Dermot Walsh (10 September 1924 – 26 June 2002) was an Irish stage, film and television actor, known for portraying King Richard the Lionheart in the 1962 television series Richard the Lionheart.
Born in Dublin, Walsh was the son of a journalist and a civil servant. He attended St Mary's College, Rathmines, and on the wishes of his parents, read Law at University College Dublin. Walsh studied acting at the Abbey Theatre School and spent three years with Lord Longford's repertory company at the Gate Theatre, working as an assistant stage hand.
In 1945 Walsh moved to England and briefly joined the Croydon Repertory. Upon his return to Dublin he was spotted by a talent scout from the Rank Organisation. This led to parts in Bedelia, Hungry Hill and The Mark of Cain, and the beginning of Walsh's career in film. He appeared in seven films as a leading man, before returning to the theatre. Walsh later resumed his film career in a series of B Movies. He appeared in over forty films made for film and a hundred for television, making his final film appearance in 1983.
Elisabeth Dermot Walsh (born Elisabeth Clare Louise Walsh; 15 September 1974) is an English actress, known for portraying Elizabeth in Falling for a Dancer and Dr Zara Carmichael in Doctors.
Born in Merton, Surrey, Walsh is the daughter of Irish actor Dermot Walsh (1924–2002) and his third wife, English actress Elisabeth Madeleine Annear (1944–1993). She has a sister, Olivia, and, from her father's previous marriages, a half-sister, Sally, and a half-brother, Michael.
She attended West Heath School, and later trained at RADA. She is the fifth generation to act in her family.
Walsh made her television debut in the television film Falling for a Dancer. She has also appeared in Love in a Cold Climate, Unfinished Business, Midsomer Murders and Holby City. She played the lead role of Elinor Carlisle in the 2003 ITV adaptation of Agatha Christie's Sad Cypress. In 2009 she joined the regular cast of BBC soap opera Doctors, playing Dr Zara Carmichael. She had a guest role in an episode of Love Soup.
Dr. Zara Carmichael MBBS BSc MD FRCS (born Alex Grey) is a fictional character in the BBC soap opera Doctors, played by Elisabeth Dermot-Walsh. Zara was introduced as the new general practitioner at The Mill. She made her first appearance on 4 June 2009 and remained a regular until April 2012 when Dermot-Walsh left to go on maternity leave, she returned for a brief appearance in December 2012 before returning full-time in February 2013 until September 2015 when Dermot-Walsh left again to go on maternity leave.
Since her arrival the character has been involved in a number of different storylines including being kidnapped and having an affair with Jack Hollins (Nicolas Woodman), pregnancy and birth of son Joe Carmichael as well as suffering with post-natal depression and her on and off relationship with Daniel Granger (Matthew Chambers).
Zara first appeared in June 2009 when Heston Carter (Owen Brenman), Julia Parsons (Diane Keen) and Lily Hassan (Seeta Indrani) were interviewing for a new GP. Zara then later arrived at The Mill and was introduced, while Melody Bell (Elizabeth Bower)'s leaving party was in full swing. Daniel Granger (Matthew Chambers) had been trying to impress Zara. She asked him out for drink which he turned down. But since then he was keen to impress her again, and they continuously kept flirting with each other. Zara later turned up at Daniel's apartment, she then slept with him but ended the relationship right after, stating that they needed to get it out of the way before they could work together.
Sarah Jayne Dunn (born 25 September 1981) is an English actress best known for playing Mandy Richardson in Hollyoaks.
Dunn was born in Leigh and educated at Lowton High School, excelling in drama and performing arts, and a part-time career as a model. When the school changed its name and became a college for sport, Dunn returned to formally open the college.
Dunn first appeared on the Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks on 12 September 1996, walking into the video shop in the forty-third episode. Mandy came into the village at the age of 14 as a "wannabe supermodel" and quickly formed a friendship with Ollie Benson. In 2003, Dunn played a supporting role in the Brookside Unfinished Business. In 2004 Dunn appeared in the fitness DVD Hollyoaks Dance workout with Ali Bastian (Becca Dean) and Jodi Albert (Debbie Dean). Dunn left Hollyoaks as a cast regular in 2006.
Dunn has since returned to Hollyoaks three times. In February 2007 for a two episode stint for the funeral of Mandy's best friend, Becca Dean. She returned in 2008 for six months, leaving in December after the disastrous wedding of Warren Fox (Jamie Lomas) and Louise Summers (Roxanne McKee). In November 2010 Dunn returned to Hollyoaks with a one-year contract alongside Jamie Lomas, leaving in September 2011.
