The Amazon rainforest (Portuguese: Floresta Amazônica or Amazônia; Spanish: Selva Amazónica, Amazonía or usually Amazonia; French: Forêt amazonienne; Dutch: Amazoneregenwoud), also known in English as Amazonia or the Amazon Jungle, is a moist broadleaf forest that covers most of the Amazon basin of South America. This basin encompasses 7,000,000 square kilometres (2,700,000 sq mi), of which 5,500,000 square kilometres (2,100,000 sq mi) are covered by the rainforest. This region includes territory belonging to nine nations. The majority of the forest is contained within Brazil, with 60% of the rainforest, followed by Peru with 13%, Colombia with 10%, and with minor amounts in Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana. States or departments in four nations contain "Amazonas" in their names. The Amazon represents over half of the planet's remaining rainforests, and comprises the largest and most biodiverse tract of tropical rainforest in the world, with an estimated 390 billion individual trees divided into 16,000 species
Uncontacted people, also referred to as isolated people or lost tribes, are communities who live, or have lived, either by choice (peoples living in voluntary isolation) or by circumstance, without significant contact with global civilization. Few peoples have remained totally uncontacted by global civilization. Indigenous rights activists call for such groups to be left alone, stating that it will interfere with their right to self-determination.[1] Most uncontacted communities are located in densely forested areas in South America, New Guinea, India, and Central Africa. Knowledge of the existence of these groups comes mostly from infrequent and sometimes violent encounters with neighboring tribes, and from aerial footage. Isolated tribes may lack immunity to common diseases, which can kill a large percentage of their people after contact.
Uncontacted tribes are a source of fascination in "contacted" society, and the idea of tour operators offering extreme adventure tours to specifically search out uncontacted people has become controversial.
It is believed that the last group of uncontacted native peoples in North America were the Lacandón people, discovered in the early part of the 20th century. Both Ishi's Yahi family, and the Lacandón Maya, were aware of European colonization and the civilization that had developed from it, but purposefully avoided any direct contact, preferring to interact only with other native peoples.
The Uncontacted Indians of Peru
There are an estimated 15 uncontacted tribes living in the Peruvian Amazon, all face catastrophe unless their land is protected
Survival has been calling on the Peruvian government to protect land inhabited by uncontacted tribes since the 1970s.
Today, five reserves have been created for uncontacted tribes, and Peru has ratified laws that uphold the tribes’ right to be left alone.
But now the threats are greater than ever. Illegal loggers and miners are invading the forest, and oil and gas concessions cut across more than 70% of Peru’s Amazon region.
We’re campaigning to ensure the government upholds uncontacted tribes’ right to their land and prevents outsiders from invading it.

Brazilian wandering spiders, also called armed spiders or banana spiders, belong to the genus Phoneutria, which means "murderess" in Greek. And it's no wonder why - it's one of the most venomous and dangerous spiders on Earth.
They are known as the wandering spider because they do not build webs, but instead walk the jungle floor at night looking for prey. The spiders are nocturnal, and so find places to hide during the day. This is why they are so dangerous, because they hide in houses and cars, where they are easily disturbed by humans.
What's scarrier than the largest snake in the world? That's exactly what the anaconda is when both weight and length are considered. It can reach a length of 30 feet and weigh up to 550 pounds. Weirdly females are significantly larger than males.
Anacondas eat amphibious animals, like frogs & toads, as well as fish, caiman, birds, ducks and turtles. Anacondas are members of the boa constrictor family of snakes. That means that they kill their prey by coiling their large, powerful bodies around their victims and squeezing until their prey suffocates or is crushed to death and dies from internal bleeding. Then the snake unhinges its jaw and swallows the victim whole.
The red bellied piranha swims around the Amazon river basin in packs of about 20 to 30. They swim in groups mainly to provide protection and they can grow up to about 14 inches and live to be 20 years old.
Piranhas are illusive animals and that's exactly why they made the list; because they are looked at as being really scary but in reality they are timid scavengers, most likely to feed on other fish, insects, invertebrates and even plants.
Nothing sounds scarries than a testicle eating fish right?! Pacus gained a reputation as testicle eating fish after Jeremy Wade featured them on a 2011 episode of his Animal Planet show "River Monsters".
Wade said Amazonian locals told him two men died after they had their testicles bitten off by a fish. "I had heard of a couple of fishermen in Papua, New Guinea, who had been castrated by something in the water," Wade said at the time. "The bleeding was so severe that they died. The locals told me that this thing was like a human in the water, biting at the testicles of fishermen. They didn’t know what it was."
They look the part but they don't actually attack humans. Vampire fish prey primarily on smaller fish, especially piranhas, which they impale with their long, sharp fangs. Like every other animals it has got a lot more reason to fear us than vice versa. The Payara is a popular fish on markets across Brazil. For us though it looks to scary to go near it even when dead!

