With a $40 billion drug-trafficking business, several corrupt and violent groups in Mexico have emerged over the years as they attempt to control more money, land, and power. With it comes a natural struggle amongst one another in what's led to countless deaths throughout the country. As members rise, leaders fall, and lives are lost, blood is constantly being shed in a society where murder is synonymous with success. We now present to you, the top 10 horrific Mexican cartel attacks.

Number 10: The San Fernando Massacres
August, 2010: Los Zetas—a notoriously ruthless Mexican drug cartel—intercepts buses trafficking 73 immigrants and executes all but one. They kidnap and slaughter the victims to deprive their rival, The Gulf Cartel, of the reinforcements they sent for. The lone survivor was an Ecuadorian man who was shot at the head but fortunately, the bullet missed his brain. After a shootout with Los Zetas, Mexican military units found the 72 bodies in a mass grave. This 2010 massacre took place along Highway 101 in San Fernando, Mexico and since then has been known as “The Highway of Death.”
Justice for the victims did not come, however, as the power and brutality of Los Zetas is greater than the law enforcement and government control. The Chief of Police investigating the massacre was murdered. Additionally, a year after the first massacre, 193 bodies of victim immigrants were found to have met the same violent fate. In 2011, the drug lord responsible for the massacres, Edgar “El Wache“ Montiel, was captured by Mexican Federal Police along with 80 other members of Los Zetas. “El Wache” Montiel bragged that some of the immigrants were forced to fight each other to death for the cartel members’ amusement.

5 Shocking Displays of Mexican Cartel Violence. The drug cartels in Mexico are destroying the country. They are violent and influential. This is a list to show you there is nothing romantic about these cartels.
5. The Durango Massacres
The northwestern city of Durango endured an explosion of violence in 2011 when, in that year alone over 340 bodies were discovered in mass graves scattered throughout the city. One single grave alone, near an auto body shop, contained 89 bodies. The Los Zetas cartel is believed to be responsible for most of the murders in Durango.
4. The 2011 Monterrey Casino Attack
In August of 2011 a group of four vehicles pulled up to the entranceway of the Casino Royale in Nuevo Leon and opened fire with automatic weapons. Upon ceasing fire, the group dumped gallons of gasoline into the front of the building and set it on fire. The ensuing fire and panic inside resulted in 52 dead civilians, mostly woman. The Los Zetas claim they were merely trying to intimidate the owners of the casino, who had refused to pay the cartel extortion money.
3. The Nuevo Laredo Massacres
In mid April 2012, 14 men, who were presumed to be Los Zetas members, were found chopped into pieces in a van, apparently on the orders of the Sinoloa cartel. And that wasn’t all the Sinola cartel had planned to intimidate their rivals. A few weeks later, a further 23 bodies were discovered. Of the 23 people killed, nine of their bodies were hanged from a bridge to the utter horror of the civilians of Nuevo Laredo. The other 14 corpses were found, decapitated, with their heads stuffed in ice coolers.
2. The Hugo Hernandez Murder
In 2010, then 26-year-old Hugo Hernandez was kidnapped from the city of Sonora. A week later his body was found on a street in the northern city of Los Mochis. He had been chopped up into seven pieces; Hernandez’s torso was found in a plastic container on the street separate from another box that contained his arms, legs and skull. His face was skinned off of his skull and stitched onto a soccer ball in an apparent threat to the Juarez drug cartel.
1. Jesus Ernesto Chavez Castillo
Castillo was a one-man death squad. He has murdered more than 800 people on behalf of the Barrio Aztecas Gang, the deadly enforcers of the Zetas. He even testified that he has killed more but that he lost count. Chavez went so far as to tell jurors that he often beheaded or dismembered his victims as a means to impress his boss.

