Tru (restaurant)

Tru is a French restaurant in Chicago which holds one Michelin Star as of 2012. In 2013, Tru was once again awarded 5 diamonds from the American Automobile Association. Since 2004, the restaurant has been a recipient of the Wine Spectator Grand Award. Tru is part of the Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises restaurant group.

Tru64 UNIX

Tru64 UNIX is a discontinued 64-bit UNIX operating system for the Alpha instruction set architecture (ISA), currently owned by Hewlett-Packard (HP). Previously, Tru64 UNIX was a product of Compaq, and before that, Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC), where it was known as Digital UNIX (formerly DEC OSF/1 AXP).

As its original name suggests, Tru64 UNIX is based on the OSF/1 operating system. DEC's previous UNIX product was known as Ultrix and was based on BSD.

It is unusual among commercial UNIX implementations, as it is built on top of the Mach kernel developed at Carnegie Mellon University. (Other UNIX implementations built on top of the Mach kernel are NeXTSTEP, MkLinux, Mac OS X and Apple iOS.)

Tru64 UNIX requires the SRM boot firmware found on Alpha-based computer systems.

OSF/1

In 1988, during the so-called "Unix wars", DEC joined with IBM, Hewlett-Packard, and others to form the Open Software Foundation (OSF) to develop a version of Unix. Dubbed OSF/1, the aim was to compete with System V Release 4 from AT&T Corporation and Sun Microsystems, and it has been argued that a primary goal was for the operating system to be free of AT&T intellectual property. The fact that OSF/1 was one of the first operating systems to use the Mach kernel is cited as support of this assertion. Digital also strongly promoted OSF/1 for real-time applications , and with traditional UNIX implementations at the time providing poor real-time support at best, the real-time and multi-threading support was heavily dependent on the Mach kernel. It also incorporated a large part of the BSD kernel (based on the 4.3-Reno release) to provide UNIX API. Back at the time of its proliferation, OSF/1 was the third major flavor of UNIX together with System V and BSD.

Tactics and Rescue Unit

The Tactics and Rescue Unit of the Ontario Provincial Police was formed in 1975 as a counter terrorist unit for the 1976 Summer Olympics which had venues in Ontario. This unit was originally trained by the British SAS and the FBI Hostage Rescue Unit.

Currently, officers within the OPP wishing to become a member of this unit must have served a minimum of three years with exemplorary service. Then, they may apply and if chosen attend a two day pre-selection screening to undergo a battery of written exams, psychological testing, attend an interview before a board, pass a timed physical fitness test and pass a firearms assessment course of fire.

The fitness test consists of the applicant donning a 50 lb (23 kg) vest and travelling an overall distance of 3.2 km (2 miles). The test must be completed in a time of less than 32 minutes and has six task stations spread out over the course which is basically the perimeter of a basketball court. The candidate must walk 5 laps at a brisk pace and may run 1 lap for a total of six before doing a task station. These six laps along with the six task stations must be successfully completed for the candidate to continue on.

Forever (Medina song)

"Forever" is a song by Danish electropop singer Medina from her second English-language album Forever. The song was released as the album's lead single on April 13, 2012. "Forever" was translated into English from Medina's Danish number-one single "For altid". It samples the song "The One" (in the original Danish language version "For altid" - "Vi to"). "Forever" was written by Medina, Providers, Engelina Andrina, and Nazerine Henderson, and it was produced by Providers.

Music video

The music video was shot in New York and was directed by Michael Sauer Christensen. The video premiered on May 7, 2012 on her official myvideo.de channel and a day later on the labels YouTube channel.

Frail Words Collapse is the second studio album by American metalcore band As I Lay Dying. The album is their first release on the record label Metal Blade Records. Only two of the five current band-members (drummer Jordan Mancino and frontman Tim Lambesis) appeared on the album. Two of the band's signature songs, "94 Hours" and "Forever", appear on the album.

Music videos have been produced for the songs "94 Hours" and "Forever." The album has sold 250,000 copies to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Forever (website)

FOREVER.com is a digital archive and internet storage start-up company based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Founded in May 2012, by successful Pittsburgh entrepreneur and venture capitalist, Glen Meakem, FOREVER is a digital archive where photographs, documents, video, and audio files can be preserved and shared securely and permanently. On September 28, 2012, the new company trademarked “ForeverTrust” for computer software which stores and retrieves personal documents.

History

After returning from active duty in the First Gulf War, Glen Meakem conducted video interviews with his grandparents and collected many of their old photographs. He quickly realized his need for a secure way to store his family’s memorabilia in perpetuity. The rise of digital technology, coupled with Meakem’s vision, led to the formation of FOREVER. Established in May, 2012, the company raised $9 million in its Series A financing round. FOREVER opened its downtown Pittsburgh office in January, 2013. (3) The company launched the first version of its website in August, 2013, to invited members. On November 22, 2013, FOREVER launched the first public version of the website. As of November, 2013, the company had raised around $15 million.

Cindy "Mac" Mackenzie

Cindy "Mac" Mackenzie is a fictional character on UPN/The CW television series Veronica Mars played by Tina Majorino. She was a recurring character during the first two seasons, and turned into a regular character for the third season.

Mac uses her computer hacking and cracking skills to help Veronica with her cases; the two joke that she is a kind of Q to Veronica's James Bond. Coincidentally or not, Mac (a common nickname for "Mackenzie") has shown preference for Apple Macintosh computers, which share her nickname.

Background

In the episode where Mac is introduced, "Like a Virgin", she helps Veronica find out who has stolen her password and has created a false score under her name on a purity test that had become a brief fad at Neptune High. However, Mac is the person who created the test in the first place, making it possible for the "sex crazed 09ers" to access other people's purity tests. Veronica has no resentment towards Mac for this, only caring about those that took tests for others.
