Impedance is the complex-valued generalization of resistance. It may refer to:
The general notion of the ratio of a sinusoidal voltage to a sinusoidal current is called "impedance". We derive the impedance of a resistor, inductor, and capacitor. The impedance of the inductor and capacitor has a term for frequency, so the impedance of these components depends on frequency.
This is the first video of a short series in which I discuss the basics of electrical impedance from a practical standpoint. In this video, I show how a simple LED power supply circuit can be made more efficient by replacing a resistor with a capacitor. I describe the difference between resistance, reactance, and impedance.
