A member of parliament (MP) is the representative of the voters to a parliament. In many countries with bicameral parliaments, this category includes specifically members of the lower house, as upper houses often have a different title, such as senate, and thus also have different titles for its members, such as senator.
Members of parliament tend to form parliamentary groups (also called parliamentary parties) with members of the same political party.
The Westminster system is a democratic parliamentary system of government modelled after the politics of the United Kingdom. This term comes from the Palace of Westminster, the seat of the Parliament of the United Kingdom.
A member of parliament is a member of the House of Representatives, the lower house of the Commonwealth (federal) parliament. Members may use "MP" after their names; "MHR" is not used, although it was used as a post-nominal in the past. A member of the upper house of the Commonwealth parliament, the Senate, is known as a "Senator".
David William Donald Cameron (/ˈkæmᵊrən/; born 9 October 1966) is an English politician who has served as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom since 2010, as Leader of the Conservative Party since 2005 and as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Witney since 2001.
Cameron studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) at Brasenose College, Oxford. He then joined the Conservative Research Department and became special adviser, first to Norman Lamont and then to Michael Howard. He was Director of Corporate Affairs at Carlton Communications for seven years. Cameron first stood for Parliament in Stafford in 1997. He ran on a Eurosceptic platform, breaking with his party's then-policy by opposing British membership of the single European currency, and was defeated by a swing close to the national average. He was first elected to Parliament in the 2001 general election for the Oxfordshire constituency of Witney. He was promoted to the Opposition front bench two years later and rose rapidly to become head of policy co-ordination during the 2005 general election campaign. With a public image of a youthful, moderate candidate who would appeal to young voters, he won the Conservative leadership election in 2005.

In the House of Commons, on 18 September 2012, MP Paul Flynn was kicked out of the UK parliament for telling the defence secretary Phillip Hammond that he was using British soldiers as human shields for ministers' reputations by sending them to die in vain in a war which was lost. He compared Hammond and other government ministers to politicians in the First World War "who lied and soldiers died." Paul Flynn refused to withdraw the accusation of lying and was banned from the House of Commons for five days.

Turkish authorities arrested leaders of the country's pro-Kurdish opposition party during a terrorism probe. According to reports, the co-leaders of Turkey's Peoples' Democratic Party have been jailed pending a trial. Ten other lawmakers from the party were also detained during the overnight raids, but some have since been released. The development has drawn criticism from Europe and the United Nations. The UN's human rights office stated the arrest of elected members of the country's parliament goes beyond what is permissible. But Prime Minister Binali Yildirim told reporters that Turkey is a nation of laws, and politics cannot be a shield for committing crimes. http://feeds.reuters.com/~r/reuters/topNews/~3/5Lc99ItWcc8/us-turkey-security-kurds-idUSKBN12Y2XA http://www.wochit.com This vi...

Get your free audiobook or ebook: http://yazz.space/sabk/35/en/B000QXD8G4/info This wide-ranging study, by one of the Uk's leading scholars of British politics, presents a fascinating picture of the role of the Mp during the last 150 years. It looks at the three major roles of backbench Mps the partisan role, the constituency role, and the scrutiny role. Rush argues that balance between them has changes significantly and the conflict between the Mp as a partisan and as a check on the government creates a dilemma at the heart of parliamentary government.