But sadly it was this wanderlust which was to be his undoing, and he was to endure a gruesome fate even his rich-ass family couldn't save him from.
Many ancient myths and legends tell of giant humans who once roamed the Earth, but could such a race of people actually have existed? And if so, has the dense canvas of the jungle kept these giant humans secret?
In the 1980s a huge amount of deforestation took place across the Amazon rainforest, because if there's one thing humanity loves it's shaving Mother Nature bare. But when the trees were removed and the forest floor was exposed an interesting discovery was made; a series of ring-shaped ditches dug out of the earth, right in the middle of the jungle. Confirmed as being man-made, investigations revealed these ditches were dug a long time ago, way before the Amazon rainforest even existed.
It is estimated the Amazon contains around 100 tribes humanity is yet to formally shake hands with, but as much of the jungle is unmapped and tough to traverse this number is just an estimate, and could be much higher.
On January 13 2007 this woman emerged from the Cambodian jungle covered in filth, marked with deep scars, and completely naked, and to this day nobody knows who she is or where she came from. At first a local family claimed she was their long lost daughter Rochom P'ngieng who disappeared aged 9 in 1988 along with her sister, yet when DNA tests were arranged the family mysteriously cancelled them.

It is believed that the last group of uncontacted native peoples in North America were the Lacandón people, discovered in the early part of the 20th century. Both Ishi's Yahi family, and the Lacandón Maya, were aware of European colonization and the civilization that had developed from it, but purposefully avoided any direct contact, preferring to interact only with other native peoples.

Survival has been calling on the Peruvian government to protect land inhabited by uncontacted tribes since the 1970s.
Today, five reserves have been created for uncontacted tribes, and Peru has ratified laws that uphold the tribes’ right to be left alone.
But now the threats are greater than ever. Illegal loggers and miners are invading the forest, and oil and gas concessions cut across more than 70% of Peru’s Amazon region.
We’re campaigning to ensure the government upholds uncontacted tribes’ right to their land and prevents outsiders from invading it.

The spiders are nocturnal, and so find places to hide during the day. This is why they are so dangerous, because they hide in houses and cars, where they are easily disturbed by humans.
What's scarrier than the largest snake in the world? That's exactly what the anaconda is when both weight and length are considered. It can reach a length of 30 feet and weigh up to 550 pounds. Weirdly females are significantly larger than males.
Anacondas eat amphibious animals, like frogs & toads, as well as fish, caiman, birds, ducks and turtles. Anacondas are members of the boa constrictor family of snakes. That means that they kill their prey by coiling their large, powerful bodies around their victims and squeezing until their prey suffocates or is crushed to death and dies from internal bleeding. Then the snake unhinges its jaw and swallows the victim whole.
The red bellied piranha swims around the Amazon river basin in packs of about 20 to 30. They swim in groups mainly to provide protection and they can grow up to about 14 inches and live to be 20 years old.
Piranhas are illusive animals and that's exactly why they made the list; because they are looked at as being really scary but in reality they are timid scavengers, most likely to feed on other fish, insects, invertebrates and even plants.
Nothing sounds scarries than a testicle eating fish right?! Pacus gained a reputation as testicle eating fish after Jeremy Wade featured them on a 2011 episode of his Animal Planet show "River Monsters".
Wade said Amazonian locals told him two men died after they had their testicles bitten off by a fish. "I had heard of a couple of fishermen in Papua, New Guinea, who had been castrated by something in the water," Wade said at the time. "The bleeding was so severe that they died. The locals told me that this thing was like a human in the water, biting at the testicles of fishermen. They didn’t know what it was."
They look the part but they don't actually attack humans. Vampire fish prey primarily on smaller fish, especially piranhas, which they impale with their long, sharp fangs. Like every other animals it has got a lot more reason to fear us than vice versa. The Payara is a popular fish on markets across Brazil. For us though it looks to scary to go near it even when dead!

