She makes food and travel TV shows such as When Patrick Met Kylie, The Dolce Vita Diary, When in Rome, When in Florence and Amore Al Dente, which air on TLN Canada, Discovery TLC Asia, TLC Australia, TLC Latin America, Fox Life India, TV2 Norway and other networks in 68 countries. Kylie lands down in Rio and goes to meet her host Fabio, who is part-Japanese, part-Brazilian photographer/surfer. His wandering job allows him to either travel or stay with his parents when he rents his apartment out on Airbnb, welcoming people from all of the world and showing them the beauty and adventure that’s abundant in Rio (if you know where to look). Although his modern apartment is surrounded by soaring high rises and big shopping malls, after a 10-minute drive out of the city, Fabio surprises Kylie with beautiful, wild landscapes, never-ending beaches, and luscious greenery. As they follow the dirt tracks through the jungle and the windy roads that track the coast, chatting and laughing with each other along the way, Kylie makes Fabio stop at a street side shack to pick up some fresh pineapple. It is here where she realizes the kindness and honesty of the local people, as Fabio explains that if you travel away from the touristy areas of Copacabana and Ipanema, you will experience the real people of Rio, where no one is trying to rip you off. After feasting on crab empanadas at a local restaurant, Fabio and Kylie decide to take their leftovers and repay this kindness to someone who may not be as fortunate as them. The adventures don’t end there for Kylie, as she gets a call saying that Fabio has some adventurous Brazilian and German friends who want to hike one of the largest mountains in the world that ends directly in the ocean (Pedra da Gávea). She’s heard rumors that most people are too scared to hike, especially with the predicted storm approaching, but they are not deterred. With positive attitudes and determination, they climb all the way to the top through thick terrain and shear rock faces. The hike allows them all to get lost in their thoughts, taking in their surroundings and appreciate the nature around them. When they get to the top, the forest clears to make way for a breathtaking view over the whole of Rio – showing familiar sights of Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf Mountain. Cooling off in a stunning waterfall, Kylie reflects on the genuine friendship she has made through her adventures in Rio. It is through her travels that Kylie is further inspired to chase her dreams, meeting like minded people like Fabio and his friends who have worked hard and dedicated their lives to exploration, happiness and friendship. You can see from the memos and quotes scribbled on Fabio’s chalkboard at his apartment that his life is inspired by making his dreams happen everyday. By staying with people like Fabio, Kylie has had the opportunity to travel to distant cities around the world and still feel at home, with the amazing company, breathtaking sights and intriguing stories she experiences along the way.