Number 10: John Wilkes Booth
April 14th, 1865: actor John Wilkes Booth earns his real place and fame in history by assassinating the President of the United States. The Confederate sympathizer and his comrades conspired to kill President Abraham Lincoln along with Vice President Andrew Johnson and Secretary of State William Seward. They aimed to cripple the Union government by taking out three of its primary leaders; thus allowing the Confederates to continue the Civil War and keep slavery in America.
Using a single-shot .44 caliber Derringer, Booth shot Lincoln in the back of his head at the Ford’s Theater in Washington, D.C. Booth escaped on horseback with a broken leg he sustained during the chaos. The paralyzed and bloodied president was transported across the street for emergency medical attention despite doctors’ certainty that he might not make it through the night. Abraham Lincoln died early the next morning.
John Wilkes Booth was sought after by one of the largest manhunts in history; with nearly 10,000 police, detectives, and federal troops involved in his capture. He was eventually found at a Virginia farmhouse on April 26th. When he refused to come out, Union soldiers set the building on fire to force the fugitives out. Booth was shot in the neck and killed in the process while his co-conspirers were apprehended and hung for the assassination of President Lincoln.
Number 9: Marcus Junius Brutus
The assassination of Julius Caesar has earned legendary status in histories and literature all around the world. The power-hungry commander was promoted to Rome’s Dictator for his great military victories. But his attitude and thirst for supremacy created enemies among friends, politicians, and other military leaders. Among the threatened members of the Roman Senate was Marcus Junius Brutus, a powerful military and political figure belonging to one of the oldest families in the Roman Republic. His involvement protected the conspirers from public condemnation and it was he whom Shakespeare bestowed credit for the assassination.
In the Senate House on March 15th, 44 BC, Marcus Brutus and other conspirators surrounded Caesar in “procedural meetings.” The signal to start the attack was for a member to pull on his toga, at which point, the men took turns stabbing Caesar to death. Caesar’s famous last words have gone down in history as “Et tu, Brute?” which translates to “You too, Brutus?” This was a literary emphasis on the betrayal that transpired as his former friend, Brutus, slashed at his hand and thigh with a knife.

Number 5: Inmates attack Prison Gaurd
A shocking video showing dozens of prisoners in Arizona ambushing several correctional officers.
Nearly 30 inmates viciously attacked seven officers at a maximum security prison during a meal in April
The guards were only armed with stun guns and pepper spray.
Footage shows the prisoners jumping to their feet and descending on at least one officer from all corners.
Apparently the inmates got upset when officers were walking through the tables in the cafeteria.
One guard was beaten so badly he didn’t return to work.
A female officer was also hurt in the attack.
Now that is the kind of place I wouldn't want to be in.

Number 4: County Jail fight
The incident took place in January of 2015 when an inmate, who was not previously thought to be dangerous, wandered an empty hallway before seeing the corrections officer sitting alone at his desk.
The unidentified inmate then ran into the room, slamming an automatically locking door behind him before he assaulted the officer, taking away with either his Taser or handgun.
Number 3: Prison Riot
February 23, 2000, riot inside Pelican Bay State Prison. Thirty three inmates were stabbed by other inmates, fifteen inmates were shot by Correctional Officers, and eighty nine weapons were recovered. This was one of California's largest and bloodiest prison riots. Here is the video
Number 2: Knife attack
Surveillance cameras captured the moment every door at a maximum-security jail wing in Florida swung open and released a flock of violent criminals, who ganged up and attacked another inmate with vicious homemade knives.
The inmate was forced to jump over a railing and fall one story to escape his attackers, who are believed to be members of a rival gang in the Miami neighborhood of Liberty City.
The Miami-Dade Corrections Department says it still doesn't know why the security system unlocked and opened every door in the maximum-security wing.

It shows gang members unlocking a door to allow armed men to shoot rivial gang inside.
They killed around 17 people.

Cartel
In economics, a cartel is an agreement between competing firms to control prices or exclude entry of a new competitor in a market. It is a formal organization of sellers or buyers that agree to fix selling prices, purchase prices, or reduce production using a variety of tactics. Cartels usually arise in an oligopolistic industry, where the number of sellers is small or sales are highly concentrated and the products being traded are usually commodities. Cartel members may agree on such matters as setting minimum or target prices (price fixing), reducing total industry output, fixing market shares, allocating customers, allocating territories, bid rigging, establishment of common sales agencies, altering the conditions of sale, or combination of these. The aim of such collusion (also called the cartel agreement) is to increase individual members' profits by reducing competition. If the cartelists do not agree on market shares, they must have a plan to share the extra monopoly profits generated by the cartel.

