Businessman and former federal MP Clive Palmer has offloaded a luxury Gold Coast property.

And it appears it traded quickly – with the privately listed Paradise Point property selling within days of going to market.

Mr Palmer sold the property to a business partner Domenic Martino, who is the director of Mr Palmer’s West Australian company Australasian Resources.

Mr Martino paid $1.75 million up front for the house, a bargain considering Mr Palmer paid the same amount for it in 2011. Mr Palmer’s purchase price was also a knock down from the $2.45 million paid by Fred Taplin in 2007.

The waterfront home comes with five bedrooms, six bathrooms, a home theatre and a pontoon.

The same week his mansion sold, Mr Palmer confirmed he was also seeking “expressions of interest” for his corporate headquarters on Queen Street in Brisbane’s CBD.

During his Federal Court grilling over the collapse of Queensland Nickel, Mr Palmer said he was interested in selling Mineralogy House, and he expected it was worth “in the 20 millions, sort of thing”.

Mr Palmer is also still trying to sell off land in a golf course development. The residential lots are 804 square metres or larger, and all front on to the golf course in Port Douglas.

The properties first went to auction in April, and a number remain for sale.
