Arthur Abraham is in line to fight for his old WBO super middleweight title after being put forward for a final eliminator against Robin Krasniqi.
The World Boxing Organisation made the announcement at the recent WBO Convention despite the fact Abraham was in training to face Briton Martin Murray in a rematch on November 12 in Monte Carlo.
Not long after the WBO’s decision, Abraham then cited an elbow injury in training as the reason to cancel his fight with Murray, although the German is still expected to begin talks with Krasniqi in the meantime.
The winner of Abraham v Krasniqi will be the mandatory challenger for Gilberto Ramirez, which would give the former an opportunity to reverse his loss to the Mexican back in April.
What was strange timing by the WBO has now left Murray in limbo and without an opponent for his return to Monaco in just seventeen days time.
"Just to let you know that my rematch with Abraham is off due to him being injured. Just in the process of sorting another opponent now," said Murray.
Further on the matter is set to come to light in the coming days although Abraham’s injury shouldn’t keep him out too long ahead of a clash with Krasniqi, which could be finalized before the end of the year.
