MARCH 21 - HANDS AGAINST DISCRIMINATION - HANDS AGAINST HATE
A message from MAGENTA FOUNDATION for the International Day Against Racism.
Uniting a group of artists, Magenta Foundation combines 5 arts from 3 countries in a 3-minute video using 2 hands to express 1 message against discrimination.
On Saturday, the 21st of March 2015, the International Day against Racism, we release "HANDS against discrimination", a poetic video with a message against hate.
Created by Sara Toscano (PT) the project puts together the talents of the poet Thomas Tsalapatis (GR), the composer Manos Athanasiadis (GR), the singer Katerina Kozadinou (GR/ PL), the director Stelios Mavrogiannis (GR), the designer Katerina Pappou (GR) and the photographer Alexandre Cabrita (PT).
By combating hate primarily on and through the Internet, we realise how discrimination and hatred can take form from the tips of our fingers, but also how small gestures and actions can make a difference in the lives of others.
What we hope with this video is to urge individuals and communities to join hands in the struggle against racism, antisemitism, intolerance, and all other forms of hate, putting hands into action in order to build diverse, cohesive and peaceful societies.
The project was funded by donations of people from around the world through the crowdfunding platform PPL.

The Internet Centre Anti Racism Europe (ICARE) is the information disseminator for the European NGO-community working in the fields of anti-discrimination, Human Rights, antisemitism, diversity and migration, with a focus on anti-racism. ICARE is a NGO community networking system, an environment where large and small organizations can work on local, national, regional and international issues. ICARE started in 1999 to inform the (European) NGOs and facilitate discussion about the UN WCAR and the preparatory process.
The purpose of ICARE is the democratic, non-violent empowerment of Human Rights and antiracism work by offering information and reporting on events taking place, by facilitating communication, advocacy, campaigns and actions and by stimulating intersectional and international co-operation of NGOs.
ICARE is a Magenta Foundation project.
Why ICARE.TO? 'TO' is the Top-Level domain name for the Kingdom of Tonga in the Pacific Ocean. We registered icare.to since it has a nice ring to it. 'I care too', as opposed to 'I don't give a ....'
