The Florida High School Athletic Association's athletic director's advisory council on Wednesday gave it support to making wholesale changes to the way the football playoffs work, clearing one more obstacle into reshaping the postseason. The advisory council voted 11-2 to endorse the changes presented by Frank Beasley, the FHSAA's director of athletics and football administrator. It now moves on to a board of directors vote on Sept. 26....

But the proposed format, which could be upon us by as early as 2017, has some cracks in the foundation, too ... The FHSAA is considering wiping out district play in Classes 1A-4A, while the bigger classes would still award automatic berths to district champions while using a wild card system to fill out the rest of the field.
