Mark Hogan AIA, LEED BD+C is a licensed architect in the states of New York and California and is the principal at OpenScope Studio. He is also a Senior Lecturer in architecture at the California College of the Arts. His primary professional interests lie in infill housing, sustainable urban design and in enhancing digital design workflows. Other research topics include investigating the meaning of “vernacular” in the United States and the relationship between high design and DIY aesthetics. Prior to starting his own office, he was an Associate at David Baker Architects in San Francisco where he worked on large infill affordable and market rate housing projects around the Bay Area and beyond. He has also worked for Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, where he implemented BIM software in the London office. He has written for SPUR‘s magazine The Urbanist, the print and web editions of Disegno and for BOOM: A Journal of California. He was the Chair of the Housing Committee at the AIA San Francisco from 2011-2014 and is an active member of the Housing Committee at SPUR. Mark holds an M. Arch. degree from the University of California, Berkeley and a BFA from the University at Buffalo.