Many ancient myths and legends tell of giant humans who once roamed the Earth, but could such a race of people actually have existed? And if so, has the dense canvas of the jungle kept these giant humans secret?
In the 1980s a huge amount of deforestation took place across the Amazon rainforest, because if there's one thing humanity loves it's shaving Mother Nature bare. But when the trees were removed and the forest floor was exposed an interesting discovery was made; a series of ring-shaped ditches dug out of the earth, right in the middle of the jungle. Confirmed as being man-made, investigations revealed these ditches were dug a long time ago, way before the Amazon rainforest even existed.
It is estimated the Amazon contains around 100 tribes humanity is yet to formally shake hands with, but as much of the jungle is unmapped and tough to traverse this number is just an estimate, and could be much higher.
On January 13 2007 this woman emerged from the Cambodian jungle covered in filth, marked with deep scars, and completely naked, and to this day nobody knows who she is or where she came from. At first a local family claimed she was their long lost daughter Rochom P'ngieng who disappeared aged 9 in 1988 along with her sister, yet when DNA tests were arranged the family mysteriously cancelled them.

It is estimated the Amazon contains around 100 tribes humanity is yet to formally shake hands with, but as much of the jungle is unmapped and tough to traverse this number is just an estimate, and could be much higher.
On January 13 2007 this woman emerged from the Cambodian jungle covered in filth, marked with deep scars, and completely naked, and to this day nobody knows who she is or where she came from. At first a local family claimed she was their long lost daughter Rochom P'ngieng who disappeared aged 9 in 1988 along with her sister, yet when DNA tests were arranged the family mysteriously cancelled them.

One in five of all the bird species in the world live in the rainforests of the Amazon, and one in five of the fish species live in Amazonian rivers and streams.
Atlantic Forest (Mata Atlântica) - A region of tropical and subtropical forest which extends along the Atlantic coast of Brazil from Rio Grande do Norte state in the Northeast to Rio Grande do Sul state in the South. The Atlantic Forest has a wide variety of vegetation, including the many tree species such as the iconic araucaria tree in the south or the mangroves of the northeast, dozens of types of bromeliads and orchids, and unique critters such as capivara. The forest has also been designated a World Biosphere Reserve, with a large number of highly endangered species including the well-known marmosets, lion tamarins and woolly spider monkeys. Unfortunately, it has been extensively cleared since colonial times, mainly for the farming of sugar cane and for urban settlements — The remnants are estimated to be less than 10% of the original, and that is often broken into hilltop islands. However, large swaths of it are protected by hundreds of parks, including 131 federal parks, 443 state parks, and 14 municipal parks, most of which are open to visitation.
Campos Gerais - With a vast vegetation of grasses and areas of transition between the Cerrado and Atlantic Forest, this region offers beautiful scenery of cliffs and canyons, as Jaguaricatú Valley, beyond the fifth and the eighth most extensive canyons in the world, which are respectively Guartelá and Jaguariaíva . Jaguariaíva the canyon is made more beautiful rafting activity in Brazil.
Pantanal - A vast tropical wetland expanse, one of the world's largest. 80% of it lies within the state of Mato Grosso do Sul but it also extends into Mato Grosso (as well as into portions of Bolivia and Paraguay), sprawling over an area estimated at between 140,000 and 195,000 square kilometers (54,000-75,000 sq mi). 80% of the Pantanal floodplains are submerged during the rainy seasons, nurturing an astonishing biologically diverse collection of aquatic plants and helping support a dense array of animal species.
Waterfalls (Cachoeiras) - Brazil has an amazing range of impressive waterfalls of all sizes and shapes. Iguaçu Falls, in eastern Parana, is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the world, truly a sight to see. The 353-meter Cachoeira da Fumaça in Bahia's Chapada Diamantina National Park is the country's second highest waterfall, after the Amazon's almost inaccessible Cachoeira do Araca. Other famous waterfalls include Caracol Falls, in a Rio Grande do Sul state park of the same name near Canela, Itaquira Falls, an easily accessible 168-meter fall near Formosa, Goiás, and the gorge at Parque da Cascata near Sete Lagoas, Minas Gerais. Aside from the nationally famous falls, in many parts of the country, particularly the South, Southeast, and Central West regions, you are rarely far from at least one locally-famous, named waterfall worth a short hike.

