was an official of the Ministry of Finance working in the local state-run tobacco factory. Her mother, Renilde Stoppani, 25 years old, was well educated for the times and was the great-niece of Italian geologist and paleontologist Antonio Stoppani. While she did not have any particular mentor, she was very close to her mother who readily encouraged her. She also had a loving relationship with her father, although he disagreed with her choice to continue her education.
Montessori education is an educational approach developed by Italian physician and educator Maria Montessori based on her extensive research with "phrenasthenic" or "special needs" children and characterized by an emphasis on independence, freedom within limits, and respect for a child’s natural psychological, physical, and social development. Although a range of practices exists under the name "Montessori", the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) and the American Montessori Society (AMS) cite these elements as essential:
An audiobook (or talking book) is a recording of a text being read. A reading of the complete text is noted as "unabridged", while readings of a reduced version, or abridgement of the text are labeled as "abridged".
Spoken audio has been available in schools and public libraries and to a lesser extent in music shops since the 1930s. Many spoken word albums were made prior to the age of videocassettes, DVDs, compact discs, and downloadable audio, however often of poetry and plays rather than books. It was not until the 1980s that the medium began to attract book retailers, and then book retailers started displaying audiobooks on bookshelves rather than in separate displays.
The term "talking book" came into being in the 1930s with government programs designed for blind readers, while the term "audiobook" came into use during the 1970s when audiocassettes began to replace records. In 1994, the Audio Publishers Association established the term "audiobook" as the industry standard.

Born more than 25 years before Piaget or Vygotsky, Maria Montessori understood the constructivistic nature of all learning. As she observed children building their understanding of the world, she developed materials and approaches to education that are now used, in part, in most early childhood classrooms across the world. She realized the tremendous power of intrinsic motivation and sought to capitalize upon it, especially for children between the ages of three and six. Montessori's conception of the changing roles the classroom environment and teacher should play for students of various ages is presented with carefully shot film of toddler, preschool, elementary school and secondary classes at work in accredited Montessori schools. Students will also learn of Dr. Montessori's own drama...
Montessori Education is based on the principles developed by Maria Montessori, who opened her first school for children of low-income workers in an apartment building in Rome in 1907. The school was called “Casa dei Bambini”, Home for Children. This first “Casa” was furnished with a teachers table, a stove, a blackboard, some chairs, group tables for the children and a cabinet filled with materials that Montessori developed in her earlier career when she researched how to teach kids who experience some form of mental disability. Maria Montessori created the materials after she realised that students seem to understand complex concepts better when they engaged all their senses. Activities at this first school included personal care (such as dressing and undressing), care of the environme...
Maria Montessori Children's School Foundation, Inc. (MMCSFI) began in 1971 as the Maria Montessori Cooperative school (MMCS). It was founded by a group of parents and teachers who sought to establish a school which would remain faithful to the basic tenets of Montessori education. From a borrowed classroom in Forbes Park, the cooperative moved to Vito Cruz St. in June 1971, where it stayed for the next four years. Go to www.montessori.ph.

The Montessori Method is an inclusive educational method that was formed by Dr. Maria Montessori in which it delves into the perception of children's preferred learning modalities as they develop. The classroom environment consists of attractive manipulatives, educational toys that involves children in academic learning. "The Montessori classroom is a "prepared environment" planned in advance to support independent, student initiated work." In the classroom, children are free to select manipulative's of their preference and through curiosity and innate interest engage in learning activities of their own individual choice. Mario Montessori is Maria Montessori's son. I don't remember where I found this video. If I shouldn't post this video, please let me know and I'll take it down. I was going to delete it off of my computer, thinking that it should be available somewhere on the internet. However, a cursory search didn't find it so I decided make it available to everyone.
