Some years ago I was given a VHS video (remember those?) and it was 20 minutes of pure fascination and here it is! This promotional film was made by the John Compton Organ Ltd for the Ideal Home Exhibition in London in 1936. The film was silent and I am told that at the exhibition, it was accompanied by Quentin Maclean demonstrating one of the first Compton 'electrone' organs! The film shows a cinema organ under construction at the factory of the John Compton Organ Company Ltd in North Acton, London and a whole variety of action can be seen from the drawing office to voicing of pipes, to engraving of stops to the testing of a melotone unit. Since then sound has been put on the film in the form of different organists playing Compton cinema organs which include Reginald Porter-Brown an...
Today I had a chance to visit Firehouse Pipes in Union City, Indiana. The venue is home to a 3/12 Page theatre pipe organ. The owners of the instrument, Dick and Linda Wilcox, are the owners of Uniflex Relay Systems. This organ serves as the test instrument for each new version of the relay software. The instrument speaks wonderfully into the room, which is often used as a community center for various events.
Dennis Scott playing the Tennessee Waltz, a tribute to Tulsa Daniel Webster High School alum, Patti Page (Clara Ann Fowler), CO '45. Dennis and his partner, Thom Day (from Chicago, IL) recently restored Webster's Hammond Organ, CV in addition to connecting a pair of 1950's era Leslie speakers to the organ. This restoration was a Century Club Project through the school's Alumni Foundation. We want to thank our alumni who stepped up with their donations enabling us to bring the sound of music once again to our beautiful art deco auditorium and the halls of our alma mater. The Tulsa Daniel Webster High School, (built with Works Progress Administration (WPA) funds.) was designed by Arthur M. Atkinson, John Duncan Forsyth, Raymond Kerr, and William H. Wolaver and opened in September 1938, on...
Looking at Jan&PatGiradot;'sE-OrganList Kimball made the most models of any electronic organ company, it would appear. At least in the top two. The Xanadu J900 shows up for sale every once in a While on Craigslist for peanuts ( usually $100-$500 or free) One in W.V. at the day of this upload for $225! Ad says 'trouble with some of the pedals'. Big deal really. Think of it this way, an organ of this magnitude is far better than any 'keyboard' you can buy now when compare dollar for dollar. The Kimball Xanadu cost as much as a luxury car in 1981. The main competitor was Hammond's Elegante that year and I'm curious to know what the Kimball cost. The Elegante was $14,000 in 81'. I recently got the best deal ever on a mint condition fully operational Elegante- $150! Electronic organs are very...

The Symphony No. 3 in C minor, Op. 78, was completed by Camille Saint-Saëns in 1886 at what was probably the artistic zenith of his career. It is also popularly known as the "Organ Symphony", even though it is not a true symphony for organ, but simply an orchestral symphony where two sections out of four use the pipe organ. The French title of the work is more accurate: Symphonie No. 3 "avec orgue" (with organ). Of composing the work Saint-Saëns said "I gave everything to it I was able to give. What I have here accomplished, I will never achieve again."[1] The composer seemed to know it would be his last attempt at the symphonic form, and he wrote the work almost as a type of "history" of his own career: virtuoso piano passages, brilliant orchestral writing characteristic of the Romantic ...
How do you describe a record that was made by a paper company for an imaginary country club? Very tricky... Anyway, here is some reading material as you listen... ( hope it doesn't bore you to death:/ ) --THE GREAT MISUNDERSTOOD ELECTRONIC ORGAN-- As an electronic organ enthusiast I want to make folks aware that these organs of our past are not jaded relics, but finely crafted musical instruments. The electronic organ manufactures became very competitive in the 1970's and produced some not-so-good instruments, but the flip side of this is that most of their 'top-of-line' from this period are very powerful musical instruments that digital technology can imitate, but never duplicate. Analog electronic instruments have proven their superiority! So what are the organs like from before the 1970...
Finally! Here's the movie of the full concert at Victoria Hall, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, by Gert van Hoef on August 15, 2015 We know that a lot of you have been waiting anxiously for the release of these images, and now you can watch the whole concert. We had no pretensions to make a broadcast quality product, as the relatively short stay and the limited amount of luggage we could take with us inhibited us to have all of the equipment there to do a full professional recording of both video and audio. Lucky enough, Father Geurt and friend Mark Janssen took their consumer-cams with them, and we were promised a copy of the images recorded by Victoria Hall's own camera's. Unfortunately, because of a few technical problems it was not possible to supply us with the full-HD recordings of both ...
Documentary film "Between life and death" exposes the evil crime of harvesting organs of LIVE victims in China with detail and reliable evidences. In the documentary film, the independent investigation group has collected numerous evidences to prove logically and systematically about this evil crime, shows that it is really happening in China. In this investigative program, we look at how prisoners of conscience in China—particularly those imprisoned for practicing Falun Gong—have their organs forcably removed in state-run hospitals to be sold for profit. Winner of the Certificate of Merit at the 2011 Chicago International Television Awards (Hugo TV Awards) in the "Investigative Reporting/News Documentary" category.
