Group Singing Performance: “Sanjaya Cha Vellar” (Karnataka Konkani Folk Song) by Lorraine Fiona Aloysius and students of Lorraine Music Academy at the concert “COME INDIA SING JANA GANA MANA – A Musical Evening in Honour of India on Republic Day” hosted by the Lorraine Music Academy & the LAMP Trust on Monday 26th January 2015 at Epicentre Auditorium, Gurgaon. SINGING & DANCING FOR NATION BUILDING Lorraine Music Academy and LAMP Trust hosted “COME INDIA SING JANA GANA MANA – A Musical Evening in Honour of India on Republic Day” on Monday 26th January 2015 at Epicentre Auditorium, Apparel House, Sector-44, Gurgaon. Our 66th Republic Day was celebrated with high spirit, energy and emotion of patriotism. 170 children and youth aged 4 years to 25 years from across the National Capital Region of Delhi sang and danced to folk, patriotic and nation-building songs with a spirit of excellence. The show began with the lighting of the traditional lamp by the distinguished Guests and members of the community from across the National Capital Region. The concert began with a bang with the singing of “Aye Mere Watan Ke Logo” by Vandita Swami, student of CCA School, followed by students of Lorraine Music Academy singing a song with tri-colour kites held high titled “Let’s Go Fly A Kite, Up To The Highest Heights”. Lorraine Fiona Aloysius played the Piano while she sang along with the children the famous Bengali Folk Song “Dhitang Dhitang Bole” (a call to Nation Building by farmers) and a Konkani Song from Karnataka “Sanjaya Cha Vellar” (our country is beautiful, may God bless our country). Various patriotic & folk song & dance performances from states of Punjab, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Mizoram among others were put up by CCA School, Amity International School, Suncity World School, Pathways World School, Manav Rachna International School, Ridge Valley School, Scottish High International School and Euro International School. Some of the songs included “Lakshya”, “Janmabhoomi Meri Pyari Janmabhoomi”, “Vande Mataram”, “Tu Hi Bharosa”, “Chanda Suraj Lakhon Taare”, “Janani Janma Bhoomi” among others. The Youth Choir of Lorraine Music Academy touched the hearts of people by singing a spiritual song “You Raised Me Up So I Can Stand On Mountains”. The Musical Evening in Honour of India also included a brief workshop embedded in the concert to educate and encourage the audience to abide by the Constitution of India and respect its ideals and institutions, the National Flag and the National Anthem. This included an explanation and training on the proper singing of the National Anthem as per the code as laid out in the Constitution – in the right rhythm, melody and timing.