We now present to you, the top 10 horrific Mexican cartel attacks. Today's topic was requested by Alltime Conspiracies. Number 10: The San Fernando Massacres August, 2010: Los Zetas—a notoriously ruthless Mexican drug cartel—intercepts buses trafficking 73 immigrants and executes all but one. They kidnap and slaughter the victims to deprive their rival, The Gulf Cartel, of the reinforcements they sent for. The lone survivor was an Ecuadorian man who was shot at the head but fortunately, the bullet missed his brain. After a shootout with Los Zetas, Mexican military units found the 72 bodies in a mass grave. This 2010 massacre took place along Highway 101 in San Fernando, Mexico and since then has been known as “The Highway of Death.” Justice for the victims did not come, however, as the power and brutality of Los Zetas is greater than the law enforcement and government control. The Chief of Police investigating the massacre was murdered. Additionally, a year after the first massacre, 193 bodies of victim immigrants were found to have met the same violent fate. In 2011, the drug lord responsible for the massacres, Edgar “El Wache“ Montiel, was captured by Mexican Federal Police along with 80 other members of Los Zetas. “El Wache” Montiel bragged that some of the immigrants were forced to fight each other to death for the cartel members’ amusement. -

5 Shocking Displays of Mexican Cartel Violence. The drug cartels in Mexico are destroying the country. They are violent and influential. This is a list to show you there is nothing romantic about these cartels. 5. The Durango Massacres The northwestern city of Durango endured an explosion of violence in 2011 when, in that year alone over 340 bodies were discovered in mass graves scattered throughout the city. One single grave alone, near an auto body shop, contained 89 bodies. The Los Zetas cartel is believed to be responsible for most of the murders in Durango. 4. The 2011 Monterrey Casino Attack In August of 2011 a group of four vehicles pulled up to the entranceway of the Casino Royale in Nuevo Leon and opened fire with automatic weapons. Upon ceasing fire, the group dumped gallons of gasoline into the front of the building and set it on fire. The ensuing fire and panic inside resulted in 52 dead civilians, mostly woman. The Los Zetas claim they were merely trying to intimidate the owners of the casino, who had refused to pay the cartel extortion money. 3. The Nuevo Laredo Massacres In mid April 2012, 14 men, who were presumed to be Los Zetas members, were found chopped into pieces in a van, apparently on the orders of the Sinoloa cartel. And that wasn’t all the Sinola cartel had planned to intimidate their rivals. A few weeks later, a further 23 bodies were discovered. Of the 23 people killed, nine of their bodies were hanged from a bridge to the utter horror of the civilians of Nuevo Laredo. The other 14 corpses were found, decapitated, with their heads stuffed in ice coolers. 2. The Hugo Hernandez Murder In 2010, then 26-year-old Hugo Hernandez was kidnapped from the city of Sonora. A week later his body was found on a street in the northern city of Los Mochis. He had been chopped up into seven pieces; Hernandez’s torso was found in a plastic container on the street separate from another box that contained his arms, legs and skull. His face was skinned off of his skull and stitched onto a soccer ball in an apparent threat to the Juarez drug cartel. 1. Jesus Ernesto Chavez Castillo Castillo was a one-man death squad. He has murdered more than 800 people on behalf of the Barrio Aztecas Gang, the deadly enforcers of the Zetas. He even testified that he has killed more but that he lost count. Chavez went so far as to tell jurors that he often beheaded or dismembered his victims as a means to impress his boss. Number 10: John Wilkes Booth April 14th, 1865: actor John Wilkes Booth earns his real place and fame in history by assassinating the President of the United States. The Confederate sympathizer and his comrades conspired to kill President Abraham Lincoln along with Vice President Andrew Johnson and Secretary of State William Seward. They aimed to cripple the Union government by taking out three of its primary leaders; thus allowing the Confederates to continue the Civil War and keep slavery in America. Using a single-shot .44 caliber Derringer, Booth shot Lincoln in the back of his head at the Ford’s Theater in Washington, D.C. Booth escaped on horseback with a broken leg he sustained during the chaos. The paralyzed and bloodied president was transported across the street for emergency medical attention despite doctors’ certainty that he might not make it through the night. Abraham Lincoln died early the next morning. John Wilkes Booth was sought after by one of the largest manhunts in history; with nearly 10,000 police, detectives, and federal troops involved in his capture. He was eventually found at a Virginia farmhouse on April 26th. When he refused to come out, Union soldiers set the building on fire to force the fugitives out. Booth was shot in the neck and killed in the process while his co-conspirers were apprehended and hung for the assassination of President Lincoln. Number 9: Marcus Junius Brutus The assassination of Julius Caesar has earned legendary status in histories and literature all around the world. The power-hungry commander was promoted to Rome’s Dictator for his great military victories. But his attitude and thirst for supremacy created enemies among friends, politicians, and other military leaders. Among the threatened members of the Roman Senate was Marcus Junius Brutus, a powerful military and political figure belonging to one of the oldest families in the Roman Republic. His involvement protected the conspirers from public condemnation and it was he whom Shakespeare bestowed credit for the assassination. In the Senate House on March 15th, 44 BC, Marcus Brutus and other conspirators surrounded Caesar in “procedural meetings.” The signal to start the attack was for a member to pull on his toga, at which point, the men took turns stabbing Caesar to death. Caesar’s famous last words have gone down in history as “Et tu, Brute?” which translates to “You too, Brutus?” This was a literary emphasis on the betrayal that transpired as his former friend, Brutus, slashed at his hand and thigh with a knife. -

