Remember. Return. Relive the epic adventure that was “Jurassic Park” as I visit the film locations on the island of Kauai, Hawaii more than 20 years later. This prehistoric short film is for dinosaur and movie lovers everywhere. "Jurassic Park" was the first movie to make dinosaurs believable. It was groundbreaking in its special effects in 1993, and instantly became another Steven Spielberg classic.
This video (filmed March 2015) is a great visual reference tool if you are planning a trip to the island. Footage for this film was shot from an airbus, a helicopter, a boat, and on foot. Some of the film locations can be challenging to access because of dangerous situations, particularly the dense rainforest to see the Jurassic Park gate. I recommend hiring an experienced guide… And watch out for Velociraptors! Oh yea, don't forget to watch the BONUS FEATURE at the end. For more adventures visit www.jimedhardaway.com
*Ticker correction: From what our pilot said, I was under the impression that the only way to view Jurassic Falls was by helicopter. However, I later learned after I made the video, that there are other ways to it - although extremely challenging.

Just returned from a fantastic trip to Kauai, Hawaii. Swam, snorkeled, and hiked all across this beautiful piece of paradise. One of the best beaches I visited was Poipu Beach (Poʻipū), southern Kauai. The sheer number of fish was astounding and the calm waters at the time made for very relaxing snorkeling.
You will notice there isn't quite as much active coral as on other island beaches, however, the number of fish made up for it. Initially, it was little cloudy, hence the darker water, but it cleared up quickly. Please don't touch the coral or feed the fish here, leave no trace and respect the water!

Canal tubing in the man-made canals that were used to water the sugar cane fields. The float included five man-made tunnels with the longest being 3/4 of a mile long. It was actually kind of cool and very relaxing. The water in the canal is fresh water run off from mountain rain water.

Kauai
Kauaʻi or Kauai (/kə.ˈwaɪ.iː/; Hawaiian: [kɐwˈwɐʔi]) is geologically the oldest of the main Hawaiian Islands. With an area of 562.3 square miles (1,456.4 km2), it is the fourth largest of the main islands in the Hawaiian archipelago, and the 21st largest island in the United States. Known also as the "Garden Isle", Kauaʻi lies 105 miles (169 km) across the Kauaʻi Channel, northwest of Oʻahu. This island is the site of Waimea Canyon State Park.
The United States Census Bureau defines Kauaʻi as Census Tracts 401 through 409 of Kauaʻi County, Hawaiʻi, which is all of the county except for the islands of Kaʻula, Lehua, and Niʻihau. The 2010 United States Census population of the island was 67,091, with the largest town by population being Kapaʻa.
Etymology and language
Hawaiian narrative indicates the name's origin in the legend of Hawaiʻiloa—the Polynesian navigator attributed with discovery of the Hawaiian Islands. The story relates how he named the island of Kauaʻi after a favorite son; a possible translation of Kauaʻi is "place around the neck", meaning how a father would carry a favorite child. Another possible translation is "food season".

Remember. Return. Relive the epic adventure that was “Jurassic Park” as I visit the film locations on the island of Kauai, Hawaii more than 20 years later. This prehistoric short film is for dinosaur and movie lovers everywhere. "Jurassic Park" was the first movie to make dinosaurs believable. It was groundbreaking in its special effects in 1993, and instantly became another Steven Spielberg classic.
This video (filmed March 2015) is a great visual reference tool if you are planning a trip to the island. Footage for this film was shot from an airbus, a helicopter, a boat, and on foot. Some of the film locations can be challenging to access because of dangerous situations, particularly the dense rainforest to see the Jurassic Park gate. I recommend hiring an experienced guide… And watch out for Velociraptors! Oh yea, don't forget to watch the BONUS FEATURE at the end. For more adventures visit www.jimedhardaway.com

Just returned from a fantastic trip to Kauai, Hawaii. Swam, snorkeled, and hiked all across this beautiful piece of paradise. One of the best beaches I visited was Poipu Beach (Poʻipū), southern Kauai. The sheer number of fish was astounding and the calm waters at the time made for very relaxing snorkeling.
You will notice there isn't quite as much active coral as on other island beaches, however, the number of fish made up for it. Initially, it was little cloudy, hence the darker water, but it cleared up quickly. Please don't touch the coral or feed the fish here, leave no trace and respect the water!

Michael Fleiss, creator of the hit ABC television series “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette,” is the buyer of Julia Roberts’ Hawaii oceanfront estate, Pacific Business News has learned.
