Born to Win is a 1971 black comedy film directed by Ivan Passer and starring George Segal, Karen Black, Paula Prentiss, Hector Elizondo and Robert De Niro. Released by United Artists, the film is probably the youngest film of the studio's library. The film follows Jay Jay (Segal), a former hair dresser who has become a drug addict. He lives his new life by doing deals for Vivian (Elizondo) from time to time. One day he meets Parm (Black), a free spirited girl. The two fall in love. Jay Jay's drug habit grows, and he soon resorts to robbery. On the threat of arrest, he works alongside two dirty policemen by becoming a narc, and reports on his former fellow junkies. Yet, as the movie continues, Jay Jay sinks deeper into turmoil with feelings of self-hatred.
George Segal plays the trombone and the banjo in this 10 minute clip from back in the early 80s
excerpt from: George Segal a film by Michael Blackwood (1979, 58 minutes, color) Website: http://www.michaelblackwoodproductions.com/artm_segal.php As a young painter in New York City, George Segal was profoundly impressed by the dignity and humanity of Abstract Expressionism. At the same time, along with artist friends such as Jim Dine, Allan Kaprow, Roy Lichtenstein, and Claes Oldenburg, he was acutely conscious of the homogenizing effects of mass production and the pressures of conformity that shaped life in postwar America . In reaction to this Segal invented his own highly personal medium: white plaster figures which he cast from live models. They were mostly Segal's family and friends. "I have to pick a model who has a mental life that I respect," explained Segal. In an age of sta...
From 1967, the Smothers Brothers stood virtually alone, among contemporary performers of that time, opposing the Vietnam War (Conflict, or whatever you want to call it). This was their version of a Phil Ochs' song, "Draft Dodger Rag", with guest star George Segal. I do not own this video, nor do I purport to own it.
From the George Segal TV Special. Segal did some recording on the Signature label run by Teresa and her husband Bob Thiele. On the show Teresa also sang Willie Burgundy and Alexander's Ragtime Band. See her site at teresafans.org for more. Teresa originally recorded this song in 1959. Clip is courtesy of The Teresa Brewer Center - teresafans.org.

One of my favorite scenes in this movies... To see Kris playing the piano lol Blume doesn't like the song -- but I do!!! Watch the movie carefully and you will see Stephen Bruton and Donnie Fritts from Kris' band singing "Mr. Tambourine Man". "Blume in love" is a lovely movie about never-ending love, cheating, splitting, ex- wives, ex-lovers, some flower- power, having fun, hope, lust and many things that make a movie worth seeing, even 35 years after its first release. "This comedy about a privileged manchild (Segal)--a Beverly Hills divorce lawyer--falling ever more deeply in love with his ex-wife (Susan Anspach) is clear-eyed and endlessly forgiving toward all its imperfect, achingly human characters. Kris Kristofferson is delightful as an out-of-work musician named Elmo who ta...

Don't bring me down
Don't bring me down
Don't bring me down
I've never been one
For playing games
You can move your mouth forever
But the words sound just the same
Something like
Bang bang you're dead
Couldn't we just make love instead
Say yes because it's what we do best
And I've had such a hard day
Take me where their eyes can't find us
Without you I may as well just ...
How much - do I have to say
What more - do you have to see
What will it take to make you love me
Well you're not the first
You're not the last
You're not even the one who loves me the best
But all I think about is you
So take me where their eyes can't find us
Without you I may as well just ...
So take me where their eyes can't find us
Without you I may as well just ...
Don't bring me down
Don't bring me down
Don't bring me down
Please don't wander from my door
I've never been one
For playing games
You can move your mouth forever
But the words sound just the same
Bang bang you're dead
Couldn't we just make love instead
Say yes because it's what we do best
And I've had such a hard day
So don't bring me down
Won't you give me a break
Somebody give me a break now!
Don't bring me down
Don't bring me down
Don't bring me down
Don't bring me down ...
Sweet little boy with oh such a big mouth
Harsh words can get you into hot water
When people don't understand you baby
I'm always here for you
And I
And I will never bring you down, down, down
Down, down, down my baby
Trust me
I want you to trust me
Oh trust me
‘Cause I won't bring you down
(Don't bring me down)
I won't bring me down
Do you trust me
Yeah