Transcript: Number 5: Inmates attack Prison Gaurd A shocking video showing dozens of prisoners in Arizona ambushing several correctional officers. Nearly 30 inmates viciously attacked seven officers at a maximum security prison during a meal in April The guards were only armed with stun guns and pepper spray. Footage shows the prisoners jumping to their feet and descending on at least one officer from all corners. Apparently the inmates got upset when officers were walking through the tables in the cafeteria. One guard was beaten so badly he didn’t return to work. A female officer was also hurt in the attack. Now that is the kind of place I wouldn't want to be in. Let's move on Number 4: County Jail fight The incident took place in January of 2015 when an inmate, who was not previously thought to be dangerous, wandered an empty hallway before seeing the corrections officer sitting alone at his desk. The unidentified inmate then ran into the room, slamming an automatically locking door behind him before he assaulted the officer, taking away with either his Taser or handgun. Number 3: Prison Riot February 23, 2000, riot inside Pelican Bay State Prison. Thirty three inmates were stabbed by other inmates, fifteen inmates were shot by Correctional Officers, and eighty nine weapons were recovered. This was one of California's largest and bloodiest prison riots. Here is the video Number 2: Knife attack Surveillance cameras captured the moment every door at a maximum-security jail wing in Florida swung open and released a flock of violent criminals, who ganged up and attacked another inmate with vicious homemade knives. The inmate was forced to jump over a railing and fall one story to escape his attackers, who are believed to be members of a rival gang in the Miami neighborhood of Liberty City. The Miami-Dade Corrections Department says it still doesn't know why the security system unlocked and opened every door in the maximum-security wing. With a $40 billion drug-trafficking business, several corrupt and violent groups in Mexico have emerged over the years as they attempt to control more money, land, and power. With it comes a natural struggle amongst one another in what's led to countless deaths throughout the country. As members rise, leaders fall, and lives are lost, blood is constantly being shed in a society where murder is synonymous with success. We now present to you, the top 10 horrific Mexican cartel attacks.

