This is a short movie I made for a group project for my English class. It is a documentary about the various levels of Hell to fit the sins, as described by 14th century poet Dante Alighieri.

Dante's Inferno è il nuovo action game ispirato alla Divina Commedia di Dante Alighieri e in sviluppo presso gli studi EA.
Electonic Arts ha in particolare confermato che lo studio che si occuperà del gioco è EA Redwood Shores, ossia lo stesso dellottimo Dead Space, e che la visuale di gioco sarà in terza persona.
Il filmato offre un altro assaggio di quello che potremo vedere nella forma finale del gioco.

Marathon-Lesung des Fegefeuers aus der Göttlichen Komödie von Dante Aligheri. Es lesen 33 Stimmen aus Politik, Wissenschaft, Kunst und Kultur (auf Italienisch und Deutsch mit zweisprachigen Übertiteln).
Nach dem großen Erfolg der Marathon-Lesung aus Dantes Divina Commedia – dem Vortrag des gesamten Inferno – im vergangenen Jahr geht 2015, zum 750. Geburtstag von Dante Alighieri, die Reise weiter: 33 Stimmen aus Politik, Kunst und Kultur lesen den zweiten Teil der Göttlichen Komödie – das Fegefeuer. Wir werden auf den Berg der Läuterung geführt, auf dessen Terrassen die Seelen Verirrungen der Geschichte, Politik und Lebensführung aufarbeiten. Wie schon im Inferno richten sich auch hier Kritik und Reflexion auf die irdischen Verhältnisse zu Dantes Zeit – die in vieler Hinsicht den heutigen bestürzend ähneln. Im Unterschied zur harschen Welt des Inferno ist jedoch der Läuterungsberg ein Reich der Zwischentöne, der subtilen Farben und Klänge. Und auf dem Gipfel des Berges, im Irdischen Paradies, wird Dante seiner Jugendliebe Beatrice wieder begegnen.

Mein Dante – la maratona continua: Maratona di lettura del Purgatorio della Divina Commedia di Dante Alighieri con 33 voci provenienti dagli ambiti della politica, dell’arte e della cultura, in italiano e in tedesco, con i sopratitoli in entrambe le lingue.
Dopo il grande successo della lettura dell’intera cantica dell’Inferno dalla Divina Commedia di Dante nell’anno scorso, nel 2015, in occasione del 750esimo anniversario della nascita del grande poeta, continua il viaggio. La seconda parte della sua Commedia ci conduce sul monte della purificazione, sulle cui cornici le anime smarrite della storia rielaborano la loro politica e condotta di vita. Come già nell’Inferno, la critica e la riflessione fanno riferimento ancora una volta alla situazione terrena al tempo di Dante, che da molti punti di vista ricorda in maniera sconcertante la situazione odierna. Diversamente dall’aspro mondo dell’Inferno, il monte della purificazione è, tuttavia, un regno fatto di mezzi toni, di colori e rumori delicati. Durante degli Alighieri, mononymously referred to as Dante (UK 
/ˈdænti/, US /ˈdɑːnteɪ/; Italian: [ˈdante]; c1265–1321), was an Italian poet, prose writer, literary theorist, moral philosopher, and political thinker. He is best known for the monumental epic poem Commedia, later named La divina commedia (Divine Comedy), considered the greatest literary work composed in the Italian language and a masterpiece of world literature.
In Italy he is known as il Sommo Poeta ("the Supreme Poet") or just il Poeta. Dante, Petrarch, and Boccaccio are also known as "the three fountains" or "the three crowns". Dante is also called the "Father of the Italian language".
Dante was born in Florence, Italy. The exact date of Dante's birth is unknown, although it is generally believed to be around 1265. This can be deduced from autobiographic allusions in La Divina Commedia, "the Inferno" (Halfway through the journey we are living, implying that Dante was around 35 years old, as the average lifespan according to the Bible (Psalms 89:10, Vulgate) is 70 years; and as the imaginary travel took place in 1300, Dante must have been born around 1265). Some verses of the Paradiso section of the Divine Comedy also provide a possible clue that he was born under the sign of Gemini: "As I revolved with the eternal twins, I saw revealed from hills to river outlets, the threshing-floor that makes us so ferocious" (XXII 151-154). In 1265 the Sun was in Gemini approximately during the period of May 11 to June 11.