There are certain places on this planet that seem almost like fiction.
Unreachable destinations that you expect to only see in story books and documentaries.
The Amazon Rainforest in northern Brazil was one of those places for me.
So when I had the opportunity to come to Brazil, I wasn't going to miss the chance to fulfill a lifelong dream.
My experience began in the gateway city of Manaus, where the journey into the jungle proved to be a task unto itself...
I took a taxi from the airport down to the city's main harbor.
It was here that had my first glimpse of the incredible size and scope of the Amazon river on ground level.
From here I crossed the river on a small shuttle boat, passing the point where the Rio Negro converges with the Amazon which forms a really cool color divide in the water.
Once on the other side, I passed street vendors selling giant fish and wild fruits, before boarding an old VW wagon.
Past the small towns and giant lilly pads, we drove further away from civilization before making one last transfer into a small motorboat.
As we weaved through the flooded forest, the reality of this experience started to set in!
The Ararinha Jungle Hotel would serve as the launch pad for all my Rainforest adventures.
By day we explored the river and trekked through the Amazon rainforest.
In the water we looked out for exotic birds, hidden lizards and even the rare pink dolphins and on land it was giant spiders, poison dart frogs and all types of monkeys.
While the rare Anaconda and Jaguar were always in the back of my mind, it was the smaller animals that you really had to be aware of.
We would go catch piranha in the shallow waters and then boat out to the middle of the river nearby to swim.
It was a dangerous and beautiful place, and my senses were heightened the entire time.
Throughout the process, Kenrick and the other guides taught me some important skills and techniques for surviving in the jungle. From making weapons and building shelter to finding the best things to eat if you're hungry.
Another side of life in the Amazon, is the close-nit community of people who live along the river. I was expecting to see naked tribes and face-painted cannibals, but that wasn't the case at all.
I had the opportunity to meet and interact with many local residents and despite the remote location, life here seems relatively normal, and it comes with an alluring simplicity and self-sufficiency.
One morning we visited one of local farms who were in the middle of cultivating the popular Brazilian staple, Farinha or Farofa. He should us how to transform the poisones root into an edible side-dish and I even popped my top to help out.
On another day we were invited to a house party with some of the off-duty guides and surrounding neighbors.
It was great to see what life was like on a Friday night with people my age in the Amazon.
And at night, when the sensible locals would turn in, we'd launch the boat again and head out to explore the darkness.
With 75% of the animals here being nocturnal, the noises and commotion at night were like nothing I've ever heard.
The easiest thing to spot were caimans, whose beady red eyes surfaced across the river. And apparently, if you're fast and quiet enough, you can reach down into the water and grab one.
On my final day in the Amazon, we decided to take a small crew out to get the full effect of the jungle, and go camp out.
We found a flat, dry space not far from the river and worked quickly to setup camp before dark.
We chopped trees for a tarp frame, cautiously gathered firewood and began cooking dinner over the fire.
As darkness and a little paranoia set in, we enjoyed dinner and drinks to the developing sounds around us.
We listened to music, played cards, and of course, peed close by.
We had some more drinks, made hats out of palm branch and shared stories well into the night.
After an camp-made breakfast with fresh fruit, eggs and coffee, it was time for me to pack up and head back to Manaus.
And although I spent a week engulfed in this incredible place… the people, the wildlife, the environment… everything still makes the Amazon seem like fiction...

