Who would have thought way back in 2004 that the zombie genre was already ripe for parody?

From the fertile minds of director and co-writer Edgar Wright and co-writer and star Simon Pegg came “Shaun of the Dead,” a British-made instant classic, often imitated and never equaled.

The Alamo Drafthouse’s New Mission Theater spices things up during this late-night screening on Sunday, Oct. 30, by handing out inflatable cricket bats “so you can smack your neighbor every time Shaun smacks a zombie on screen.” You’ve been warned.

Another activity you can enjoy along with the blokes onscreen: drinking pints.

Wright and Pegg have always resisted a sequel — admirable — but might reconsider as the genre, led by “The Walking Dead” TV series, has provided a wealth of new material to parody since.
