Palmerston North (/ˌpɑːmərstənˈnɔːrθ/ PAH-mər-stən-NORTH) (Māori: Te Papaioea or transliterated Māori: Pamutana), commonly referred to by locals as Palmerston, or colloquially Palmy, is the main city of the Manawatu-Wanganui region of the North Island of New Zealand.
The city is inland, located in the eastern Manawatu Plains, near the north bank of the Manawatu River. The city is 35 km (22 mi) from the river's mouth and 12 km (7 mi) from the end of the Manawatu Gorge. It is about 140 km (87 mi) north of the capital, Wellington.
The city covers an area of 325.94 square kilometres (126 sq mi). The official limits of the city take in rural areas to the south, north-east, north-west and west of the main urban area, extending to the Tararua Ranges; including the town of Ashhurst at the mouth of the Manawatu Gorge, the villages of Bunnythorpe and Longburn in the north and west respectively. Included in the city limits are fertile agricultural areas.
Palmerston North is the country's seventh largest city and eighth largest urban area, with an urban population of 83,500 (June 2015 estimate).
Palmerston North City and Manawatu is a great place to work, live, study, meet, invest and visit.

The entire school performing the Haka during the arrival of Mr. Tamatea in the hearse. This was a very emotional and powerful performance. We are extremely proud of our boys' performance and we know that Mr Tamatea would be too. For those watching in other parts of the world, this is our school Haka. This is the translation: Be prepared take hold Reach out We of Palmerston North Boys' High School stand steadfast Within our Domain Standing firm Standing proud Standing with respect To uphold To uplift To uplift To uphold The prestige of our school Our aims are to seek knowledge And reach our goals and aspirations Seek the horizon of aspirations And draw near to it Those aspirations that are near, take them And it be known, yes, let it be known Let your adrenalin abound high above It is...

Wanganui - The River City 75km northwest of Palmerston North, the district of Wanganui (or 'Whanganui' -- either is acceptable) is rich in both Maori history and the conveniences of modern, urban life. The river of the same name (on which the main city stands), is a kayaker's delight, at 260km long, while the area's stunning scenery and ease of access make it a popular destination for holidaymakers. A two minute tour around the Square in Palmerston North New Zealand. This actually goes for just over 3 minutes but who’s counting. Lots of greenery, blue sky, roses, and even some water fountains. This is the first of my very short and to the point videos. Unfortunately, the definition is a little low, but still clear due to a new feature in Apple iMovie. Maybe it is time for an upgrade to FinalCut Pro. Enjoy!
A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Palmerston North, New Zealand by TravelPod blogger Coloexplorers titled "Wellington Places of Interest" Coloexplorers's travel blog entry: "Our campground was right on the bus line, so it was "easy peasy" (as a local lady told me) to go into Wellington without driving our campervan. We weren't sure of how to find things, so we asked the bus driver who was very helpful. In fact, he pointed out many things to us as he drove us to our first site. It was a very rainy day so it was a good day to visit the Museum of New Zealand, Te Papa. It is in an impressive building by the waterfront. It has many interesting exhibits, including an extensive Maori collection. We spent several hours there. Then we walked along the waterfront and through ...