In the water we looked out for exotic birds, hidden lizards and even the rare pink dolphins and on land it was giant spiders, poison dart frogs and all types of monkeys.
While the rare Anaconda and Jaguar were always in the back of my mind, it was the smaller animals that you really had to be aware of.
We would go catch piranha in the shallow waters and then boat out to the middle of the river nearby to swim.
It was a dangerous and beautiful place, and my senses were heightened the entire time.
Throughout the process, Kenrick and the other guides taught me some important skills and techniques for surviving in the jungle. From making weapons and building shelter to finding the best things to eat if you're hungry.
Another side of life in the Amazon, is the close-nit community of people who live along the river. I was expecting to see naked tribes and face-painted cannibals, but that wasn't the case at all.
I had the opportunity to meet and interact with many local residents and despite the remote location, life here seems relatively normal, and it comes with an alluring simplicity and self-sufficiency.
One morning we visited one of local farms who were in the middle of cultivating the popular Brazilian staple, Farinha or Farofa. He should us how to transform the poisones root into an edible side-dish and I even popped my top to help out.
On another day we were invited to a house party with some of the off-duty guides and surrounding neighbors.
It was great to see what life was like on a Friday night with people my age in the Amazon.
And at night, when the sensible locals would turn in, we'd launch the boat again and head out to explore the darkness.
With 75% of the animals here being nocturnal, the noises and commotion at night were like nothing I've ever heard.
The easiest thing to spot were caimans, whose beady red eyes surfaced across the river. And apparently, if you're fast and quiet enough, you can reach down into the water and grab one.
On my final day in the Amazon, we decided to take a small crew out to get the full effect of the jungle, and go camp out.
We found a flat, dry space not far from the river and worked quickly to setup camp before dark.
We chopped trees for a tarp frame, cautiously gathered firewood and began cooking dinner over the fire.
As darkness and a little paranoia set in, we enjoyed dinner and drinks to the developing sounds around us.
We listened to music, played cards, and of course, peed close by.
We had some more drinks, made hats out of palm branch and shared stories well into the night.
After an camp-made breakfast with fresh fruit, eggs and coffee, it was time for me to pack up and head back to Manaus.
And although I spent a week engulfed in this incredible place… the people, the wildlife, the environment… everything still makes the Amazon seem like fiction...

Peru – a land of extremes and intrigue – principally known for being home to the most important archaeological site in all of the Americas, offers in reality so much more. Its landscapes range from high Andean peaks, to sultry Amazon rainforests, from high altitude deserts and wild windswept coasts. Of course its great to travel with the Incas from Cusco to the awe-inspiring Machu Picchu, but its also possible to get off the beaten track, to explore remote ruins of the cloud warriors in the north, or afro-Peruvian beats along the pacific coast. Most of all it’s a diverse country that offers something for everyone. But for many, a trip to Peru will begin in Cusco.
As the ancient Inca capital, and the political power base in colonial times, Cusco has its fair share of sites. Sitting in a narrow valley surrounded by pine-covered hills, it’s a stunning place with enough cathedrals, churches, museums, galleries, cafes and shops to keep the modern traveller entertained for a week. Of course with one of the world’s foremost tourist attractions lying just up the road, most of the time Cusco is busy with locals and travellers alike, but don’t let that put you off; like many other similar locations, Cusco is popular for a reason… it’s simply a beautiful place to hang out.
As the traditional thoroughfare between Cusco and Machu Picchu, the lush agricultural Sacred Valley is littered with impressive Inca ruins. Probably the most famous are the sites of Pisac – where the famous terraces rise over a thousand feet from the valley floor to the mountaintop – and at Ullataytambo. Here again the site overs a great insight into the life of the Inca nation and some great views of the Sacred Valley. There are also some pretty towns and villages to explore; you can hike, horse ride, mountain bike or even paraglide; and you can stay in some pretty special accommodation.
But of course most people travelling this way have one goal in mind, and that’s to reach the ancient Inca citadel of Machu Pichu. There are many ways to get to the sacred Inca site: you can trek along the Inca Trail, or walk staying at beautiful mountain lodges, or you can horse ride, pretty much all the way there. Wild Frontiers offers a horse riding trip through the region.
There are plenty of trains to take you to Machu Picchu, but this is the most special. The Hiram Bingham service, operated by the Belmond Orient Express, offers a great way to climb through the Andean foothills to Machu Picchu, presenting great views – either from your seat of the observation car – delicious dining and champagne! Alighting at Aguas Calientes, buses then take us the last part of the journey to the actual site itself.
Although the exact purpose and function of Machu Picchu is still a matter of conjecture, there’s no denying that for the Incas this awe-inspiring ancient city must have been a very important ceremonial site. The quality of the buildings, of the intricate terracing, and the lofty position of the citadel itself, all point towards a hugely important cultural centre. Interestingly, it was never revealed to the Spanish invaders, and was only discovered in the early 20th century when American historian, Hiram Bingham, chanced upon it while searching for the lost city of Vilcabamba. Today it undoubtedly forms the highlight for most peoples’ trips to Peru.
For many that is tourism in Peru; but not for us at Wild Frontiers. For us this vast country offers much more. For a start there is the beautiful Lake Titicaca to check out, a giant inland sea, peppered by idyllic rural islands. (Use images from Bolivia) There is the picturesque town of Araquipa, back-dropped by the stunning El Misti volcano, and access point to the spectacular Colca Canyon, where you are pretty much guaranteed to see the mighty Andean condor fly. There are the quite extraordinary Nazca lines to fly above and Peru is one of the best places to visit the Amazon rainforest, where you are likely to stumble upon all manner of exotic animals. And in the country’s rarely visited northern highlands were we run one of our most successful group tours to visit, among other places, the fortress of Kuelap, and the home of the ancient cloud warriors of Chachopyas, and the newly discovered Gocta Falls.
And lastly of course there are the Peruvians themselves, whose colourful culture dates back into the mists of time, and who are as hospitable and friendly as any on the continent.
(245 or 246) For most tourism to Peru will revolve around three places, Cusco, the Sacred Valley and here at Macchu Pichu. But my advice is to remember, as amazing as those places are there’s a lot more travelling in Peru than just that. Come and see for yourself.

