The book of John is a Gospel that contains Narrative History, Sermons, Parables, and a few Prophetic Oracles. It was written by the Disciple/Apostle John around 85-95 A.D. The key personalities of this book are Jesus Christ, His Twelve Disciples, Mary Magdalene, John the Baptist, Lazarus, his sisters Mary and Martha, Jewish religious leaders, and Pilate.
It was written so that all may believe in Jesus Christ the Son of God who gives eternal life. John's gospel uses the word "Believe" 98 times and the word "Life" 36 times, in an effort to embed the importance that one must believe in order to live eternally. John is not one of the three synoptic (common view) gospels, but instead was written with a more theological substance, yet equally as inspired and important as the first three gospels.

A quick note on "the Jews" in this video. I think it's important to note three things that didn't make it into the video:
1) The gospel of John sometimes refers to "the Jews" in a rather sweeping way, but there were many Jews who believed in Jesus at this point in the story (John 12:9–11). Still, John draws a distinction for the reader when it comes to this part of the narrative: "Therefore Jesus no longer moved about publicly among the people of Judea. Instead he withdrew to a region near the wilderness, to a village called Ephraim, where he stayed with his disciples." (John 11:54)
2) Passages that speak of the Jews rejecting and killing Jesus have been used to justify violence, injustice, hate, and prejudice against Jewish people for centuries. This is obviously wrong, and contrary to the teachings of Christ.
3) As if he could see this coming, the author of John overtly states at this point in the story that Jesus will "die for the Jewish nation, and not only for that nation but also for the scattered children of God, to bring them together and make them one." (John 11:51–52) While there's a distinction in the narrative here, the author himself seems to agree with the Apostle Paul that by the end of the story, "there is neither Jew nor Gentile […] for you are all one in Christ Jesus." (Galatians 3:28)

The Jerusalem Chamber in the Abbey’s Deanery, the residence of the Dean of Westminster, has a pivotal role in the history of printed versions of the Holy Bible. It hosted the committees engaged on writing King James I’s Authorized Version of the Bible in 1611, the Revised Version in 1870, the New English Bible in 1961 and the Revised English Bible in 1989.
St John’s Gospel reached its final form around AD 90–110, although it contains signs of origins dating back to AD 70 and possibly even earlier. Like the three other gospels, it is anonymous, although it identifies an unnamed ‘disciple whom Jesus loved’ as the writer.

Gospel of John
The Gospel According to John (also referred to as the Gospel of John, the Fourth Gospel, or simply John; Greek: Τὸ κατὰ Ἰωάννην εὐαγγέλιον, to kata Ioannen euangelion) is one of the four canonical gospels in the Christian Bible. In the New Testament it traditionally appears fourth, after the synoptic gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. John begins with the witness and affirmation of John the Baptist and concludes with the death, burial, resurrection, and post-resurrection appearances of Jesus.
Chapter 21 states that the book derives from the testimony of the "disciple whom Jesus loved" and early church tradition identified him as John the Apostle, one of Jesus' Twelve Apostles. The gospel is closely related in style and content to the three surviving Epistles of John such that commentators treat the four books, along with the Book of Revelation, as a single body of Johannine literature. According to some modern scholars, however, the apostle John was not the author of any of these books.

The book of John is a Gospel that contains Narrative History, Sermons, Parables, and a few Prophetic Oracles. It was written by the Disciple/Apostle John around 85-95 A.D. The key personalities of this book are Jesus Christ, His Twelve Disciples, Mary Magdalene, John the Baptist, Lazarus, his sisters Mary and Martha, Jewish religious leaders, and Pilate.
It was written so that all may believe in Jesus Christ the Son of God who gives eternal life. John's gospel uses the word "Believe" 98 times and the word "Life" 36 times, in an effort to embed the importance that one must believe in order to live eternally. The gospel of John is the fourth book of the New Testament, and the last gospel in the Bible. This video looks at the story and structure of this artistic, compelling narrative about Jesus.

A quick note on "the Jews" in this video. I think it's important to note three things that didn't make it into the video:
1) The gospel of John sometimes refers to "the Jews" in a rather sweeping way, but there were many Jews who believed in Jesus at this point in the story (John 12:9–11). Still, John draws a distinction for the reader when it comes to this part of the narrative: "Therefore Jesus no longer moved about publicly among the people of Judea. Instead he withdrew to a region near the wilderness, to a village called Ephraim, where he stayed with his disciples." (John 11:54)
2) Passages that speak of the Jews rejecting and killing Jesus have been used to justify violence, injustice, hate, and prejudice against Jewish people for centuries. This is obviously wrong, and contrary to the teachings of Christ.
3) As if he could see this coming, the author of John overtly states at this point in the story that Jesus will "die for the Jewish nation, and not only for that nation but also for the scattered children of God, to bring them together and make them one." (John 11:51–52) While there's a distinction in the narrative here, the author himself seems to agree with the Apostle Paul that by the end of the story, "there is neither Jew nor Gentile […] for you are all one in Christ Jesus." (Galatians 3:28)

Best-known for playing Agatha Christie’s fictional detective Hercule Poirot, Sir David became a Christian in 1986 after reading a hotel room Bible. He has read the entire Bible before, for Hodder & Stoughton’s NIV Audio Bible, which has sold over 100,000 copies worldwide.
The Jerusalem Chamber in the Abbey’s Deanery, the residence of the Dean of Westminster, has a pivotal role in the history of printed versions of the Holy Bible. It hosted the committees engaged on writing King James I’s Authorized Version of the Bible in 1611, the Revised Version in 1870, the New English Bible in 1961 and the Revised English Bible in 1989.
St John’s Gospel reached its final form around AD 90–110, although it contains signs of origins dating back to AD 70 and possibly even earlier. Like the three other gospels, it is anonymous, although it identifies an unnamed ‘disciple whom Jesus loved’ as the writer.

Gospel of John
The Gospel According to John (also referred to as the Gospel of John, the Fourth Gospel, or simply John; Greek: Τὸ κατὰ Ἰωάννην εὐαγγέλιον, to kata Ioannen euangelion) is one of the four canonical gospels in the Christian Bible. In the New Testament it traditionally appears fourth, after the synoptic gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. John begins with the witness and affirmation of John the Baptist and concludes with the death, burial, resurrection, and post-resurrection appearances of Jesus.
Chapter 21 states that the book derives from the testimony of the "disciple whom Jesus loved" and early church tradition identified him as John the Apostle, one of Jesus' Twelve Apostles. The gospel is closely related in style and content to the three surviving Epistles of John such that commentators treat the four books, along with the Book of Revelation, as a single body of Johannine literature. According to some modern scholars, however, the apostle John was not the author of any of these books.