Dante's Inferno: A Trip Through Hell
This is a short movie I made for a group project for my English class. It is a documentary about the various levels of Hell to fit the sins, as described by 14th century poet Dante Alighieri. Credits: Robbie- Writing and assembling the movie, interview role Kervyn- Narratives, interview role Carl- Costumes, interview role Please note that none of the above interviews actually exist in the movie. Although we filmed them, the framerate was for some reason poor; as such, we decided to leave them out. Pictures were found from various Google searches... another major source was Dante Worlds at http://danteworlds.laits.utexas.edu/ Due to equipment malfunction, our tool of necessity for recording the narrative was an iPod mic... the audio is a bit garbled at times, especially at the beginning... -

Nach dem großen Erfolg der Marathon-Lesung aus Dantes Divina Commedia – dem Vortrag des gesamten Inferno – im vergangenen Jahr geht 2015, zum 750. Geburtstag von Dante Alighieri, die Reise weiter: 33 Stimmen aus Politik, Kunst und Kultur lesen den zweiten Teil der Göttlichen Komödie – das Fegefeuer. Wir werden auf den Berg der Läuterung geführt, auf dessen Terrassen die Seelen Verirrungen der Geschichte, Politik und Lebensführung aufarbeiten. Wie schon im Inferno richten sich auch hier Kritik und Reflexion auf die irdischen Verhältnisse zu Dantes Zeit – die in vieler Hinsicht den heutigen bestürzend ähneln. Im Unterschied zur harschen Welt des Inferno ist jedoch der Läuterungsberg ein Reich der Zwischentöne, der subtilen Farben und Klänge. Und auf dem Gipfel des Berges, im Irdischen Paradies, wird Dante seiner Jugendliebe Beatrice wieder begegnen.

Nell’ambito della XV Settimana della lingua italiana nel mondo
Mein Dante – la maratona continua: Maratona di lettura del Purgatorio della Divina Commedia di Dante Alighieri con 33 voci provenienti dagli ambiti della politica, dell’arte e della cultura, in italiano e in tedesco, con i sopratitoli in entrambe le lingue.
Dopo il grande successo della lettura dell’intera cantica dell’Inferno dalla Divina Commedia di Dante nell’anno scorso, nel 2015, in occasione del 750esimo anniversario della nascita del grande poeta, continua il viaggio. La seconda parte della sua Commedia ci conduce sul monte della purificazione, sulle cui cornici le anime smarrite della storia rielaborano la loro politica e condotta di vita. Come già nell’Inferno, la critica e la riflessione fanno riferimento ancora una volta alla situazione terrena al tempo di Dante, che da molti punti di vista ricorda in maniera sconcertante la situazione odierna. Diversamente dall’aspro mondo dell’Inferno, il monte della purificazione è, tuttavia, un regno fatto di mezzi toni, di colori e rumori delicati. Sulla vetta del monte, nel Paradiso terrestre, Dante incontrerà di nuovo il suo amore di gioventù: Beatrice.

Im Rahmen der 15. Woche der Italienischen Sprache in der Welt
Marathon-Lesung des Fegefeuers aus der Göttlichen Komödie von Dante Aligheri. Es lesen 33 Stimmen aus Politik, Wissenschaft, Kunst und Kultur (auf Italienisch und Deutsch mit zweisprachigen Übertiteln).
Nach dem großen Erfolg der Marathon-Lesung aus Dantes Divina Commedia – dem Vortrag des gesamten Inferno – im vergangenen Jahr geht 2015, zum 750. Geburtstag von Dante Alighieri, die Reise weiter: 33 Stimmen aus Politik, Kunst und Kultur lesen den zweiten Teil der Göttlichen Komödie – das Fegefeuer. Wir werden auf den Berg der Läuterung geführt, auf dessen Terrassen die Seelen Verirrungen der Geschichte, Politik und Lebensführung aufarbeiten. Wie schon im Inferno richten sich auch hier Kritik und Reflexion auf die irdischen Verhältnisse zu Dantes Zeit – die in vieler Hinsicht den heutigen bestürzend ähneln. Im Unterschied zur harschen Welt des Inferno ist jedoch der Läuterungsberg ein Reich der Zwischentöne, der subtilen Farben und Klänge. Und auf dem Gipfel des Berges, im Irdischen Paradies, wird Dante seiner Jugendliebe Beatrice wieder begegnen.

