CARIBVIC MOOMBA PARADE 2014

      Caribbean Fever

     Melbourne Victoria, March 10, 2014:

The Caribbean Community is making a return to Moomba this year after several very successful Presentations in the mid-90’s under the banner of the Melbourne Masqueraders.

The Caribbean Association of Victoria – CARIBVIC – Presentation for Moomba 2014 is themed CARIBBEAN FEVER.

The colours reflect different aspects of the Caribbean; the blue costumes reflect the blue waters of the Caribbean Sea, the green costumes reflect the lush vegetation of the Caribbean and the red costumes reflect the warmth of the Caribbean people.

They are followed by Caribbean Sunset GOLDEN GIRLS.  The male section is led by a traditional Carnival character from Dominica known as SENSAY.

All masquerades carry a standard topped with the letter CV (CaribVic)

There are 97 Masqueraders in our Presentation in ages varying from 10-80+ yrs.    We will be accompanied by the Marysville “Pans on Fire” Steelband.

The Presentation is similar to the famous Trinidad Carnival which has been adopted by many other countries, e.g. the Notting Hill Carnival in London, Caribana in Toronto amongst others in North America and Europe. Costumes designed by Roger and Robyn Phillips were made with the help of members and friends of the Caribbean Community.

CaribVic thanks all the Masqueraders participating in the 60th Anniversary of the Melbourne Moomba Parade 2014

We are proud of you.
