We are an English couple living in London with 3 children.
my husbands family are from Grenada and we are thinking of emigrating.

We are so lucky in London to have diversity and where we live no racism, mixed couples are completely normal.

We need to know what it is like living in Oz as a black man / mixed couple / mixed children and if there is anywhere that is as trouble free and accepting as London.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

      Hello Donna.

Everyone has different experiences living in Australia, in the same way that black people have varying experiences living in the UK.

My personal experience is that the Australian mindset on this subject is about 10 years behind the UK.

I would say that Australia is now at the stage where they are not necessarily racist, but more ignorant of what will offend.

There is a small but strong community in Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney so you will have a support structure, and some of us are Black British with mixed race children, so we will understand your transition.

Do not base your decision on how you think you will be received, base it on what is right for you and your family.

      I hope this helps
