This just might be the finest bit of singletrack I’ve ridden so far! (but then again, every time I try some new singletrack in the Sierras I say that).
My very first trip to Foresthill, CA. What a blast.
This is trail 6, done CCW (from what I saw, and what I’ve heard, clockwise is a bit easier)
It rained the day before, so this 1st part of the trail was perfect, but the next few parts down in the deep dark canyon were very, very slimy (I’ll try to load up that video next).

Foresthill, California
Foresthill is a census-designated place (CDP) in Placer County, California, United States. It is part of the Sacramento–Arden-Arcade–Roseville Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 1,483 at the 2010 census, down from 1,791 at the 2000 census.
History
Foresthill is located on a broad ridge between the North and Middle Forks of the American River on the gold-bearing gravel bed of an ancient river. In the spring of 1850, miners came to the Forest Hill Divide in large numbers. There was one route from Auburn through Yankee Jim's and one from Coloma. At the junction of these trails, the Forest House hotel and trading post was built. The height of mining activity in Foresthill began in 1853 after a winter landslide at the head of Jenny Lind Canyon exposed numerous nuggets of gold. The Jenny Lind mine produced about $2,500 of gold a day for a while, up to a total output over $1 million by 1880. The combined production of all the mines in the Forest Hill area was estimated at $10 million by 1868 with gold selling for $16 an ounce. In the 1860s, there were about 125,000 feet (38,000 m) of hard-rock tunnels dug into the hillsides in, around and under Foresthill. By 1857, this area had become an important center for trade among the many gold camps on the divide. In 1862, the Hardy-Kennedy building was erected - the first fireproof store in Foresthill. This building, now known as the Langstaff building, is still being used by the merchants of Foresthill. By 1880, Foresthill was one of the largest towns in Placer County. The town had an 80-foot (24 m) wide main street befitting such an important place.

Bushwhacking Hiking In The Tahoe National Forest on Justin Birthday Part 1 of the trip to the cabin. Tahoe National Forest is a U.S. National Forest located in the state of California, northwest of Lake Tahoe. It includes the 8,587-foot (2,617 m) peak of Sierra Buttes, near Sierra City, which has views of Mount Lassen and Mount Shasta. It is located in parts of six counties. In descending order of forestland area they are Sierra, Placer, Nevada, Yuba, Plumas, and El Dorado counties. (The El Dorado County portion is very tiny, at only four acres.) The forest has a total area of 871,495 acres (1,361.71 sq mi, or 3,526.82 km2). Its headquarters is in Nevada City, California. There are local ranger district offices in Camptonville, Foresthill, Sierraville, and Truckee.

Ride on the "Ranch Road Trail" in Mammoth Bar OHV park in Auburn, CA. This trail starts on Forresthill Road 1/2 mile up from Clementine Lake Road on the Right Hand Side and continues down to the lower parking lot of Mammoth Bar OHV Trail Difficultly Rating: 7 of 10 - This trail consists of a fairly fast dissent with loose rocks, dusty corners and high speed sections. i bought my GoPro cam a few years ago because i thought it would be good for the extreme bass (car stereo BASS, not fish) that i usually film......it wasnt. Its made more for extreme sports, not extreme sound pressure created by woofers. I decided to give my buddy Matt the camera for the day and told him to go make me some video riding his mountain bike down some trails. He lives in Auburn so he took it to the ravine which is not to far from his house. On Jan. 24, 1848, James Marshall discovered gold at Sutter's Mill in Coloma California, starting the California Gold Rush.
Today, you can learn about Gold Rush history and lore at the Marshall Gold Discovery State Park, a ghost town with several living history exhibits and restored buildings. You can even view the original James Marshall cabin, located on the hills above Church Street.
After making his money in gold, miner James Marshall turned to winemaking, winning a medal at the 1860 county fair. Today El Dorado wine country continues his tradition, crafting delicious wines throughout Placerville California.
El Dorado County accommodations are mostly mom-and-pop operations. For an authentic Gold Country hotel, check out the American River Inn, once known as the American Hotel. Located in Georgetown California, the hotel was built in 1853 as a miner's boarding house, and is a popular Victorian B&B; today. This haunted California hotel is said to be graced by the spirit of Oscar, a miner who lost his lady love here many years ago.

I decided to give my buddy Matt the camera for the day and told him to go make me some video riding his mountain bike down some trails. He lives in Auburn so he took it to the ravine which is not to far from his house. I have ridden this trail a few times and there are a few spots you definitely do not want to fall from.
