Protestors of the North Dakota pipeline celebrated after the Department of Justice temporarily halted the project in federal jurisdictions last Friday. But while some equipment sits idle, construction in other areas continues. William Brangham visits the Standing Rock Reservation, where more than 100 Native American tribes have gathered, to recap a week of protests.
There's a revolution happening in Standing Rock, at the Očhéthi Šakówiŋ camp, and across the country. Over 200 indigenous American nations and 6,000 people have travelled to the community in an unprecedented act of solidarity. Catalyzed by the fight against Dakota Access Pipeline, Native American tribes are protecting their water, but even more, protecting their sovereignty in the face of a colonialist State. In a time when we still celebrate Christopher Columbus, violent colonizer, the indigenous rights movement is more important than ever. On Indigenous People's Day 2016, we're #StandingWithStandingRock. Journalist Jonathan Klett connects what's happening in North Dakota to what's happening in D.C. Does Standing Rock mark the beginning of a new era for Native American movements? Abby Martin and one of Wounded Knee leaders Dennis Banks talk about this historical moment in the latest The Empire Files episode. http://multimedia.telesurtv.net/v/standing-rock-a-new-era-for-native-american-movements/
A historic gathering is taking place against the Dakota Access pipeline at Standing Rock. Thousands of people, and around 300 Native nations, have gathered to stop Big Oil’s pipeline, which threatens sacred Native grounds and the environment. To give an eyewitness account of this growing movement, as well as essential historical context, Abby Martin interviews legendary Native leader Dennis Banks. Banks is a founder of of the American Indian Movement (AIM), a leader in the 1973 Wounded Knee standoff and many other actions over five decades. http://multimedia.telesurtv.net/v/the-empire-files-599755/
http://democracynow.org - In a dramatic series of moves on Friday, the White House intervened in the ongoing fight against the Dakota Access pipeline, less than an hour after a federal judge rejected the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe’s request for an injunction against the U.S. government over the pipeline. "It’s not a solid victory now but just the weight, feeling that weight that I’ve been carrying for the last couple months is lifting. I feel like I could breathe right now," says Floris White Bull. We feature the reactions to government’s intervention from some of the thousands of Native Americans who have gathered along the Cannonball River by the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation to resist the pipeline’s construction. They surrounded the demonstrators on Open Prairie. They confronted peaceful marchers with riot gear, batons, guns and chemical weapons for allegedly trespassing in the middle of nowhere. This is not only a violation of civil and human rights, it is an outrage. The Government of North Dakota, the same ones that issued arrest warrants for Journalist Amy Goodman of Democracy Now AND Green party Presidential candidate Jill Stein, has pursued actions of suppression and abuse against citizens standing up for their rights of freedom of assembly and redress of grievances under law. Governor Jack Dalrymple says the First Amendment don’t cut it around here in North Dakota, so get in that cell. Call Him and tell him what YOU think, OK? 701-328-2200

In the year 2016 it is absolutely ridiculous that arguments over CITIZENS WATER being CLEAN OR NOT is even a topic. This is as foolish as the arguments over clean air....AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO UNDERSTANDS FOR LIFE TO EXIST WE NEED FOOD - WATER and AIR?

This is the video I took while at the Oceti Sacowin Camp at Standing Rock, ND on Saturday Oct. 15, 2016. Hundreds of people lined up that morning after our daily water ceremony to return to the front lines to stop this Black Snake from sinking its poisonous head in our water. This isn't a joke. We are more determined than ever to stop this from desecrating our lands. And naturally as you can see in the video we constantly being harassed by the government as they continue to fly over a clearly designated "no fly zone". Proof again the government only follows rules that benefit them. This is not an act of protest but an act of protection, protection from those who continue to put the health of this Earth and its people at risk.
Time to Spread the Efforts - Let's March With Standing Rock Time for me to speak again. I went and sat by the river and asked the ancestors to speak to me. They did. I keep getting we must expand this Standing Rock effort. We can honor the heroes there even more by standing up with them in our home areas. Pipeline and fracking abuses are everywhere. So places to stand and speak are many. And we need to begin now. So, here are my thoughts. They came with long smudging with sage and two loadings of my Chanupa. I would be honored by your words and thoughts.
Part 1 of our field reports from the Očhéthi Šakówiŋ, or Seven Council Fires Community, at #StandingRock in Cannonball, North Dakota. Representatives from over 200 nations have travelled to #StandingRock to defend their right to clean water, and more, to preserve their sovereignty against a state that has illegally decided to take this land. They are protectors, not protesters. Their historic effort is bringing attention to a long struggle against environmental racism, indiscriminate raids, and genocidal erasure. We follow the story and the story of how these communities, Standing Rock Camp and Red Warrior Camp, have come to be egalitarian and holistic actions. Featured in this documentary are a group of indigenous leaders working with the community: Kandi Mossett of the Indigenous Env...

christine of Earth Empaths is joined by Radagast of Global Mission of Peace in an impromptu recording. Mary Beth, a Grandmother from GMOP who has joined the Earth keepers at Standing Rock, North Dakota is reporting to Radagast with a boots on the ground perspective. Her message is clear and we would like to add our voices to the rising chorus as humanity slumbers under in the numbed down existence of slavery being spoon fed information, It us women who have been endowed with the transformative power, a force that we derive from deep within our soul body temple, men have a vital role in supporting this power. Together we manifest in Love and it is our time to demonstrate that the power of love is real. Unfortunately as we (the awakened) know, the few that have controls over humanity own...
