Microsoft HomeGroup allows users on the same home network to easily view, share and even edit files and folders. This video from Tutorial Techie will show you how to establish a HomeGroup within your existing home network and how to share files between computers using HomeGroup.
Quick Steps for Sharing Files/Folders Between Two Windows 7 Computers Using Windows HomeGroup
• Go to the Start Menu and select your Control Panel
• Select "Network and Internet" and then click on "Choose HomeGroup and Sharing Options"
• Leave any previous HomeGroups if you wish by clicking on "Leave the HomeGroup"
• If you receive an error message that HomeGroup is unavailable, change your network to a Home network (directions below)
• Select the things (Documents, Pictures, Videos, Printers, Music) that you would like to share with your HomeGroup
• Make note of your HomeGroup password or change it if you wish (directions to change the password are below)
• On the subsequent computers, open up your HomeGroup Settings menu as above and close out of the menu to create a new HomeGroup
• Once the existing HomeGroup refreshes on your screen, click "Join Now"
• Select the things (Documents, Pictures, Videos, Printers, Music) that you would like to share with your HomeGroup
• Enter the HomeGroup password and select "Finish"
• To share a document with your HomeGroup, save it in one of the Libraries that you opted to share
• To access a shared document, open your Library and then select either "Network" or "HomeGroup" on the left hand side to view all of the computers on your HomeGroup
• Then select the computer and user who is sharing the document you would like to access
• If you'd like to give other computers the ability to both access and modify your documents, open your Library, click on "Share With..." and then select "HomeGroup (Read/Write)"

Shared resource
In computing, a shared resource, or network share, is a computer resource made available from one host to other hosts on a computer network. Windows 7
Windows 7 (codenamed Vienna, formerly Blackcomb) is a personal computer operating system developed by Microsoft. It is a part of the Windows NT family of operating systems. Windows 7 was released to manufacturing on July 22, 2009, and became generally available on October 22, 2009, less than three years after the release of its predecessor, Windows Vista. Windows 7's server counterpart, Windows Server 2008 R2, was released at the same time.
Windows 7 was primarily intended to be an incremental upgrade to the operating system intending to address Windows Vista's poor critical reception while maintaining hardware and software compatibility. Windows 7 continued improvements on Windows Aero (the user interface introduced in Windows Vista) with the addition of a redesigned taskbar that allows applications to be "pinned" to it, and new window management features. Other new features were added to the operating system, including libraries, the new file sharing system HomeGroup, and support for multitouch input. A new "Action Center" interface was also added to provide an overview of system security and maintenance information, and tweaks were made to the User Account Control system to make it less intrusive.
