This video show how to transform some pieces of polystyrene in fake rocks.
The rocks are very realistic so that my brother was believed they were real.
The colors used are suitable for an oriental Nativity Scene, but you can use also different colors (eg. black and gray), the important thing is that you use the dark color before and light color at the end.
I used Christmas music because normally this type of video is watched at Christmas time and because this type of music is free from copyright. If you don't like it, you can mute it, because no instruction is given using voice.

Polystyrene (

Polystyrene can either be a thermoset or a thermoplastic. A thermoplastic polystyrene is in a solid (glassy) state at room temperature, but flows if heated above its glass transition temperature of about 100 °C (for molding or extrusion), and becomes solid again when cooled. Pure solid polystyrene is a colorless, hard plastic with limited flexibility. It can be cast into molds with fine detail. Polystyrene can be transparent or can be made to take on various colors.
Solid polystyrene is used, for example, in disposable cutlery, plastic models, CD and DVD cases, and smoke detector housings. Products made from foamed polystyrene are nearly ubiquitous, for example packing materials, insulation, and foam drink cups.
