Here's the problem with SteamOS - it can't play all of your Steam games. Why? Because the games need to be ported over to Linux in order to be compatible. Many games, well over a thousand, are. But many popular games like GTA V, Metal Gear Solid, Fallout 4, etc. are not. And many others won't be sold through Steam like games from EA and other developers with their own app stores.
Game library issues aside this is a very capable and relatively powerful small gaming PC. It packs the equivalent of an Nvidia 860M GPU, and allows for upgrading of its processor, RAM, and hard drive. The GPU is a custom design for Alienware and is not upgradeable.
The system also comes with the Steam controller which is beginning to make more sense to me now.
Like any console system the success or failure of this is going to ride on its library. Without AAA titles this is going to be a tough sell to gamers looking to move PC gaming to their living room. The good news is that since this is a regular PC it won't be hard to install Windows on here to get access to that broader library.

1) REBOOT OR RESTART YOUR COMPUTER
- Turn off and turn back on your computer, it's simple and it works.
2) TOO MANY PROGRAMS ARE RUNNING AT STARTUP
- Just go ahead and open up the task manager by either pressing control, alt delete and selecting the task manager, or by right clicking on the task bar, and selecting the task manager. From here make sure that you click on the more details button and it will reveal many more options. Now go ahead and click on the startup tab, and from here you can go ahead and disable all the programs that you don't want to start when you boot up your computer.
3) YOU'RE INFECTED WITH MALWARE & OR A VIRUS
- Download a program called malwarebytes, there is a free version and a paid version but the free version does the job as well. Just go ahead and do a full scan of your computer and get rid of any malware that is hidden.

4) YOUR COMPUTER LIKE THE BEST QUALITY OVER PERFORMANCE
- Type "Performance" into the Start Menu and click "Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows". Here, you can disable individual visual effects.
5) YOUR HARD DRIVE OR SSD (solid state drive) IS ALMOST FULL
- Delete all unnecessary programs and files to clear up as much space as possible. You can use CCleaner or the uninstall program on windows.

6) YOU NEED TO UPGRADE YOUR HARDWARE
- Upgrade your HDD (hard drive) to an SSD (solid state drive), upgrade your ram, upgrade your graphics card, upgrade your cpu etc.
7) RE-INSTALL WINDOWS OS
- Factory reset your computer so that you can do a fresh install of windows and remove any problems that have been occurring.

Solid
Solid is one of the four fundamental states of matter (the others being liquid, gas, and plasma). It is characterized by structural rigidity and resistance to changes of shape or volume. Unlike a liquid, a solid object does not flow to take on the shape of its container, nor does it expand to fill the entire volume available to it like a gas does. Steam
Steam is water in the gas phase, which is formed when water boils. Steam is invisible; however, "steam" often refers to wet steam, the visible mist or aerosol of water droplets formed as this water vapor condenses. At lower pressures, such as in the upper atmosphere or at the top of high mountains, water boils at a lower temperature than the nominal 100 °C (212 °F) at standard temperature and pressure. If heated further it becomes superheated steam.
The enthalpy of vaporization is the energy required to turn water into the gaseous form when it increases in volume by 1,700 times at standard temperature and pressure; this change in volume can be converted into mechanical work by steam engines such as reciprocating piston type engines and steam turbines, which are a sub-group of steam engines. Piston type steam engines played a central role to the Industrial Revolution and modern steam turbines are used to generate more than 80% of the world's electricity. If liquid water comes in contact with a very hot surface or depressurizes quickly below its vapor pressure, it can create a steam explosion. Steam explosions have been responsible for many foundry accidents, and may also have been responsible for much of the damage to the plant in the Chernobyl disaster.

Here's the problem with SteamOS - it can't play all of your Steam games. Why? Because the games need to be ported over to Linux in order to be compatible. Many games, well over a thousand, are. Game library issues aside this is a very capable and relatively powerful small gaming PC. It packs the equivalent of an Nvidia 860M GPU, and allows for upgrading of its processor, RAM, and hard drive. The GPU is a custom design for Alienware and is not upgradeable.
The system also comes with the Steam controller which is beginning to make more sense to me now.
Like any console system the success or failure of this is going to ride on its library. Without AAA titles this is going to be a tough sell to gamers looking to move PC gaming to their living room. The good news is that since this is a regular PC it won't be hard to install Windows on here to get access to that broader library.

Here's the problem with SteamOS - it can't play all of your Steam games. Why? Because the games need to be ported over to Linux in order to be compatible. Many games, well over a thousand, are. But many popular games like GTA V, Metal Gear Solid, Fallout 4, etc. are not. And many others won't be sold through Steam like games from EA and other developers with their own app stores.

- Just go ahead and open up the task manager by either pressing control, alt delete and selecting the task manager, or by right clicking on the task bar, and selecting the task manager. From here make sure that you click on the more details button and it will reveal many more options. Now go ahead and click on the startup tab, and from here you can go ahead and disable all the programs that you don't want to start when you boot up your computer.
3) YOU'RE INFECTED WITH MALWARE & OR A VIRUS
- Download a program called malwarebytes, there is a free version and a paid version but the free version does the job as well. Just go ahead and do a full scan of your computer and get rid of any malware that is hidden.

4) YOUR COMPUTER LIKE THE BEST QUALITY OVER PERFORMANCE
- Type "Performance" into the Start Menu and click "Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows". Here, you can disable individual visual effects.

- Delete all unnecessary programs and files to clear up as much space as possible. You can use CCleaner or the uninstall program on windows.

Here's the problem with SteamOS - it can't play all of your Steam games. Why? Because the games need to be ported over to Linux in order to be compatible. Many games, well over a thousand, are. But many popular games like GTA V, Metal Gear Solid, Fallout 4, etc. are not. And many others won't be sold through Steam like games from EA and other developers with their own app stores.
Game library issues aside this is a very capable and relatively powerful small gaming PC. It packs the equivalent of an Nvidia 860M GPU, and allows for upgrading of its processor, RAM, and hard drive. The GPU is a custom design for Alienware and is not upgradeable.
The system also comes with the Steam controller which is beginning to make more sense to me now.
Like any console system the success or failure of this is going to ride on its library. Without AAA titles this is going to be a tough sell to gamers looking to move PC gaming to their living room. The good news is that since this is a regular PC it won't be hard to install Windows on here to get access to that broader library.