Manaus is the capital city of the state of Amazonas in northern Brazil. It is situated at the confluence of the Negro and Solimões rivers. With a population of two million, it is the most populous city of Amazonas.
The city was founded in 1693-94 as the Fort of São José do Rio Negro. It was elevated to a town in 1832 with the name of "Manaus", an altered spelling of the indigenous Manaós peoples, and legally transformed into a city on October 24, 1848, with the name of Cidade da Barra do Rio Negro, Portuguese for "The City of the Margins of Black River". On September 4, 1856 it returned to its original name.
Manaus is located in the middle of the Amazon rainforest, and access to the city is primarily through boat or airplane. This isolation helped preserve both the nature as well as the culture of the city. The culture of Manaus, more than in any other urban area of Brazil, preserves the habits of Native Brazilian tribes. The city is the main entrance to visit the fauna and flora of the Brazilian Amazon. Few places in the world afford such a variety of plants, birds, insects, and fishes.
It was known at the beginning of the century, as "Heart of the Amazon" and "City of the Forest". Currently its main economic engine is the Industrial Pool of Manaus, the famous Free Economic Zone. The city has a free port and an international airport. Its manufactures include electronics, chemical products, and soap; there are distilling and ship construction industries. Manaus also exports Brazil nuts, rubber, jute and rosewood oil. It has a cathedral, opera house, zoological and botanical gardens, an ecopark and regional and native peoples museums.
With a population of 1.9 million people in 2014, Manaus is the most populous city in the Brazilian Amazon area and the 7th most populous in the country.[6] Located on the north bank of the Negro River, 11 miles (18 km) above the meeting of the rivers where the Negro merges with the Solimões, Manaus is 900 miles (1,450 km) inland from the Atlantic Ocean. It is the hub of tourism for the rivers, the jungle lodges and the river cruises.
The Solimões and Negro rivers meet in Manaus and join to form the Amazon River (using the Brazilian definition of the river; elsewhere, Solimões is considered the upper part of the Amazon). Rubber made it the richest city in South America during the late 1800s. Rubber also helped Manaus earn its nickname, the "Paris of the Tropics". Many wealthy European families settled in Manaus and brought their love for sophisticated European art, architecture and culture with them. Manaus is also a duty-free zone, which has encouraged development in the region.

Ponta Negra Beach it's a nice spot,and popular river beach. It has several bars and restaurants and is some distance west of the city.
Praia da Lua Beach very clean and nice river beach a few kilometers from Ponta Negra upstream the Rio Negro. Access by shared motorized canoe from Estalagem de David.
Paricatuba Waterfall is on the right bank of the Negro River, along a small tributary, is formed by sedimentary rocks, surrounded by abundant vegetation. Access is by boat. The best time to visit is from August to February.
Love Cascade is in the Guedes bayou, with cold and crystal clear water, is accessible only by boat and, then, hiking through the Forest.

