Last Night is a 1998 Canadian black comedy-drama film directed by Don McKellar. It was filmed in Toronto.
Set in Toronto at an unknown date, Last Night tells the story of how a variety of intersecting characters spend their final evening on Earth. It seems the world is to end at midnight as the result of a calamity that is not explained, but which has been expected for several months. There are several scenes of an ominously glowing sun, which gets progressively larger and brighter even into the night.
Some people in the film choose to spend their last evening alone, others with loved ones, others in prayer, others in public mayhem, and still others at raucous festivities. Duncan (David Cronenberg), the owner of a power company, spends the majority of his final day calling up every single one of his customers to reassure them that their heating gas will be kept on until the very end. Meanwhile, his wife Sandra (Sandra Oh) prepares to fulfill their suicide pact when she becomes stranded with a depressed widower Patrick (Don McKellar) preparing to die while listening to music and drinking wine on his roof, surrounded by mementoes of his recently deceased wife. The widower's best friend Craig (Callum Keith Rennie) participates in a nearly non-stop sex marathon as he attempts to fulfill every fantasy he has ever had, at one point awkwardly asking Patrick to join him. Sarah Polley appears as Patrick's sister Jennifer; their family chooses to have a final meal together although he leaves prematurely to seek his own finale. Jackie Burroughs makes an appearance as an apparently mentally disturbed woman who jogs around announcing how much time is left before the end. Arsinée Khanjian also appears as a mother on an abandoned streetcar who is paralyzed by despair.
"Last Night" is the sixteenth single by House DJ Ian Carey. The track features lyrics by urban superstar Snoop Dogg and Bobby Anthony.
Last Night is an album by His Name Is Alive, released by 4AD in 2002.
Last Night was recorded during a particularly low point in His Name Is Alive's long career. Due to the changes in the band and at their label, 4AD, in the last few years, the album was recorded knowing that it would be their last for 4AD. (See the articles for Ft. Lake and Someday My Blues Will Cover the Earth for more details on these changes.) Recorded quickly (a rarity for the band) over a couple of months in the summer of 2001, its release was delayed by the label until November 2002. This was partly because the label had also delayed the release of Someday... for a year. In fact, Last Night was completed before Someday... was even released.
Due to these circumstances, and that many long-time fans were simply losing interest in the direction both HNIA and 4AD were taking, Last Night was somewhat ignored by the buying public. The album received uniformly favorable reviews, and was more similar in sound to previous releases than Someday... was, but it still failed to generate much interest or sales. Band leader Warren Defever stated in an interview around the time of the album's release that it could possibly be the final HNIA album, although that did not turn out to be the case.
A last is a mechanical form that has a shape similar to that of a human foot. It is used by shoemakers and cordwainers in the manufacture and repair of shoes. Lasts typically come in pairs and have been made from various materials, including hardwoods, cast iron, and high-density plastics.
Lasts come in many styles and sizes, depending on the exact job they are designed for. Common variations include simple one-size lasts used for repairing soles and heels, durable lasts used in modern mass production, and custom-made lasts used in the making of bespoke footwear. Though a last is made approximately in the shape of a human foot, the precise shape is tailored to the kind of footwear being made. For example, a boot last would be designed to hug the instep for a close fit. Modern last shapes are typically designed using dedicated computer-aided design software.
Historically, lasts were typically made from hardwoods and cast iron because these materials retain their shape, even when in contact with wet materials (like leather) and subjected to the mechanical stresses of stretching and shaping shoes on them. Today, wooden lasts are generally used only for bespoke shoemaking, particularly in Europe and North America.
LAST is the 5th full album released by Japanese band Uverworld as well as the follow-up to their fourth album, Awakeve. It was released on April 14, 2010. A limited pressing of the album was also released on the same day which includes a DVD containing music videos of 99/100 Damashi no Tetsu (99/100騙しの哲?), Go-On and Kanashimi wa Kitto (哀しみはきっと?) as well as a video of the filming process for their 3 music videos and a bonus clip "Special Track 09.12.25: Turn Around with Gold" which is a Gold special video.
The album was one of the highly anticipated album and was ranked #2 at the Ninki Chart and was charted at #2 for Oricon Weekly Ranking.
The title means the present time's highest, newest and the ultimate album.

My girl, my girl, don't lie to me
Tell me: where did you sleep last night?
In the pines, in the pines
Where the sun don't ever shine
I would shiver the whole night through
My girl, my girl, where will you go?
I'm going where the cold wind blows
Her husband was a hard working man
Just about a mile from here
His head was found in a driving wheel
But his body was never found
My girl, my girl, don't lie to me
Tell me: where did you sleep last night?
My girl, my girl, where will you go?
I'm going where the cold wind blows
In the pines, in the pines
Where the sun don't ever shine
I would shiver the whole night through
My girl, my girl, don't lie to me
Tell me: where did you sleep last night?
My girl
My girl, don't lie to me
Don't lie, don't lie, don't lie to me
