The Olivet Discourse or Olivet prophecy is a biblical passage found in the Synoptic Gospels in Mark 13, Matthew 24, Luke 21. It is also known as the "Little Apocalypse" because it includes the use of apocalyptic language, and it includes Jesus' warning to his followers that they will suffer tribulation and persecution before the ultimate triumph of the Kingdom of God. The Olivet discourse is the last of the Five Discourses of Matthew and occurs just before the narrative of Jesus' passion beginning with the Anointing of Jesus. In the Gospels of Matthew and Mark, Jesus spoke this discourse to his disciples privately on the Mount of Olives, opposite the Temple. In Luke's Gospel, Jesus taught over a period of time in the Temple and stayed at night on the Mount of Olives.
The discourse is widely believed by scholars to contain material delivered on a variety of occasions.
Some believe the passage largely refers to the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem and the events leading up to it, although there are also references to events following this. This is one reason why scholars date the Gospel of Mark to the period just before, or just after, the events of the year 70.
Matthew may refer to:
"Son of man" is a phrase used in the Hebrew Bible, various apocalyptic works of the intertestamental period, and in the Greek New Testament. In the indefinite form ("son of man", "one like a son of man") used in the Hebrew Bible and intertestamental literature it is a form of address, or contrasts human beings against God, or signifies an eschatological figure due to come at the end of history. The New Testament uses the earlier indefinite form while introducing a novel definite form, "the son of man."
The Hebrew expression "son of man" (בן–אדם, ben-'adam) appears 107 times in the Hebrew Bible, the majority (93 times) in the Book of Ezekiel. It is used in three main ways: as a form of address (Ezekiel); to contrast the lowly status of humanity against the permanence and exulted dignity of God and the angels (Book of Numbers 23:19, Psalm 8:4); and as a future eschatological figure whose coming will signal the end of history and the time of God's judgement (Daniel 8:17).
"Chapter 24" is the title of a song from Pink Floyd's 1967 album The Piper at the Gates of Dawn. This song was one of several to be considered for the band's "best of" album, Echoes: The Best of Pink Floyd. It was the second song recorded for the album.
It was written by Syd Barrett and its lyrics are inspired by text from chapter 24 of the ancient Chinese tome I Ching (The Book of Changes).
The translation Barrett referenced is not known, but phrases from the lyric can be found in the Richard Wilhelm and Baynes translation of 1950, and the Legge translation of 1899. The former is more poetic, but the latter has greater detail. Chapter 24 explains the significance of the Fû (复, means "returning") hexagram.
3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. Mat 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. 6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. Mat 24:8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

Missionary Evangelist Robert Breaker shows from the word of God that the only biblical view of scriptures is the PRE-TRIBULATION Rapture of the Church, as he RIGHTLY DIVIDES the word of Truth, and then reads Matthew 24, being careful to show it in it's proper context, proving that it's written to JEWS and NOT to the Church. This video does well to prove that the Mid-Tribulation (or Pre-Wrath) Rapture Theory is a FALSE BIBLICAL TEACHING, and we were warned by the apostle Paul himself not to swallow such a teaching.
Matthew Chapter 24: 1And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. 2And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. 3And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? 4And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. 6And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is...
A fellow named Joey Richter asked about what Jesus meant when He stated that "This generation will not pass away..." in Matthew 24:34, so I decided to make a short video about it. It's quite simple if you read the entire chapter in context. http://CrossTheBorder.org/get-the-book The Rapture Will Be Cancelled Matthew chapter twenty-four is perhaps one of the most misunderstood prophetic passages in the Bible. Jesus disciples are showing him the buildings of the temple and Jesus prophesies their destruction: “See ye not all these things...there shall not be left here one stone upon another...” Matthew records two questions asked of Jesus' disciples when they reach the Mount of Olives. The first question is differentiated by the phrase, “these things” and the author uses this key throughout the text to separate the two answers. I have highlighted the first question and its direct answers in yellow-round box, the second in blue-square box. “These things” also begs the question, what things? The answer is in the previous ...

When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains. Matthew 24:15, 16. {Mar 180.1} The time is not far distant, when, like the early disciples, we shall be forced to seek a refuge in desolate and solitary places. As the siege of Jerusalem by the Roman armies was the signal for flight to the Judean Christians, so the assumption of power on the part of our nation [the United States] in the decree enforcing the papal sabbath will be a warning to us. It will then be time to leave the large cities, preparatory to leaving the smaller ones for retired...

Oh I believe the time is coming when the Lord will come again
I believe the end is closer every day
Let's be ready for the judgement when we look upon his face
For he tells us in his word to watch and pray
We are living surely living in the days he speaks about
I believe the end is near in every door
So let's be ready for his coming let us meet him with a shout
And believe today in Matthew 24
While upon the Mount of Olives his disciples came to him
Saying tell us when these things are going to be
Jesus answered be ye watching let each one be free from sin
And take heed no man shall ever you deceive
We are living surely living...