Number 10: The San Fernando Massacres
August, 2010: Los Zetas—a notoriously ruthless Mexican drug cartel—intercepts buses trafficking 73 immigrants and executes all but one. They kidnap and slaughter the victims to deprive their rival, The Gulf Cartel, of the reinforcements they sent for. The lone survivor was an Ecuadorian man who was shot at the head but fortunately, the bullet missed his brain. After a shootout with Los Zetas, Mexican military units found the 72 bodies in a mass grave. This 2010 massacre took place along Highway 101 in San Fernando, Mexico and since then has been known as “The Highway of Death.”
Justice for the victims did not come, however, as the power and brutality of Los Zetas is greater than the law enforcement and government control. The Chief of Police investigating the massacre was murdered. Additionally, a year after the first massacre, 193 bodies of victim immigrants were found to have met the same violent fate. In 2011, the drug lord responsible for the massacres, Edgar “El Wache“ Montiel, was captured by Mexican Federal Police along with 80 other members of Los Zetas. “El Wache” Montiel bragged that some of the immigrants were forced to fight each other to death for the cartel members’ amusement.

5 Shocking Displays of Mexican Cartel Violence. The drug cartels in Mexico are destroying the country. They are violent and influential. This is a list to show you there is nothing romantic about these cartels.
5. The Durango Massacres
The northwestern city of Durango endured an explosion of violence in 2011 when, in that year alone over 340 bodies were discovered in mass graves scattered throughout the city. One single grave alone, near an auto body shop, contained 89 bodies. The Los Zetas cartel is believed to be responsible for most of the murders in Durango.
4. The 2011 Monterrey Casino Attack
In August of 2011 a group of four vehicles pulled up to the entranceway of the Casino Royale in Nuevo Leon and opened fire with automatic weapons. Upon ceasing fire, the group dumped gallons of gasoline into the front of the building and set it on fire. The ensuing fire and panic inside resulted in 52 dead civilians, mostly woman. The Los Zetas claim they were merely trying to intimidate the owners of the casino, who had refused to pay the cartel extortion money.
3. The Nuevo Laredo Massacres
In mid April 2012, 14 men, who were presumed to be Los Zetas members, were found chopped into pieces in a van, apparently on the orders of the Sinoloa cartel. And that wasn’t all the Sinola cartel had planned to intimidate their rivals. A few weeks later, a further 23 bodies were discovered. Of the 23 people killed, nine of their bodies were hanged from a bridge to the utter horror of the civilians of Nuevo Laredo. The other 14 corpses were found, decapitated, with their heads stuffed in ice coolers.
2. The Hugo Hernandez Murder
In 2010, then 26-year-old Hugo Hernandez was kidnapped from the city of Sonora. A week later his body was found on a street in the northern city of Los Mochis. He had been chopped up into seven pieces; Hernandez’s torso was found in a plastic container on the street separate from another box that contained his arms, legs and skull. His face was skinned off of his skull and stitched onto a soccer ball in an apparent threat to the Juarez drug cartel.
1. Jesus Ernesto Chavez Castillo
Castillo was a one-man death squad. He has murdered more than 800 people on behalf of the Barrio Aztecas Gang, the deadly enforcers of the Zetas. He even testified that he has killed more but that he lost count. Chavez went so far as to tell jurors that he often beheaded or dismembered his victims as a means to impress his boss.

