After months of anticipation, Sébastien Loeb has shattered the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb record with a breath-taking time of 8m13.878s in the 208 T16 Pikes Peak. The Frenchman negotiated the 20 kilometres and 156 corners of the mountain at an average speed of 145kph (90mph).

This is the mountain that inspired "America The Beautiful"... and it's quite a mountain to behold! Take the drive up to the top of Pike's Peak, via a curvy, steep road that was only recently paved. The road takes you above 14,000 feet to the top of one of Colorado's "14'ers".
Watch for a separate video that shows you the drive *downhill*.

Ken Block
Kenneth "Ken" Block (born November 21, 1967) is a professional rally driver with the Hoonigan Racing Division, formerly known as the Monster World Rally Team. Block is also one of the co-founders of DC Shoes. Block has also competed in many action sports events including skateboarding, snowboarding, and motocross. Since selling his ownership of DC Shoes, Block has shifted his business focus to Hoonigan Industries, an apparel brand for auto enthusiasts. He is currently the co-owner and Head Hoonigan In Charge (HHIC) at the company.
Rallying
2005
In 2005, Block began his National rallying career with the Vermont SportsCar team. Vermont SportsCar prepared a 2005 Subaru WRX STi for Block to compete. His first event of the rallying season was Sno*Drift, where he ended up finishing seventh overall and fifth in the Group N class. During the 2005 season, Block had five top five finishes and placed third overall in the Group A class and fourth overall in the Rally America National Championship. At the end of his first rallying year, Ken Block had won the Rally America Rookie of the Year award.

This is the mountain that inspired "America The Beautiful"... and it's quite a mountain to behold! Take the drive up to the top of Pike's Peak, via a curvy, steep road that was only recently paved. The road takes you above 14,000 feet to the top of one of Colorado's "14'ers".

Wheel is Thrustmaster TMX. GT Omega wheel stand and RS6 seat. The TV stand was built and painted by me and my friend Brandon. A couple mistakes on the climb, but good enough for now. Time was 9:47, two seconds slower than my best, with lots of potential for improvement.

Does anyone else miss it when it was dirt? Really bad weather that year, they moved the finish line down the mountain from the summit to Devil's Playground. Most folks got under 10min that year. since the course was a lil' short. There is an Unser, a couple of Dallenbachs, and a Mears. Seems appropriate, considering what I'd heard of racing "families" back then. I also see Jeff Zwart dragging a 911 up the hill. Tajima and Millen are there, too.

The documentary about the "America car" where Per Eklund and his team build a monster Saab to compete in Pikes Peak, Colorado. The car did the 2nd fastest time on the track for it's class. Leif Ahl aka "The X" features in this documentary, he is somewhat a motorsport legend in Sweden, i believe the reason why Per was so successful in Pikes Peak is because of The X and the other great mechanics that were behind the project all the way.

Pikes Peak Hike via Barr Trail
I took this hike on July 13, 2016. It was my first time to climb Pikes Peak. I had the perfect weather and day for this awesome adventure. I started the hike at the Barr Trailhead in Manitou Springs at 4:45am and finished about eight hours later at the summit. I used a GoPro to take the time lapse images and a Sony RX100 IV to shoot the video.
