Uppalapu Srinivas (Telugu: ఉప్పలపు శ్రీనివాస్; 28 February 1969 – 19 September 2014) was an Indian mandolin player and composer of the Carnatic musical tradition of Southern India. A child prodigy, he made his debut in 1978, and came to be popularly known as Mandolin Srinivas. Over the next four decades, he toured across the world, and collaborated with ohn McLaughlin,Michael Nyman, and Michael Brook. Srinivas was born 28 February 1969, in Palakol in Andhra Pradesh. Jayashri was born in Kolkata, into a family of music connoisseurs and musicians. While growing up in Mumbai, she started training in Carnatic music under the guidance of her parents Seetha and N. N. Subramaniam. Jayashri has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from R. A. Sangeetha Kalanidhi Maharajapuram Santhanam (Tamil: மகாராஜபுரம் ஸந்தானம்), (December 3, 1928June 24, 1992) was one of the great Carnatic music vocalists of the 20th century. He was born in Sirunangur, a village in the state of Tamil Nadu. He followed the footsteps of his father Maharajapuram Viswanatha Iyer who was also a Carnatic singer. Besides studying with his father, he was also a disciple of Melattur Sama Dikshitar. Maharajapuram Santhanam was also a distinguished composer. He wrote many songs on Lord Murugan and Kanchi Shankaracharya, His Holiness Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswati Swamigal (Maha Periyavar). He was the Principal of Ramanathan College in Sri Lanka. Sudha Raghunathan was born in a Tamil Brahmin family in Bangalore, Karnataka. In 1977, her family moved to Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She studied at Ethiraj College, and obtained a postgraduate degree in Economics. she received an Indian government scholarship to study music under a doyenne of Carnatic music,Dr. M.L Vasantha Kumari, whose student she remained for thirteen years.
