Tahoe Airport may refer to:
Truckee Tahoe Airport(IATA: TKF, ICAO: KTRK, FAA LID: TRK) is a public airport two miles east of Truckee, California, United States. The airport is in both Nevada County and Placer County. It is owned by Truckee Tahoe Airport District, a bi-county special district. According to the FAA's National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2009–2013 it is a general aviation airport.
Many U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, but Truckee Tahoe Airport is assigned TRK by FAA and TKF by IATA. IATA says TRK is Juwata Airport in Tarakan, North Kalimantan, Indonesia.
Truckee-Tahoe Airport covers 989 acres (400 ha) at an elevation of 5,900 ft (1,800 m) above mean sea level. It has two asphalt runways: 11/29 is 7,000 by 100 ft (2,134 by 30 m) and 2/20 4,650 by 75 ft (1,417 by 23 m).
In the year ending December 31, 2004 the airport had 35,000 aircraft operations, an average of 95 per day: 97% general aviation, 3% air taxi, and less than 1% military. 91 aircraft were then based at this airport: 80.2% single-engine, 13.2% multi-engine, 2.2% jet, 3.3% glider and 1.1% ultralight.
Truckee (originally, Coburn Station) is an incorporated town in Nevada County, California, United States. The population was 16,180 at the 2010 census, up from 13,864 at the 2000 census.
The town’s original name was Coburn Station, commemorating a saloon keeper.
Truckee was named after a Paiute chief. His assumed Paiute name was Tru-ki-zo. He was the father of Chief Winnemucca and grandfather of Sarah Winnemucca. The first Europeans who came to cross the Sierra Nevada encountered his tribe. The friendly Chief rode toward them yelling “Tro-kay!”, which is Paiute for “Everything is all right”. The unaware travelers assumed he was yelling his name. Chief Truckee later served as a guide for John C. Frémont.
Truckee is located along Interstate 80 at 39°20′32″N 120°12′13″W / 39.34222°N 120.20361°W / 39.34222; -120.20361 (39.342163, -120.203568).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 33.7 square miles (87 km2), of which 32.3 square miles (84 km2) is land and 1.3 square miles (3.4 km2) (3.96%) is water, mostly the Truckee River, the only outlet of Lake Tahoe.
An airport is an aerodrome with facilities for flights to take off and land. Airports often have facilities to store and maintain aircraft, and a control tower. An airport consists of a landing area, which comprises an aerially accessible open space including at least one operationally active surface such as a runway for a plane to take off or a helipad, and often includes adjacent utility buildings such as control towers, hangars and terminals. Larger airports may have fixed base operator services, airport aprons, air traffic control centres, passenger facilities such as restaurants and lounges, and emergency services.
An airport with a helipad for rotorcraft but no runway is called a heliport. An airport for use by seaplanes and amphibious aircraft is called a seaplane base. Such a base typically includes a stretch of open water for takeoffs and landings, and seaplane docks for tying-up.
An international airport has additional facilities for customs and immigration.
In warfare, airports can become the focus of intense fighting, for example the Battle of Tripoli Airport or the Battle for Donetsk Airport, both taking place in 2014. An airport primarily for military use is called an airbase or air station.
Lake Tahoe (/ˈtɑːhoʊ/; Washo: dáʔaw) is a large freshwater lake in the Sierra Nevada of the United States. At a surface elevation of 6,225 ft (1,897 m), it is located along the border between California and Nevada, west of Carson City. Lake Tahoe is the largest alpine lake in North America. Its depth is 1,645 ft (501 m), making it the second deepest in the United States after Crater Lake (1,945 ft (593 m)). Additionally, Lake Tahoe is the sixth largest lake by volume in the United States at 122,160,280 acre·ft (150,682,490 dam3), behind the five Great Lakes.
The lake was formed about 2 million years ago and is a part of the Lake Tahoe Basin with the modern lake being shaped during the ice ages. It is known for the clarity of its water and the panorama of surrounding mountains on all sides. The area surrounding the lake is also referred to as Lake Tahoe, or simply Tahoe. More than 75% of the lake's watershed is national forest land, comprising the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit of the United States Forest Service.

http://martinsaviation.blogspot.com/ Video filmed with my GoPro Hero3 HD from my first ever glider lesson out of the Truckee-Tahoe Airport (KTRK). The video speeds up after takeoff to the point of our release. We were being towed by Piper PA-25 N7487Z (a typical glider tow-plane). So cool to be towed up by another plane! Never experienced anything like it!
The highlights of my first glider flight with Jan at Truckee Soaring. It was an amazing experience! I found following the tow plane the hardest part, but thoroughly enjoyed it all - especially the landing. If you want to see all 17 minutes of it I have also posted the entire flight here : https://youtu.be/WOSQYOuBAes

At the April 22, 2015 Truckee Tahoe Airport District board meeting, Truckee residents, including several local pilots, raised aviation safety, plane noise, and overdevelopment concerns in asking board members to consider open space acquisition, using the Airport's $4.3 million annual subsidy and reserve funds, to purchase parcels contained within the Joerger Ranch Specific Plan Area, also referred to as the Planned Community-3 (PC-3) Specific Plan Area. These requests were specifically for the parcel between Highway 267 and the Ponderosa Golf Course, known as “Parcel 4.” Local residents, including pilots, want to preserve this area as open space to maintain open space, reduce the risk of fatal plane crashes and to prevent overdevelopment. Because of its location and terrain, the Truckee ...

Public sees bullying in Truckee Tahoe Airport boardroom, a pro-evironment airport board director said. Truckee Tahoe Airport District Board member Mary Hetherington told three other voter-elected board directors that some of her Truckee neighbors expressed concern that she is being bullied and treated rudely by some of the other directors at public board meetings because of her pro-environment and pro-quality of life stands on behalf of the majority of lower and middle class local residents. Ms. Hetherington said that one neighbor who approached her watched televised Truckee Tahoe Airport District open board meetings during which Ms. Hetherington opposed or expressed her reservations about numerous airport building projects which many lead to further expansion of plane traffic and jet no...

Today (7/4/12) is my 6 year Youtube anniversary, so what better way to celebrate it than a video of two beautiful steam engines at the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City. It was a great day, got there early in the morning to watch the 25 and Inyo prepare for the days activities and then stayed to watch them pull trains around the museum's loop of track, I was even offered a cab ride in the Inyo, and that was totally unexpected. Special thanks to all the volunteers at the Nevada State Railroad Museum for a great day!!!!!!!!!!
