Matthew 16 lesson by Dr. Bob Utley, retired professor of hermeneutics (Bible interpretation).
Matthew Chapter 16: 1The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven. 2He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. 3And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times? 4A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed. 5And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread. 6Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. 7And...

http://www.catholic.com/tracts/origins-of-peter-as-pope Catholic Answers Senior Apologist Jimmy Akin answers the claim that Peter is not the "rock" Jesus refers to in Matthew 16:18. Jimmy Akin was born in Texas and grew up nominally Protestant. At age 20 he experienced a profound conversion to Christ. Planning on becoming a Protestant pastor or seminary professor, Jimmy started an intensive study of the Bible, but the more he immersed himself in Scripture, the more he found it to support the Catholic faith. Eventually, he was compelled in conscience to enter the Catholic Church, which he did in 1992. His conversion story, "A Triumph and a Tragedy," is published in the book Surprised By Truth. Akin is a Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, a member on the Catholic Answers Speakers...

Taking a walk means putting several footsteps together, one after the other, along a pathway. For my two dogs, walking is their favorite part of the day. Their excitement level is off the charts when they hear me coming. But when we walk together, they’re supposed to be following me and surrendering to my lead. However, it doesn’t always work out that way. So what does it mean to follow Jesus? Let’s explore what Jesus Himself said He expects of those who follow Him. This teaching is from our series Hashtag with Skip Heitzig from Calvary Albuquerque.
Jim continues to examine whether Peter alone was the rock upon which Yeshua's ekklesia ("church") would be built and whether it was Peter alone that Yeshua gave "the keys to the Kingdom." Then Jim explains what those keys are and how they are connected with a correct understanding of binding and loosing. Jim closes the lesson by explaining why Yeshua told His disciples to not tell anyone that He was the Messiah and why Yeshua spoke so harshly to Peter in Matthew 16:23. lying on the floor i wonder...were you just too afraid to show?
i guess we'll never know
to this distant ever-after...you didn't want to go
were we blinded by a reason?
watching days refuse to shine...to darkness from divine
such a pity for this lover...you left behind
i never wanted anybody else
i never needed you, i needed help
after the feeling's gone...so long, because it's over
not a healthy situation...push me over, hold me down
to see if i would drown
was i waiting for an answer i didn't want to know?
i never wanted anybody else
i never needed you, i needed help
after the feeling's gone...so long, because it's over
and like the lyrics to a song i sang to you before
you know it fades away
i never wanted anybody else
i never needed you, i needed help
