A little over two months since the adventure exploration survival video game “No Man’s Sky” has been released on the PlayStation 4 and the PC, and also over two months since it drew enormous flak for its tedious and boring gameplay, there is still no official word on game developer Hello Games on how they intend to fix the problem.
Because of the failure of Hello Games to address the situation as full-fledged game developers normally would, there are now speculations going around saying that “No Man’s Sky” is close to complete extinction, reports the iTech Post.
There are reports saying that the issues on “No Man’s Sky” have been spiraling out control and only Hello Games can stop it if it still plans to do something about it.
The rumors were fuelled by speculations claiming that Hello Games have allegedly abandon their office in Guildford, England although it was debunked by sources who still saw the office of the game developer very much intact.
But the issues regarding “No Man’s Sky” will never be resolved unless Hello Games and its President Sean Murray come out soon to address the controversies up front.
Many players of “No Man’s Sky” have remained hopeful that Sean Murray and his team would speak up soon to counter all the negative issues emanating mostly from the overwhelming criticisms and threats of abandonment.
However, there are also some who are questioning the capability of Hello Games to salvage whatever is left of the space simulator video game and keep whatever dignity and pride it had left.
A shifting mindset on the game
“No Man’s Sky” has transformed from an object of mystery and wonder to one of ridicule and controversy, reports the Game Revolution.
The game is actually an outcome that has prompted Hello Games and Sean Murray to go in hiding with the game’s main forum turning into wastelands and buyer’s remorse.
As a result, the popularity of “No Man’s Sky” from its pre-launch state has fallen off at a radical rate. As a matter of fact, the game’s interactive playerbase has diminished faster than any game in recent memory.
While the game sold a lot of units, and was undoubtedly a profitable venture for both Sony and Hello Games, but returns and destroyed mind share are sure to cost both companies.
Fans have requested an explanation from Hello Games with regards to how the game they marketed was so much different than what they delivered. There are even elements of the game shown in pre-release demos that were outright cut.
Sean Murray has shared that in the future he may open up and provide closure for fans. Many critics are hoping so, because as of right now, the game’s tragic turn for the worst is one of the greatest mysteries of the galaxy.
The biggest video game disappointment of the year
Meanwhile, “No Man’s Sky” officially hit the PlayStation 4 and the PC early last month, it ended up as one of the year’s biggest video game disappointments.
Contrary to the features promised by Hello Games founder Sean Murray months and weeks before the release of the game, there was hardly anything I the game that would keep the gamers from playing.
Apart from lacking the promised features, it was also a repetitive superficial experience making it extremely boring for gamers.
It was actually nowhere close to what Hello Games promised. The missing features were even detailed in a Reddit post a few days after the game was released, but was eventually removed later. In fact, some critics have referred to “No Man’s Sky” as “One Man’s Lie.”
