Kundalini yoga

Kundalini yoga is seen as a more spiritual style of yoga, one where the practitioner connects with “god” or a higher spiritual awareness.

In Sanskrit, Kundalini means “coiled”, and in yoga, it refers to the energy at the base of the spine. Often, it is referred to as the sleeping serpent, coiled at the bottom of the spine.

Kundalini seeks to awaken and balance the rising deep spiritual energy in our body, often referred to as "raising the roof". This yoga is based on specific exercises that aim to balance the chakra system.

This style of yoga is said to take you to a heightened state of being or enlightenment, as well as keep the body in shape, focus the mind and create calm by strengthening the nervous and immune systems. Poses are held with the breath to increase awareness and free-up energy.