Ponta Negra Beach it's a nice spot,and popular river beach. It has several bars and restaurants and is some distance west of the city.
Praia da Lua Beach very clean and nice river beach a few kilometers from Ponta Negra upstream the Rio Negro. Access by shared motorized canoe from Estalagem de David.
Paricatuba Waterfall is on the right bank of the Negro River, along a small tributary, is formed by sedimentary rocks, surrounded by abundant vegetation. Access is by boat. The best time to visit is from August to February.
Love Cascade is in the Guedes bayou, with cold and crystal clear water, is accessible only by boat and, then, hiking through the Forest.

So we are staying in the coolest place ever. We have just arrived at the Treehouse Lodge in the middle of the Amazon jungle. And we're going to be living in a tree house for the next few days. So come along and I'm going to show you our personal private tree house. And we're living in a tree house! We're living in a treehouse!
Every kids dream.
Okay, well we want to show you more of the property but right now we're about to head out on a jungle walk. We're going to be looking for medicinal plants and learning about their uses. It also just started pouring rain. So it is time for our jungle expedition.
So Sam, you look like you're ready for a jungle excursion.
Show us your footwear. And here is the leaf that is used to make the Juane. The traditional food from the Amazon jungle here in Peru.
So we are back from the jungle excursion. Yeah, that jungle walk was awesome. We learned so much about all of the different local plants and what they are used for in terms of different medicinal properties and also for food. And now we're off on a cool boat trip. We're just going to be cruising down the Amazon and looking for pink dolphins. Yes and maybe we'll stick around for sunset too.
Macau look! So we just spotted a sloth up in the tree. We wouldn't have seen it if it wasn't for our guide though. And this is sunset on the Amazon river. So that is the end of day one. How are you feeling about sleeping in this tree house? Awesome. A lot of adventure.
Well, good morning it is the start of day two and it was sure raining last night. Like thunderstorms, the whole deal.
We're going to try and spot some wildlife. We went out for a little excursion this morning and we've been traveling upstream and now we've arrived at a prime location to fish piranhas. So Sam, how are you feeling about that? Feeling good because you're going to stick your fingers in and they're going to bite them, right?
So we've going to use this small fish. Oh! To feed the piranha.
You want to try to splash the water. That is the way how to attract the piraña. Splashing the water. Calling the piranha. Okay, so I'm going try my hand at fishing for piranhas. I've got the bait here. Right here. Let's do this. Our first piraña.
Look at the teeth on that sucker. Oh my gosh I would not want to be bitten by one of those. That is scary.
You got one! Show it to us. I finally caught one. It was a big one too.
There you go. Sam's first piranha. Look at that. Probably my 20th attempt and I was not going to give up until I got one.
Now it is time for lunch. We are having ceviche. Our favorite as an appetizer. Wow, look at that.
So we are about to go on one more excursion this evening but before we head out we want to show you the rest of the property. So let's go in search of some tree houses.
We are now entering the bamboo forest.
Oh! Are they fighting? Yeah. Squack. Alright, so Sam is going to feed a monkey. Yes, I've got my chunk of banana. Now time to throw it.
So right now we are trekking through the mud in search of giant lily pads.
So we are meeting a sloth that was apparently rescued by a family when it was really young. So it lives with them in the house and it is very sleepy and slow. So oh, but it has woken up. It is eating. Pablito? Pablito is having lunch.
Okay so this morning we went fishing for piranha and now we are having it for dinner.

Trekking is a great way to see the country. The most widely known route is the classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Other popular routes include Cordillera Blanca - Huaraz, Colca Canyon - Arequipa, Ausangate Trek, Salkantay trek (also spelt Salkcantay), Choquequirao trek and Inka Jungle trek to Machu Picchu - an adrenaline trip to Machu Picchu.
Trek prices can vary considerably between companies, as can their respective porters' working conditions (no pack animals are allowed, hence equipment is carried by human porters). Although there is a minimum porter wage (PEN42/day, about USD15) and maximum load porters can carry (25kg/55 lb), not all companies keep to their claims!
Peru offers a big variety of adrenaline sport such as rafting, kayaking, biking, zip line, horseback riding, surfing, ATV, motocross, paragliding, canopy, canoing, sandboarding, etc.