Nell’ambito della XV Settimana della lingua italiana nel mondo
Mein Dante – la maratona continua: Maratona di lettura del Purgatorio della Divina Commedia di Dante Alighieri con 33 voci provenienti dagli ambiti della politica, dell’arte e della cultura, in italiano e in tedesco, con i sopratitoli in entrambe le lingue.
Dopo il grande successo della lettura dell’intera cantica dell’Inferno dalla Divina Commedia di Dante nell’anno scorso, nel 2015, in occasione del 750esimo anniversario della nascita del grande poeta, continua il viaggio. La seconda parte della sua Commedia ci conduce sul monte della purificazione, sulle cui cornici le anime smarrite della storia rielaborano la loro politica e condotta di vita. Come già nell’Inferno, la critica e la riflessione fanno riferimento ancora una volta alla situazione terrena al tempo di Dante, che da molti punti di vista ricorda in maniera sconcertante la situazione odierna. Diversamente dall’aspro mondo dell’Inferno, il monte della purificazione è, tuttavia, un regno fatto di mezzi toni, di colori e rumori delicati. Sulla vetta del monte, nel Paradiso terrestre, Dante incontrerà di nuovo il suo amore di gioventù: Beatrice.

Sin da giovane manifesta una forte vocazione per la poesia, che approfondirà grazie alla frequentazione dei poeti Guido Cavalcanti e Brunetto Latini: quest'ultimo gli infonderà la coscienza etico-politica che contraddistinguerà la sua opera.
La giovinezza di Dante è segnata dal casto amore per una donna, storicamente identificabile con Beatrice Portinari, detta Bice, figlia di Folco Portinari, un ricco banchiere. Negli anni che seguono la morte dell'amata (1290), si dedica alla scrittura della Vita Nuova, ricordo e celebrazione del suo amore perduto.
Secondo la consuetudine dell'epoca, nel 1295, sposa la donna a cui era già stato vincolato all'età di 12 anni, Gemma di Manetto Donati, dalla quale ebbe quattro figli. Dante partecipa assiduamente alla vita politica di Firenze: nel 1300 ricopre la suprema carica del priorato. Si schiera coi guelfi bianchi, contrari all'ingerenza papale nella politica cittadina: in Papa Bonifacio VIII, Dante vede l'esemplificazione della decadenza morale e spirituale della Chiesa, e nella Divina Commedia non perde occasione di esprimere il proprio disprezzo nei suoi confronti. Nel 1301, in seguito alla vittoria della fazione avversa dei guelfi neri, il poeta viene condannato all'esilio. Non rivedrà mai più la sua città natale.
Inizia così per Dante un lungo periodo di pellegrinaggi da una corte italiana all'altra. È un momento doloroso, ma prolifico dal punto di vista artistico. Nel 1305, comincia la stesura del De vulgari eloquentia, in cui difende l'uso della lingua volgare nella letteratura, come mezzo per la diffusione del sapere anche tra quegli strati sociali che non conoscevano il latino, appannaggio solo dei "litterati".
Dante prosegue la sua opera di divulgazione con il Convivio, scritto tra il 1304 e il 1307, una sorta di compendio di saperi in volgare fiorentino. Tra il 1310 e il 1313 si dedica al De Monarchia, dove affronta uno degli argomenti più controversi del suo tempo: il difficile rapporto tra potere papale e imperiale.
Nel 1321, Dante termina la composizione della sua opera più celebre: la Divina Commedia, resoconto di un viaggio allegorico di salvezza spirituale, nonché fedele specchio della realtà politica e sociale dell'epoca. Dante morì lo stesso anno, poco dopo la conclusione del suo capolavoro.