Number 10: John Wilkes Booth
April 14th, 1865: actor John Wilkes Booth earns his real place and fame in history by assassinating the President of the United States. The Confederate sympathizer and his comrades conspired to kill President Abraham Lincoln along with Vice President Andrew Johnson and Secretary of State William Seward. They aimed to cripple the Union government by taking out three of its primary leaders; thus allowing the Confederates to continue the Civil War and keep slavery in America.
Using a single-shot .44 caliber Derringer, Booth shot Lincoln in the back of his head at the Ford’s Theater in Washington, D.C. Booth escaped on horseback with a broken leg he sustained during the chaos. The paralyzed and bloodied president was transported across the street for emergency medical attention despite doctors’ certainty that he might not make it through the night. Abraham Lincoln died early the next morning.
John Wilkes Booth was sought after by one of the largest manhunts in history; with nearly 10,000 police, detectives, and federal troops involved in his capture. He was eventually found at a Virginia farmhouse on April 26th. When he refused to come out, Union soldiers set the building on fire to force the fugitives out. Booth was shot in the neck and killed in the process while his co-conspirers were apprehended and hung for the assassination of President Lincoln.
Number 9: Marcus Junius Brutus
The assassination of Julius Caesar has earned legendary status in histories and literature all around the world. The power-hungry commander was promoted to Rome’s Dictator for his great military victories. But his attitude and thirst for supremacy created enemies among friends, politicians, and other military leaders. Among the threatened members of the Roman Senate was Marcus Junius Brutus, a powerful military and political figure belonging to one of the oldest families in the Roman Republic. His involvement protected the conspirers from public condemnation and it was he whom Shakespeare bestowed credit for the assassination.
In the Senate House on March 15th, 44 BC, Marcus Brutus and other conspirators surrounded Caesar in “procedural meetings.” The signal to start the attack was for a member to pull on his toga, at which point, the men took turns stabbing Caesar to death. Caesar’s famous last words have gone down in history as “Et tu, Brute?” which translates to “You too, Brutus?” This was a literary emphasis on the betrayal that transpired as his former friend, Brutus, slashed at his hand and thigh with a knife.

Number 5: Inmates attack Prison Gaurd
A shocking video showing dozens of prisoners in Arizona ambushing several correctional officers.
Nearly 30 inmates viciously attacked seven officers at a maximum security prison during a meal in April
The guards were only armed with stun guns and pepper spray.
Footage shows the prisoners jumping to their feet and descending on at least one officer from all corners.
Apparently the inmates got upset when officers were walking through the tables in the cafeteria.
One guard was beaten so badly he didn’t return to work.
A female officer was also hurt in the attack.
Now that is the kind of place I wouldn't want to be in.

The incident took place in January of 2015 when an inmate, who was not previously thought to be dangerous, wandered an empty hallway before seeing the corrections officer sitting alone at his desk.
The unidentified inmate then ran into the room, slamming an automatically locking door behind him before he assaulted the officer, taking away with either his Taser or handgun.
Number 3: Prison Riot
February 23, 2000, riot inside Pelican Bay State Prison. Thirty three inmates were stabbed by other inmates, fifteen inmates were shot by Correctional Officers, and eighty nine weapons were recovered. This was one of California's largest and bloodiest prison riots. Here is the video
Number 2: Knife attack
Surveillance cameras captured the moment every door at a maximum-security jail wing in Florida swung open and released a flock of violent criminals, who ganged up and attacked another inmate with vicious homemade knives.
The inmate was forced to jump over a railing and fall one story to escape his attackers, who are believed to be members of a rival gang in the Miami neighborhood of Liberty City.
The Miami-Dade Corrections Department says it still doesn't know why the security system unlocked and opened every door in the maximum-security wing.
Number 1: Heavy Shooting in Mexican Prison
This one give me chill's. In this video, there is rival gang memebers attacking a prsion in mexico with heavy weapons.
It shows gang members unlocking a door to allow armed men to shoot rivial gang inside.
They killed around 17 people.

Mexicans are facing a horrifying increase in violence brought about by the governments decision to wage war on the powerful drug cartels. Each day sees more deaths and kidnaps, while corruption is endemic.
The death toll so far this year is 4000, higher than Iraq. Around 4 people a day are kidnapped for ransom. Were assaulted every day, says one man, Mexico as a country can not guarantee our security. In Sinaloa, life is a daily roll call of decapitations, torturing and shootings of gangsters and innocents alike. A hysterical young man just witnessed the shooting of his sister point blank in the head. The next day, assassins on motorbikes executed two men in broad daylight. There are witnesses, but theyre too scared to talk. Its common belief that corrupt police are involved in the drugs trade and the kidnappings: "drug traffickers dont need to buy a minister to carry on his activities. They only have to buy the chief of police". While this report was in the making, a federal police officer at one point a member of the Anti-Kidnap team was arrested over the kidnapping and murder of a 14-year-old boy. It seems Mexicos president has a hard battle ahead of him. Last year American Congress gave him US$400 million to help fight the drug cartels but this amount is nothing compared to the money laundering from drug activity.