Although Peru has rich natural resources and many great places to visit, the poverty scale reaches 25.8% of the population. The rich, consisting mostly of a Hispanic (or "Criollo") elite, live in the cities. Nevertheless, most Peruvians are great nationalists and love their country with pride (largely stemming from Peru's history as the hub of both the Inca empire and Spain's South American empire). Also, many Peruvians separate the state of Peru and its government in their minds. Many of them distrust their government and police, and people are used to fighting corruption and embezzlement scandals, as in many countries.
The Peruvian economy is healthy and quite strong, however inequality is still common. It is indebted and dependent on industrial nations, especially China, Russia and United States. The US foreign policy decisions in recent years has contributed to a widely held negative view about the US government in Peru, but not against individual citizens.
The word gringo is used commonly but is not generally intended as offensive. The original meaning encompassed all white people who do not speak Spanish. Many people use the word gringo exclusively for Americans or American look-alikes. It's not uncommon for blonde people to be called gringo. Peruvians do not hesitate to greet you with "¡Hola, gringo!".
Generally, people are very friendly, peaceful and helpful. When in trouble, you mostly can rely on getting help. But as with any setting, it is always good to watch out for yourself and try to avoid bad situations. If you get into an argument, it is a good idea to remain amicable, but firm. Most of the time, you can find a compromise that satisfies everyone.

The diversity of Peru's people and cultures is reflected in a rich tradition of festivals, dance and music. In the Andes, the plaintive wail of the flute and beat of the drum accompany songs depicting indigenous life while dancers masked as devils and spirits are a marriage of pagan and Christian beliefs. In the jungle, ceremonial music and dance are a window into tribal life. And along the coast, a blend of elegant Spanish sounds and vibrant African rhythms reflect the Conquest and later slave labour of the New World.

Trekking is a great way to see the country. The most widely known route is the classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Other popular routes include Cordillera Blanca - Huaraz, Colca Canyon - Arequipa, Ausangate Trek, Salkantay trek (also spelt Salkcantay), Choquequirao trek and Inka Jungle trek to Machu Picchu - an adrenaline trip to Machu Picchu.
Trek prices can vary considerably between companies, as can their respective porters' working conditions (no pack animals are allowed, hence equipment is carried by human porters). Although there is a minimum porter wage (PEN42/day, about USD15) and maximum load porters can carry (25kg/55 lb), not all companies keep to their claims!
Peru offers a big variety of adrenaline sport such as rafting, kayaking, biking, zip line, horseback riding, surfing, ATV, motocross, paragliding, canopy, canoing, sandboarding, etc.
Another popular activity to do in Peru is to visit its wildlife in the Amazon Rainforest that can be also considered as an adrenaline sport thanks to spending time among wild animals. Peru have differents activites and experiences: Tierras Vivas[10] is specialist in holidays to Peru

Although Peru has rich natural resources and many great places to visit, the poverty scale reaches 25.8% of the population. The rich, consisting mostly of a Hispanic (or "Criollo") elite, live in the cities. Nevertheless, most Peruvians are great nationalists and love their country with pride (largely stemming from Peru's history as the hub of both the Inca empire and Spain's South American empire). Also, many Peruvians separate the state of Peru and its government in their minds. Many of them distrust their government and police, and people are used to fighting corruption and embezzlement scandals, as in many countries.
The Peruvian economy is healthy and quite strong, however inequality is still common. It is indebted and dependent on industrial nations, especially China, Russia and United States. The US foreign policy decisions in recent years has contributed to a widely held negative view about the US government in Peru, but not against individual citizens.
The word gringo is used commonly but is not generally intended as offensive. The original meaning encompassed all white people who do not speak Spanish. Many people use the word gringo exclusively for Americans or American look-alikes. It's not uncommon for blonde people to be called gringo. Peruvians do not hesitate to greet you with "¡Hola, gringo!".
Generally, people are very friendly, peaceful and helpful. When in trouble, you mostly can rely on getting help. But as with any setting, it is always good to watch out for yourself and try to avoid bad situations. If you get into an argument, it is a good idea to remain amicable, but firm. Most of the time, you can find a compromise that satisfies everyone.
